PRESENTACIÓN Ascaso Gallery inaugura sus espacios expositivos con la muestra VALERA-CRUZ DIEZ-SOTO, Geométricos de colección, tres de los artistas cinéticos venezolanos con más renombre internacional, cuya obra se encuentra representada en Museos y colecciones privadas en todo el mundo. Víctor Valera (1927) se mantiene activo en su taller de Caracas con una prolífica producción, tanto de pinturas como de esculturas, en relieve y tridimensional. A lo largo de toda su abstracción, desarrolla una propuesta en la que la forma y el color son el tema central de su trabajo. Dentro de su estructurada composición, se disponen en infinitas relaciones de diálogo, el punto, la línea, las formas puras geométricas y el color como variable permanente. De estos elementos deriva una perspectiva visual que combina materiales y recursos industriales con sobriedad y gracia del lenguaje. Carlos Cruz Diez (1923) cinético del color, de los patrones, del ritmo y los sistemas, es fundamentalmente un humanista cuya obra involucra emocional y físicamente al espectador, propósito que comparte con todos los miembros del movimiento plástico del op-art: «la integración del público a la obra plástica». Presentamos en la selección de sala algunas obras recientes realizadas en el taller que mantiene el artista, desde los años sesenta, en París.
Con una experiencia de 21 años de servicios museológicos, la Galería de Arte Ascaso funda su primera sede en Valencia, Venezuela, en diciembre de 1989. Allí se convierte en indiscutible referencia para artistas, coleccionistas y público en general. Más tarde, en el 2002, se inaugura en Caracas, la segunda sede, con aproximadamente 2000 m² de construcción, pionera en Venezuela en el concepto de edificación museística de galería privada. Mantiene un perfil de arte universal y de todos los tiempos, con énfasis en la proyección, tanto nacional como internacional, de maestros latinoamericanos y venezolanos.
Jesús Soto (1923-2005) famoso por sus «Penetrables», su obra nos proporciona lo que él denomina una «visión del movimiento». Su desarrollo de una nueva comprensión de las formas tradicionales representa un desafío a la imaginación, además de proporcionar un equilibrio armonioso con el espacio y su permanente recreación, física e intangible. En esta selección se exhiben piezas únicas y múltiples en mediano y pequeño formato.
PRESENTATION Ascaso Gallery opens its exhibition space with VALERA-CRUZ DIEZ-SOTO, Collectors Item Geometric Artists, a show of three of the most internationally renowned Kinetic artists in Venezuela, whose works are represented in museums and private collections across the world. Víctor Valera (1927) still works from his Caracas studio and his prolific corpus includes both paintings and relief and three-dimensional sculptures. His abstract works consistently take shape and color as their central themes and his structured compositions establish infinite dialogic relationships between dots, lines, pure geometric shapes and color, which is a permanent variable in his work. These elements are the basis for an approach to the visual that combines industrial materials and resources with the sobriety and grace of language. Carlos Cruz Diez (1923) is a Kinetic artist who works with patterns, rhythm and systems. Fundamentally, Cruz Diez is a humanist and his work engages the spectator both emotionally and physically. The «integration of the public into the work of art» is a goal that he shares with his fellow members of the Op Art movement. The selection on show includes some recent works created in the studio the artist set up in Paris in the 1960s and in which he still works today. Jesús Soto (1923-2005) is famous for his «Penetrables» and his work offers us what he termed a «vision of movement». His development of a new way of understanding traditional forms not only challenges our imaginations, but his works create a harmonious balance in the space where they are permanently recreated in both physical and intangible terms. The selection of works shown here are small and medium format one-off and multiple pieces.
Galería de Arte Ascaso has 21 years experience working in the field and first opened in Valencia, Venezuela, in December 1989 where it subsequently became an important reference point for artists, collectors, and the general public. In 2002, the second branch of the gallery was opened in Caracas, which covers an area of some 2000 m² and is a pioneer in the construction of the exhibition spaces of private galleries in Venezuela. The gallery's profile spans universal art from all periods, emphasizing on the national and international projection of Latin American and Venezuelan masters.
