CII IF2 : General insurance business Qualification Success Story - PW9.ORG

I do agree that doing the CII IF2 qualification is a big commitment and you really have to want to do it! I am very motivated by learning, so I found it a pleasure to study. The qualification is graded pass/fail/distinction, so there are no marks or percentages. You have to sit an on-line case study exam and then an oral assessment (which for me was about 30 minutes). The exam is open book, but you do have to be able to justify the decisions you make. This is not an easy paper! I focused on making sure I had every bit of information I needed, but also made a note of any assumptions I had made, as this was something the examiner asked me about. I think what helped me most in the preparation for the IF2 was taking the time to review my answers with my tutor and making changes where necessary. My tutor gave me really useful feedback which helped me gain the distinction. You can book your exam at any time, but you will need to allow around 90 hours of study time. You can self-study or attend a classroom course for some or all of the qualification. If you have gained an equivalent level 2 financial services qualification within the last five years, you may be able to claim exemption from some or all of the units. The second part of the qualification is R05 Financial services products (the unit on financial services products that is suitable for general insurance professionals). You can only take this unit once you have passed all three exams in the Foundation level. The exam lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and you must get at least 50% to pass.
