FPR is a team on the rise, and we hope to receive some fantastic coverage with our logo placed in front of the team’s in-car cameras, as well as on the team uniforms and on Will’s helmet. James Moffat is a star in the making and his performances in his first full season last year for Dick Johnson Racing were outstanding. James has the right team behind him to get the job done. His number 18 machine is the very car that James Courtney drove to the championship victory in 2010, so keep an eye on our young charge as the season progresses. Speaking of legends, John Bowe is back for more in 2012 with his awesome Mustang in the Touring Car Masters. JB has won everything there is to win in Australian motorsport, and just keeps on keeping on. Last year he managed to add the TCM title to his long list of career achievements, and he will be looking to repeat the performance this year.

Will All the Way in 2012? Will Davison’s goal to win his first V8 Supercar Championship remains on track after a solid performance at the last round in Darwin. Davison had two pole position starts at Hidden Valley and recorded his tenth podium finish of the year. More importantly he picked up valuable points and is just 38 points behind reigning Champion and current leader Jamie Whincup. “In Darwin there was a massive difference between one lap pace and race pace, and while we struggled with our race set up in Darwin, it is pleasing to come away with some good points,” Will Davison said. “The points battle is close and it can go 150 points either way in one race, so we need to keep getting these sorts of results on days where we don’t quite get the car right.” Davison’s goal this weekend is to reclaim the Championship lead from Whincup. He is also hoping to repeat his good performance, which he had in Townsville last year, where he recorded a podium finish. “I really love racing in Townsville, the atmosphere is always good and the track is well maintained.” “Even though I haven’t had a race victory here yet I have recorded some good results so I just need to keep that momentum going this weekend.” “The next two rounds in Queensland, which will be held in Townsville and Ipswich will be crucial to the season. So I will need to do well this weekend and with the car and great team behind me, I know I can.”

Winterbottom: Right There
Winterbottom’s impressive run of podium finishes this year continued in Darwin, where he finished third in both Mark races. Winterbottom is a clear third in the Championship standings and knows he’ll have to keep that momentum going in Townsville this weekend because three time V8 Supercar Champion Craig Lowndes isn’t too far behind in fourth position. “The car had a really tough time in Darwin with the heat, however it was great to come away with two podium finishes and close to gap to my teammate Will Davison and defending Champion Jamie Whincup,” Mark Winterbottom said. Winterbottom has been impressive on the Townsville circuit in the past. He had a race victory here in 2010 and also started from pole position last year. “I just love competing in Townsville, it’s a great circuit and is always well supported by the public. I have had some really good results here in the past so hopefully I can get another race victory this weekend.”

Moffat: Street Fighter I
t’s been a tough season so far, for Doric Racer James Moffat.
At the last Championship weekend in Darwin a lack of speed, a misfiring engine and a team pitlane error saw Moffat move down the Championship rankings. However, Moffat is remaining upbeat as we reach the middle part of the season. He is confident of achieving better race results and is hoping that will start in Townsville this weekend. “I made a great start in Darwin and made up a lot of places in the opening lap, and we were humming along quite nicely until the pitstop. However, from then on things went downhill and the weekend ended pretty quickly with a misfiring engine on Sunday,” James Moffat said. Moffat did well on the Townsville circuit last year and recorded one of the best results of his 2011 season. He finished eighth in the opening race and will be looking for another top ten finish this weekend. “I am looking forward to racing again in Townsville. I really enjoyed it here last year and I know once I get more speed from the car I will be a lot more competitive.”

Dominated by Bowe
J
ohn Bowe’s impressive run in the Touring Car Masters Series continued at the last round in Darwin.
He was victorious in all three races in the top end, which means he has now won six out of the nine races held this season “What a great feeling! Three wins in a weekend is terrific and it isn’t that easy to do. My car ‘Mustang Sally’ was awesome in Darwin and she was quick from the start, which was a great sign,” Bowe said. Bowe has retaken the series lead, after a penalty at Phillip Island saw him move down the rankings. He is now focused on the next round at Queensland Raceway in August, where he is keen to stretch his advantage. “To reclaim the Championship lead is exactly what I needed to do in Darwin and now the challenge is to keep the momentum going for the rest of the year, including at the next event in Queensland.”

Honda Racing to Title Lead
D
Doric riders Jamie Stauffer and Wayne Maxwell have sent a warning to the other competitors in the Australian Superbike Championship after an impressive run of performances. Stauffer won his first race of the season at the last round at Queensland Raceway and has climbed into third position on the Championship table. “I haven’t had a great season and the round in Queensland was a real confidence booster. The conditions were really tough, however I was able to control the final race of the weekend and keep the lead,” Jamie Stauffer. Teammate Wayne Maxwell had a mixed weekend in Queensland. He finished fifth in the opening race, while a problem with his bike’s brakes saw him slip to 15th position in the second race. “The last round in Queensland was really frustrating for me. However, I take confidence knowing that I am still in touch with the first placed Josh Waters.” Maxwell is 30.5 points behind Waters heading into the next round at Phillip Island in August . It’s a circuit where he has won three out of the four races held there this season. “I am really glad the next round is at Phillip Island, a place where I have gone really well in 2012. I know I can close the gap to Waters and challenge for the title this year,” Maxwell said. Stauffer holds a one half of a point lead over the fourth placed Glen Allerton. He is looking to keep his impressive form going at the Phillip Island track. “I need to keep my momentum going at the next round and hopefully I can close the gap to the top two positions,” Stauffer said.

imilar to the Albert Park Race track in Melbourne, the Townsville circuit is set in parkland close to the CBD.
The track winds its way through Reid Park, where specially constructed roads were built for 70 per cent of the circuit. This will be the fourth time the V8 Supercars will travel to Townsville and it’s become a favourite with the drivers and spectators with fast speeds and plenty of bends in the 2.86 kilometre circuit. Will Davison loves competing on the Townsville circuit, and going on recent form, which includes a podium finish it’s
14
not hard to see why. Davison will be hard to beat in Townsville, especially if his car continues to get some good speed. FPR Teammate Mark Winterbottom has also enjoyed success in Townsville and more importantly he knows how to win here, which will be a big advantage this weekend. Both FPR drivers will need to watch out for reigning Champion Jamie Whincup who has dominated this circuit since it was included on the V8 Supercar calendar in 2009.
Whincup has won three out of the six races held in Townsville. James Moffat is looking to improve on his season and this weekend’s round in Townsville will be the perfect place to do it. Moffat finished in the top ten here last year and knows a mid-season revival could be on the cards in 2012 with a good result.

oric has been involved in V8 Racing since 2004. Doric moved into Motor Racing as a way of building relationships with their clients, and entertaining their guests in an exciting, fast paced environment, with money can’t buy experiences. Rupprecht Motorsports was Doric’s first partner in V8 Supercar Racing, a partnership that lasted four rounds in the 2004 season. 2005 Doric forged a partnership with PCR & Team Principal Paul Cruickshank, a relationship that lasted a total of six seasons. 2005 was Doric’s first year with PCR which was also in the V8 Development Series. Phil Scifleet drove for PCR and had a successful season, finishing 6th in the championship, recording five wins along the way. 2006 saw Doric and PCR moved up to the main V8 championship series. Doric moved from title sponsor to associate sponsor, taking up a spot on the front spoiler and also the rear of the car, the same sponsorship space that was used for several seasons. Doric continued to sponsor PCR in 2009 in its new identity of Wilson Security Racing. A Doric sponsored car graced the podium for the first time in the hands of Fabian Coulthard at the Symmons Plains Raceway round that year. The 2010 Doric Racing program incorporated Tim Slade in the #47 Wilson Security Racing V8 Supercar, #18 John Bowe in the Touring Car Masters Series, #99 James Moffat in the V8 Development Series, as well #27 Jamie Stauffer and #33 Jordan Burgess riding Doric Ducati’s in the Australian Superbike Championship. 2011 saw the Doric Racing program move its support behind leading title chance, Ford Performance Racing, with their drivers Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom. James Moffat stepped up to the main V8 Championship with reigning champions Dick Johnson Racing, while Wayne Maxwell joined Jamie Stauffer at Team Motologic, with the outfit moving to Hondas in the Australian Superbike championship. John Bowe will again be flew the Doric flag, with his awesome Mustang in the Touring Car Masters Series. For 2012, the Doric Racing family remained unchanged.
