Madrid (esp), Coimbra (por), Milán (ita), OAXACA (mex) 4 PAÍSES + 14 ESPACIOS + 100 ARTISTAS INTERNACIONALES + 3.000 m² La 7ª edición del Festival Internacional de Videoarte PROYECTOR será del 25 de septiembre al 05 de Octubre de 2014 y discurrirá en simultáneo en Madrid, Milán, Coimbra y Oaxaca (nueva incorporación de este año gracias a Ojo de Perro). Un año más contó con una convocatoria a la que se presentaron casi 200 propuestas de videoarte en todas sus variantes (monocanal, multicanal, videodanza, videoperformance, videoinstalaciones, videointeracción, videomapping... ) y se han seleccionado los trabajos de 26 proyectos. Mantiene la apuesta de ser un festival multi-sede e internacional. Y este año además estrena un nuevo apartado de Artista Seminal con "Èlan Vital", exposición de la artista CAROLEE SCHNEEMANN en la galería Theredoom. Que se complementará con el apartado que estrenamos en la pasada edición de Videodanza Internacional con Clara Andermatt como coreógrafa invitada. La temática de este año es Aproximación a una idea de PODER. "Acreditamos que el arte tiene que interactuar con lo que acontece en nuestro entorno. Y el estado de las cosas que están aconteciendo en estos años en los que la cultura es menospreciada e infravalorada, es realmente inaceptable. A los artistas, los quieren convertir en meros "mimos", sin voz ni voto, ante un mundo que lamentablemente va mal y puede ir a peor, sino rompemos las barreras y reivindicamos nuestras posiciones. Queremos dar visibilidad a esos artistas que están luchando, creando y enfrentándose al sistema mediante el arte. ARTISTA-SEMINAL CAROLEE SCHNEEMANN (eeuu) Meat Joy (1963-64) + Fuses (1964-1965) + Body Collage (1967) + Up To and Including her Limits (1976) Video-exposición de Carolee Schneemann, un estudio que presenta un conjunto de performance - art works-; trabajos que abarcan los tumultuosos pero emocionantes años entre 1963 y 1974, donde una extraordinaria, plena de talento, bella y joven pintora abre nuevos caminos radicales feministas y políticos. En sus propias palabras, "Una pintora que ha abandonado el lienzo para activar el espacio real y el tiempo realmente vivido''; entrelazando el film, la performance y la instalación, y al tiempo permaneciendo asumida por el Expresionismo Abstracto, premisa de la "Stream of Consciousness" (Corriente o flujo de la Consciencia), que afirma: "Todo mi trabajo se desarrolla a partir de mi historia como pintora: todos los objetos, instalaciones, películas, vídeo performances; todo aquello que se genera y toma forma". Pero las obras performativas que constituyen un aspecto de este conjunto más amplio del trabajo, son todo lo que la cultura puede poseer en sí mismo. Esa fascinación anula el resto de la obra, si bien todavía invoca una división mente/cuerpo. "A quien va a representar lo físico y lo carnal, no se le puede conceder autoridad intelectual". A la luz de los primeros "Happening", reformuló la pintura en acción viva; Carolee Schneemann, empleó su cuerpo como un componente de su propia obra autobiográfica, al tiempo que desarrollaba y ampliaba los principios visuales más allá de los límites del lienzo. www.theredoom.net

DINERO Y FUEGO Allá a mediados del siglo XVIII, Denis Diderot advertía: “Cuidado con el hombre que habla de poner las cosas en orden. Poner las cosas en orden siempre significa poner las cosas bajo su control”. Aunque no demasiado facultativo, concluir en este tipo de discurso o reflexiones viene siendo relativamente elemental pero enmarañado y poco digestivo ética y moralmente, mas hablamos de Poder. Espacio Naranjo acoge las videoinstalaciones de Cristian Guardia, Heliogábalo, Patricio Ponce Garaicoa y Olga Diego con motivo de la 7ª edición del Festival Internacional de Videoarte PROYECTOR, todo ello instaurado en un aura de investigación que se adentra en la reciprocidad entre la idea de Poder y los conceptos moralizantes de Dinero y Fuego, vistos como herramientas eficaces para lograr (des)propósitos. Con certeza las leyes de consumo de una civilización desarrollada se erigen en primer lugar por lo crematístico seguido de lo publicitario sin que la guardia patrullera del Estado pueda hacer nada por controlar una vasta cultura audiovisual que nos llega a chorros. La autonomía del dinero con etiqueta capitalista convierte a los pudientes en poderosos siendo sencillo, desde ese punto, que un puñado de ávidos empresarios manipulen la escala de valores que copan una sociedad. El gran ‘statement’ deontológico está servido: el Poder a cualquier precio. La paradoja viene dada cuando es la propia institución Arte la que investiga y ahonda en las condiciones éticas monetarias cuando ella misma es, per se, un bastión de doble moral, amén de aprovecharse del libre mercado: “El Arte es aquello de lo que uno puede quedar impune 1, rezaba Marshall McLuhan. Así bien, ¿qué es lo justo?. La pieza de Heliogábalo es un paisaje perfecto de esta doble moral y fuerza de voluntad de las personas como individuos, un tipo de acto ritual y purificación a través del fuego en contra del dinero como materia. La gran maquinaria del Poder a base de instituciones y franquicias, algo que se escapa a una política individual de autogobierno es lo que presenta Patricio Ponce Garaicoa, quien incluso pone cara al germen del problema interviniendo sobre los rostros de las divisas (Lincoln, Washington, etc) convirtiéndolos en personajes populares, aunque de igual manera y hablando de estas colonizaciones actuales la metáfora pudiera ser trasladable a la retahíla de los Larry Gagosian, Leo Castelli o el mismo Jay Joplin. La videoinstalación es una transcripción de las palabras de Giorgio Agamben, uno de los más célebres filósofos vivos de nuestro tiempo, apelando al dinero como el nuevo Dios: “El Banco –con sus funcionarios grises y especialistas- asumió el lugar de la iglesia y de sus sacerdotes y, gobernando el crédito, manipula y administra la fe que nuestro tiempo todavía trae consigo“ 2. Desde una perspectiva más individual, otro elemento con connotaciones de Poder intrínsecas es el fuego. Usado de manera reivindicativa y casi siempre intimidatoria, las fuentes clásicas nos ofrecen la versión más simbólica de este elemento en el momento en que Prometeo roba el fuego a los Dioses para dárselo a los humanos, acto que le costará el castigo eterno. Esta es la manera más poética que nos ofrece la narrativa del trasvase de poder. ¿Y quién no se acuerda del incendio de Roma acaudillado por Nerón en el año 64 d.C. fruto de la arrogancia?. Esta línea de investigación sigue el trabajo de Cristian Guardia llevando la temática al terreno actual, real y palpable de la “violencia, la justicia y el consumo” en los campos de siembra venezolanos. Fusión entre fuego y cuerpo es lo que busca el reflexivo trabajo de Olga Diego con el que pretende poner contra las cuerdas los límites sociales y culturales comúnmente aceptados y regularizados por la sociedad. Contracultura confeccionada a 29
través del fuego es la manera de manifestarse a favor de una autonomía individual y personalizada que promueve la artista. Mientras el mundo intelectual siempre acude a la ciencia, es decir, a legitimar lo que es verdadero o falso –fuego-, mientras que otra esfera más agnóstica acude a la ética y política para legitimar lo que es justo o injusto –dinero-. El funcionamiento del Poder dictamina que ninguna es independiente de la otra sino que ambas se retroalimentan 3. El rasgo principal del trabajo fuego, es la utilización del propio cuerpo como soporte en el que aplicar y explorar las posibilidades plásticas y conceptuales del elemento. Sin artificio ni manipulación en la edición posterior: es sencillamente la utilización del fuego en la búsqueda del resultado artístico-conceptual. "El que juega con fuego se quema" reza un dicho popular que habla del escarmiento a los que osaron adentrarse por “malos” y "peligrosos" caminos, o de advertencia a los que están tentados de hacerlo. La utilización del fuego sobre el cuerpo para representar la opción y decisión de toda persona (en este caso la mujer) a su auto gobierno. Ejercer el derecho de libre elección para atravesar, si se desea, la línea que separa lo lógico de lo irracional, lo "bueno" de lo "malo", lo aceptado de lo no aceptado. Además de insinuar o evidenciar que tal línea divisoria no existe o, tal vez, no esté tan definida como pensamos. Una mezcla de atracción-rechazo que cuestiona, de alguna manera, las reglas a las que por lo general estamos sometidos y aleccionados mediante un raciocinio colectivo y estereotipado. Esta animación stop motion representaría –a través de estrategias diáfanas vinculadas al poder– el control sobre cualquier anomalía e ideología ajena al discurso resguardado por las mismas. La administración de la mirada, su mecanicidad, el uso cinematográfico de la luz (film noir), la vibración del grano en la superficie de las imágenes, el movimiento de las prótesis y tecnologías lumínicas de estos establecimientos, además de las estructuras y tramas arquitectónicas que jerarquizan los espacio y acondicionan nuestro desplazamiento o apropiación del mismo, estarían, cual sistema panóptico, organizando y administrando nuestros cuerpos. S04 OCT. 19.30h RALLITO-X (esp) Confundiendo España Rallito-X no podemos decir que es un graffitero pues mi experiencia con él, de días documentando sus pintadas por Jaén para la edición ARTJaén2012, me demostró que el gusta de los grandes botes de pintura, de los rodillos, las brochas XXL. Pero no sólo eso, él no pinta por hacer su tag y decir llevo 5 millones de estos por todo el mundo, no él es diferente, es de la clase de personas, artistas o no que tienen un mundo detrás de de él, creado por él que podrá entusiasmas y asustar a más de uno. Sus teorías de caos, sus referencias extraterrestres y penes son constantes. Sería un persona para una doctoramiento freudiano. Pero este personaje, alienado, lo mismo pinta como hace anti-conferencias, como regala dinero en espacios públicos, es impredecible, pero eso si muy comprometido y multicreador. Sólo si consigues introducirte en esa mente perversa, viciada conseguirás conocer esa dicotomínia y quizás sólo para entrar en su estado, en su mundo tienen que destrozarte la cabeza. In this video the band is seen performing through alternating scenes, shot in green screen, which some are played at super slow motion and others at very high speed. In post they were composited with 3D elements and the final result sees the band playing inside the exploded machinery of a clock, whose slick and mechanical hands inexorably travel towards and all around them. They are maneuvered by the battling clock-demon woman, the cruel mistress of time, the symbolic human soul of this machine.

The way out from the end of an industrial era is a narrow, dangerous and uncertain path to the point, that can be effectively represented by the metaphor of a tightrope walker who must cross an abyss walking on a thin wire stretched at high altitudes.

This was the second protest regarding this matter, and the protesters failed to protest in Taksim square because the police surrounded it, so they started the protest from Istiklal Street. The protest didn’t last more than 4 minutes and then it was clashes with police in the allies and streets for two hours. I shot this video without having a gas mask and I faded out at one point but some protesters helped me regain consciousness.

It was built by the American Allies with the rubble of a city destroyed by World War 2, in the 20 years that followed its end. Created out of debris, on Grunewald’s plateau, Teufelsberg became the highest viewing point in Berlin and a favourable location for military observation of the city. Prior to establishing the first permanent buildings on site in the very late 1950s, American Mobile Allied listening units used to drive to various other locales throughout West Berlin hoping to gain the best vantage point for listening to Soviet, East German, and other Warsaw Pact nations military traffic. Due to the evident vantage point it could offer, a permanent listening station was then built on Teufelsberg, to be run by the National Security Agency until the fall of the Berlin wall. With the end of the Cold War, the listening station became redundant, it was closed down and its equipment removed. > VAFA – Video Art For All _ MAC ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME Curated by José Drummond Words are means to express situations or thoughts. They exist with us but they are only one option of something else. Experimental film and found footage are joined together to display some serious concerns over the position and practice of US military over the world. Somewhere in a desolate and wild place the mythical figure of a Cowboy loses his place while wandering around. A highway in LA brings the thoughts of serial killers. A computer voice in 2001 is after all a woman. So what? A women’s toilet in a Beijing nightclub is then public to us. Are we sure we want to know? Borders are spaces of confrontation or of reunion? Israel? Palestine? Turkey? Kurdistan?... And what to say about the overacting of Hollywood actors? All this are just roads that lead to Rome. And Rome is the eternal historic figure of power. This screening more than speaking about power speaks about the roads that lead to it. Just imagine that to the viewer we give blue velvet seats and to the artist the only way is to be Lee Harvey Oswald and to risk on everything to get to Rome. This screening reunites videos from the collection of VAFA – Video Art For All, a moving image festival from Macau, and is made possible by the joint efforts of the not-for-profit art association AFA – Art For All and the art platform XA – Xiǎng Art.

Gun shootouts in Miller’s Crossing by Joel Coen are re-shot with a Bolex 16mm camera and then hand processed and clashed against nonfiction images of rioting and a multi-lingual audio collage. Part 2 of Flicker On Off, a trilogy applying the idiom of experimental film and artist's video to big-budget movies in order to speak about world affairs in what could be described as an alternate essay format.

The video focuses on the relation between language and image, addressing as well the theme of the un-speakability of war. A video of nomadic Kurdish children from Caucasus settled in a remote area of the Kurdistan region in Turkey, close to the border with Iran. The children sing a very popular Turkish song called "Seni seviorum" (I love you). The video is reflecting about the infiltration of Turkish Westernized culture in isolated area of the country, where Kurdish people have been historically prevented from manifesting their own culture and speaking their own language.

The sentences, which were in fact quotes from infamous serial killers, ranged from supposed innocence and delight (‘See you in Disneyland’ and ‘I have a good time’) to dystopian visions (‘People in this time and age are brain-washed, programmed like a computer, being nothing more then puppets’, and ‘I want to see the whole city burned down’).

To create gravity outer space, the vast space station Discovery One revolves on its own axis, just as the voyage through infinite space moves in circles, forever and unnoticed. The protagonists are caught in an argumentative loop, unable to solve the question. The computer Hal 9000, a supposedly omniscient artificial intelligence, tries to give answers but a solution seems impossible. Again and again, the discussion ends up at the beginning. The two male astronauts with the same female voice represent humanity’s insatiable quest for knowledge. And knowledge is power.

> VAFA – Video Art For All _ MAC SERGIO BELINCHÓN Adiós Amigo! 15:00 2011 This project involves a revision of the imaginary American western, relocated here to the geography of Huesca, Spain, the stage for shooting of some thirty spaghetti westerns between the 60s and 70s. A cowboy leaves behind a completely abandoned town and crosses landscapes in which Huesca dressed up as Texas, in not only a geographical but also temporal movement, and that culminates in the current moment. It is about a twilight film – in this case, a crepuscular spaghetti western -, where what was has been transformed into something else; an update in the eternal topic of the search for a promised land.

The image focuses on a limited area of mirror in front of which young women are seen stopping. Between social critique and representation of a social space challenges the notion of what is public or private simultaneously questioning the empowering and dominant role of the state.

Cage has characterized his style as "nouveaux-shamanic", cultural theorists have called it "mega acting". Schofield had to say of the role, "I cannot be Caged. I cannot be controlled. Know this as you die, ever pathetic! Ever Fools!"

> VAFA – Video Art For All _ MAC MITRA AZAR Border Project // Israel-Palestine // Live #1 3:50 2013 Live #1 was shot in different places of the Westbank. The clashes between soldiers and Palestinian youth were filmed at Belein, one of the Palestinian villages that for years has enacted forms of active resistance against the Israeli occupation. Every Friday peaceful demonstrations are held in vicinity of the wall and they are regularly repressed by the Israeli army with tear gas and rubber bullets fired at head height. The images of the clashes show a surreal space-time component. The images seem to fit in an impossible simultaneity of the before, during and after the fighting. Both the Israeli army and the Palestinian youth seem to be fighting an invisible enemy. The audio emphasizes the alienating component of the image and of the action, and it is built from recordings of Orthodox Jewish prayers at the Wailing wall in Jerusalem.

Featured is ten-year-old Iman Walid, who witnessed the slaughter of her family. The Atlantic City massacre scene from Godfather III by Francis Ford Coppola is re-shot with a Bolex 16mm camera and then hand processed.Part 3 of Flicker On Off, a trilogy applying the idiom of experimental film and artist's video to big-budget movies in order to speak about world affairs in what could be described as an alternate essay format.

El proyecto está enfocado en la democratización, difusión y fomento de la cultura audiovisual y digital en el Perú y en otras regiones del mundo. Más de 800 trabajos audiovisuales de diferentes países han participado en sus cuatro ediciones desde el año 2010. A partir de la edición del año 2013, el evento está enfocado en lenguajes expresivos innovadores y abarca videoarte y producción audiovisual experimental. Si bien el concurso abierto de la entrante convocatoria está orientado hacia los artistas del Perú y América Latina, se está desarrollando un programa de colaboración e intercambio con eventos y organizaciones que comparten nuestros objetivos, en diferentes regiones del mundo.
