“ I look for authenticity, engagement, tender and compassionate point of view, and sensuality. I think is about a sense of presence, where you feel like the subject is not looking at the photographer, but it’s looking at you. It’s about some sort of deep looking - a presence rather than self-consciousness, Sometimes it’s about the quality of light or mood. If a portrait has a narrative, I’m usually drawn to it. I don’t necessarily mind if something is staged, but when things starts to feel too artificial I think it’s a crutch.”
