01 HONDAMA : A STEP BETWEEN THE PLACE AND THE CULTURE
VERTICAL PROJECT OF PLACE Academic Work / 2016 / Samper - Cortés
This Academic Project has as an objective to develop an urban, architectonic and landscaping solution thinking the climatic and geographical characteristics as a patron to a specific place on which is enrolled with criteria of urban structure, sustainability, development and integration of the landscape. This project is the process of an “Urban Village” applying the previous parameters incorporating them to a design that the entire Honda (Cundinamarca, Colombia) community and its neighboring populations. Honda is a small town located in the Tolima Department, in way of development located by the Magdalena River’ side, the longest and most important river of Colombia. It has a very particular condition in terms of economics since it its the last port on the interior of the river before that it becomes impossible to navigate, but the first one to establish relation with Santa Fe de Bogotá, the capital of
the old Reino de Nueva Granada, colony of the Spanish Crown on the XVi century. At the present time Honda is a relegate urban area that is putting all its efforts in growing as a Touristic Center, phenomenon that affects to its inhabitants since many of the properties have been purchased by foreign owners who do not occupy them, or because it is developing especially towards the periphery and is forgetting its historical center. The objective of this exercise also gave the community a new space they could use for their everyday life. It was provided with schools, art centers, parks, libraries, a hotel, a market with its commercial area, a sports area, and diverse housing options. Because of that, we thought this village as a pedestrian area and we left almost all the vehicular circulation for the external zones. This project has as reference the Barragan urban solutions in Mexico.

02 A NEW SPACE FOR THE ARTS, NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF COLOMBIA
VERTICAL PROJECT OF TECHNIQUE Academic Work / 2017 / Ramón Bermúdez
The Vertical Project of Technique was an Academic Work in which the objective was approaching to an architectonic project with a technical view. It is not the only reserve to the details and the structure but knowing that the Technique is a tool to make the architecture functional, beautiful and also effective. The project was to propose a new building for the Arts Faculty of the National University of Colombia, having on count the critical situation of the faculty in terms of infrastructure. The building had to develop a new space that lends all the careers of the faculty work together; Architecture, Product Desing, Graphic Desing, Fine Arts, Film Making and Music. It was located in the middle of to main areas of the University, the Art area
16
and the Human Science area, in order to also connect this space with the rest of the university and make it an integration space for the whole community. The projects begin with an image. This image is the soul of the project because it keeps the design line close to the first idea. It is called “Architecture Begins” and although above all its purpose was to show a basic idea of a possible spatiality it also helped to start thinking about the technical development of the building. The whole building was developed in one single floor, having all the services; working rooms, studying rooms, workshops, between others, in a compacted central zone, and the other services extended along a large porch that had a continuous relationship with the green environment.

VERTICAL PROJECT OF ACTIVITY Academic Work / 2017 / Carlos Naranjo
Activity is always an important parameter when thinking the design of a new building, but most of the times it is limited to vague research of the possible use. In this Project, the idea was to understand the activity as the motor of the daily life of us, the human being, and how the architecture makes us interact in many diverse ways with the designed space but also with the empty space. This processual exercise had a base idea; Analogue Buildings, it meant that three different buildings had to be related in different contexts, Bogotá, Colombia, Cologne, Germany and Barcelona, Spain. They were related in terms of use (basic activities), form (they had to be the intersection of three volumes), and the most important thing was that they were located in the exact same point on the different cities in relation with the historical cen-
22
ter and their point of the foundation. There were at 4,7 km from the reference point, a distance selected thinking of the maximum range of view of the human beings in a flat area. This building is the case of Bogotá, located in the main Park of a residential zone, with a direct view of the City’s Mountain Ranges, the most important geographical reference point. Its main use was a House of Music, but in general, it was a building to all senses, with the purpose of recreating the mountains in every sense, visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile. It was almost completely buried to not give more importance to the visual sense but to equilibrate everyone else in the experience of the horizon.

04 CIUDAD SALITRE MARKET: INTEGRAL IMPROVEMENT OF OBSOLETE URBAN TRACES
VERTICAL PROJECT OF URBAN PLACE Academic Work / 2018 / Sebastián Serna, Ramón Bermúdez
The entire world is facing now a wave of a new kind of architecture, “The Architecture of the Enclave” but for the Vertical Project of Urban Space, Bogotá was the main study case. It’s a fact: Bogotá grows over the valleys of the surrounding Altiplano without a clear project, in this way that the conurbation of a dozen urban helmets of the region is irreversible. This is the history of a Latin American city that has been consolidated without a territorial project or a fixed urban one, without a representation (graphic) that defines it. However, we can affirm without fear of wrong that behind the way of growth of the city there is an expansion model that is not based so much on urban criteria or on a spatial one, as in economic precepts, both financial as property efficiency; a luck of hidden manifesto (that haven’t been graphed) which is defining the shape of the future Great Bogota. The main question of the workshop aims at what architectural, urban and spatial mechanisms we can deploy to “reabsorb” these existing anti-urban islands with the intention of sewing a future city that is more secure, friendly and dynamic. A city on the
28
scale of pedestrian, local, that encourages neighborhood life, nearby, without many trips. A place that promotes cities within the city that allows a harmonious flow of daily, weekly, monthly and annual circuits without congesting transport infrastructures. We have chosen as the intervention area of this workshop the urban project of Ciudad Salitre (1985-1995), an outstanding project in terms of its urban proposal with an architecture that does not pay enough tribute. The architecture of the enclave or the closed complex has been taken from the blocks of Ciudad Salitre killing the potential of public space of this emblematic place in the city. We are interested in Ciudad Salitre due to its location in the city which is now the geographic center of Bogotá, relatively close to the historical center. We believe in the possibility of invigorating the street without affecting the domestic life of the neighborhood. We believe in the need to densify, always improving urban quality. Not necessarily a numerical densification WWbut of activities, of flows. We are interested in Salitre city due to the capacity of the place to receive additions, sums and new concentrations.

05 QUATTRO LIBRI E UN PAIO DI OCCHIALI: FOUR BOOKS AND A PAIR OF GLASSES
GREAT EXHIBITIONS AND MUSEALIZATION Academic Work / 2018 - 19 / Pier Federico Caliari
The design of a large exhibition is one of the most important designs and professional opportunities for an architect. In fact, it constitutes an exceptional media event that stands out as the privileged area of contemporary communication in the strategies of cultural renewal of society. The importance of a major exhibition for the architect and his profession lies in some aspects of particular interest: The first aspect concerns the fact that large temporary exhibitions, with their installations to be realized inside buildings or in the urban spaces of the contemporary or historical city, have always been one of the most fertile fields of formal experimentation for the architectural project, as well as rediscovering places and contents that remained on the margins of use and knowledge. The second aspect lies in the fact that a large exhibition, due to the project commitment and the wide involvement of professions that underlies, is configured as an “epochal event, a milestone in the relationship between architecture and society. the chapters of the history of architecture that arise as
34
a result of a major temporary exhibition or that anticipate it: just think of the role played by the International Exhibitions, the current expo, the Milan Triennale or the Venice Biennale, just to mention some of the best known cases: the great exhibition is always a watershed. The third is that from a large temporary exhibition, a stable and lasting transformation of the urban fabric, of a historical building, of an archaeological area can be born. In this sense, the exhibition is the occasion, the moment and the place to promote an idea of architecture, enjoying a maximum mass media exposure and important economic resources. Finally, with specific reference to the previous point, that in the field of large temporary exhibitions are the layouts of the museum, the reversible installations aimed at opening to the public places of prestige of the past, interstitial and inaccessible urban fabrics, buried layers of the ancient city, opening to a close dialogue between contemporary architecture and historical-archaeological pre-existence.
