Dear Members,

I am delighted that members present and voting at the Monday 25 April Special General Meeting (SGM), gave the green light to proceed w/ith the Upgrading and Development of the Club's Master Plan \with a resounding

vote for the Modified Design, and an estimated expenditure of $21 million. I believe this vote to be a forward thinking progressive vote for our Club's future and to enable the Club to retain its premier status for many years to come,

1 sincerely thank all members who turned out for the SGM and I am pleased to report that the spirit of the views discussed, for and against, were along the lines of High Court Judge VK Rajah's comments in his conclusion of the recent court case. He urged members to "calmly and sensibly take stock current entanglement... and act collectively with immediacy to reconcile their differences".

I know many of you are keen to have our pool open again. Thank you for your patience, I am sure you will enjoy the new surrounds and newly

the construction phases.

This year's Annual General Meeting is set to take place on Monday 30 May, again please make a note in your diary and come along and participate. Your presence Is needed to elect and support the General Committee. The GC will provide a performance report for the last 12 months' work and a proposed rule change to Rule 458 disputes; consultation; conciliation, mediation, arbitration and legal proceedings.

I am also pleased to report that both pools have opened on Saturday 30

Spanish Flamenco Evening Friday 8 April 2005 "Ole!" It's Flamenco Night! The stream of lovely ladies with roses and carnations of red and white in their hair really

lighted up the Churchill Room with the Spanish atmosphere. With the flow of laughter, chattering and exchanges of pleasantries and gaiety was the order of the evening. When the commencement of the buffet was announced, it

suddenly seemed rather quiet as people milled around the beautiful spread on the tables. We were really spoilt for choice. There were Chilled Tomato Gazpacho, Seafood Paella, Snails In Light Spiced Sauce just to name a few, and

to top it all was the pallela which I myself can never resist.

Clinking of wine glasses, voices and laughter were brougjjj^ to silence when the crescendo of guitars trailed into the roc

by Christopher Tan and Sani Mursalim. The sounds of castanets and clicking of heels made the introduction of the dancers, who captured and kept the audience spell bound

for a good half hour or so. The evening was not over yet as the Latino band took over the stage and the crowd took over the dance floor with their

variety of Latin steps. They Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Mambo, Salsa and Merengue into the wee hours of Saturday morning. Lilian Lee

Over the years Tanglin Club golf has played a number of interciub matches and now have core group of clubs whom we play against annually. During this time we have gained a reputation for being one the most competitive, honest and lively golf clubs. Sure we have our share of sandbaggers but they are candid and reliable sandbaggers. Our opponents love to beat us for the same reason we like to

see Tiger come second, it does not happen very

often. We still have five matches to play this year and urge you all to please give these matches the respect they deserve and thereby

maintain our standing within the Singapore golf community. We have managed to secure SICC new course as the venue for the Golf Championship, be sure to book your place early. Fred Kloppers

Sunday 10 April saw four courts taken over by many of our young members who were able to play in a fun junior tennis tournament.

For many, it was their first taste of tournament play, and there certainly were many nervous young players eagerly pacing around waiting to play their first match. One young player had to call her father in Italy for calming
