The CII Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning Qualification Success Story Jenny has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. She was attracted to the CII Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning qualification because it is a recognised, recognised qualification and she wanted to further her knowledge and keep up-to-date with best practice. She says: “The Advanced Diploma is a great exam. It covers many different areas and helps you develop your skills as well as helping improve your career prospects. The exams are really well structured and very helpful because they provide you with an overview of the areas covered.” Jenny also found that she enjoyed learning about financial planning, which she describes as “very interesting”, saying: “I have learnt a lot about how financial planning works, as well as how to plan for your future.” Jenny has found that studying for the Advanced Diploma has given her greater confidence when dealing with clients, saying: “It gives me more confidence when talking to clients and understanding what they want out of their investments.” She also says that studying for the Advanced Diploma has been invaluable in terms of her career development: “It has helped me understand what I need I came to the UK from India in 2014 and luckily got a job as a Financial Consultant. I had no formal financial qualifications, so decided to undertake the CII Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning as soon as possible. I was keen to boost my knowledge of the financial services industry and improve my prospects as much as possible.
At first I was unsure about how I was going to cope with studying for the qualification whilst working full time, but once I started I quickly found that it was possible. The flexibility of online learning meant that I could study whenever it suited me, so if I had a busy day at work I could always catch up later in the evening or at weekends. The qualification not only helped me develop my practical knowledge, but also boosted my confidence by showing me exactly what I was capable of achieving. It taught me that if you put your mind to it and remain focused on your goal you’ll be able to achieve anything you want – even when it seems difficult or impossible! I have now completed the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and am well on my way to becoming a Chartered Financial Planner.
