ummer On June 2, 2006 students eagerly awaited to turn in their last final before start1ng their three months of freedom. This summer meant something different for every student at Central. Summer, for some, was a time to relax by hanging out with friends, or tanning at the pool. It was a time to travel around the country and the globe. Students went everywhere from Colorado to Alaska to Korea to Scotland. For others, the hect1c schedules continued with sports and work, but for all, it was a time to enjoy.

For some students, they dread going back to school. For others their hearts fill with excitement and seeing classmates for what seems like the first time in ages. On the first day back halls fill with nervous freshmen and confident upperclassmen. Students try to find friends to compare their schedules and lunches. The back to school day symbolizes a fresh start, a new beginning, and a shift to enhance yourself into a better student and person.

Hello Dolly Audience members from all over Champaign-Urbana said "Hello", to Dolly Levi and the cast members of the 2006 spring musical, Hello Dolly. Central students brought this classic musical to life, as they sang and danced their way through both comedy and tragedy. This musical follows the schemeing Dolly Levi, [Alysia Prosser) on her journey to set up the wealthy Vandergelder (John Deal) with Ms. Malloy (Abby Lange), but along the way she finds out she is in love with him. Dolly is then faced with the challenge of finding the perfect man for Ms. Malloy. The characters shuffle around hoping for redemption they fear will never come. Rumors Rumors is the intriguing mystery of a dinner party. As the guests arrive at the party, they discover the hosts and hostess are missing, and no one knows what happened to them. As more guests arrive, stories are made up to explain where they are. These tales get out of hand when gunshots are heard. Eventually the police get involved and ask for the owners of the house. After a thorough investigation, the missing couple is found. This play has a cast of funny characters, great acting and a suspenseful plot that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Prom was an evening in Paris for all of Central 's juniors and seniors. When students arrived they were whisked away by a twenty foot Eiffle Tower, a Parisian Cafe, and projected French Art. Upon entering the majestic Lincoln Square Mall, students were greeted by the always charming Mr. Sparks and Mr. Freyman. While leaving, students recieved a picture frame and a cup both proclaiming,"An Evening in Paris." After the dance students slipped out of their glamourous dresses and suits and put on recreational clothes. This year's Post Prom was held at Arrowhead Bowling Alley where students wrestled in Sumo suits, played cards in a casino and bowled strikes late into the early morning.

Graduation is the closing of the door to high school and the opening of the door to the rest of your life . It is a life changing event. Last year graduation was held at the infamous Krannert Center. For tweleve years their teachers have taught them all they could and have prepared them for what is to come . Seniors' parents have been there for them, guiding them through life. From elementary to high school, teachers, peers, and parents have watched seniors grow and become the people they are today. As they say goodbye to family and friends, seniors will always remember their h1gh school days, but will be happy that it's all over Despite endless nights of homework and crazy nights the year has ended . Now the seniors of '06 move on and look ahead to the future .

This year's Pep Rally reved up students, faculty and football players for the homecoming game on Friday, September 29, 2006. During the pep rally, OJ White Boy entertained the crowd with his wh1tty comments and free gifts. Central's band played several tunes to enhance the excitement of students as they entered the gym The Pepettes and the cheerleaders showed students their talent with jazzy routines that pumped up the crowd. Coach Jacobs and several varsity football players energized students with a round of Central Jacks. After the Pep Rally and parade, students partied at the bonfire, while hanging out with their friends and watching, or playing in the Powder Puff football game. Students could hardly contain their excitement over the homecoming dance and their high hopes for the homecoming game.

The Game The Homecoming Game is the last part of the festivities during spirit. At the game, Central students enjoyed cheering our maroons on for a victory. Unfortunatley Centrals hard effort didn't come up with a win. Many students came to support the maroons. Despite the loss, Central students did not let this heart rench1ng loss get to their heads that weekend, and looked ahead to the homecoming dance!

Homecoming Central students stepped out for a Red Carpet Affair this fall for 2006's homecoming. Seely hall was transformed into a glamourous hall complete with its very own red carpet. The walls were draped in gauzy red and gold curtains and the occasional celebrity could be seen peeking from behind them . Students showed off their newest dance moves in a gym that could hardly be recognized, because of the giant Hollywood sign towering over the dance floor. Central students were decked out in everything from formal dresses to custom air brushed tee shirts. At the end of the night students partied like celebrites.

University Ave. central's students wait sixteen years or more to gain their freedom and get their driver's liscense . The process of getting a driver's license takes t1me; pass1ng driver's ed, getting your permit, driving fifty hours and passing several tests are required to drive . Those students lucky enough to own their own car often have to fight off other students for Central's few convenient parkIng places . Students with their own cars enjoy going out to lunch, shopping and the movies with their friends . While cars make you independent they also come with a huge responsibility. Students have to pay for gas, insurence, parking tickets, maintenance and more! Although having a car is a huge commitment, it is a luxury that most students appericiate . Lunch Most students say that their favorite time of the day is lunch. Lunch is a time for Central students to satisfy their hunger, hang with their friends and take a well earned break from their difficult classes and tests . Central students either walk to their houses, eat in the park, go to the cafeteria, or go out to lunch. Students bring their lunch, buy it in the cafeteria, or buy it at a restaurant. Students frequently cram their friends into their cars, speed to a restaurant, eat lunch in five minutes, and then speed back to school for their afternoon classes, all in thirty five minutes. From McDonald's to Subway and Arby's to Za's Central students sure do love their lunch time . Here is a look at Central's hot spots during lunch time .

The 2006 Central baseball team had much to live up to after a record breaking 2005 season. Central won the Big 12 title and had the most wins in school history. As it turned out, this year's team was not only able to match last year's success, but surpass it. Central was a repeat Big 12 Conference Champ and recorded a new school record of 30 wins in one season. This year's team had tremendous depth. They had a school record team batting average of .388 and also four All Big 12 first team selections and three All Area first team selections. Central finished the season with a total record of 30-7 and a Conference record of 11-2. The team ended the season with an unfortunate loss to Bloomington in the Regional Championship and are now left with high

The Lady Maroons 2005-2006 soccer season faced difficulties because of injuries and loss of players. The girls had to rebuild their team from the ground up and put in an 110 percent effort to win seven great victories against powerhouse teams such as Bloomington and Centennial. Early on in the season they had to play against many of the top teams. However, as the season progressed, the team improved with practice and determination. Team Captains Jackie Ford, Sidney Sheehan, Liz Clegg, and Alexsis Johnson helped the team stay focused for their games. It was evident however, that the team had much support from their friends and family members. Without those faces in the crowd, the motivation would be lost. Next year they will have an impressive group of seniors to help motivate and guide the younger players toward a victorious season.

The 2006 football team was in a rebuilding process after a year that had Central making the playoffs. Nevertheless, they were still able to impress others with a strong defense that kept Central close in most every game they played. Offensively the team shows promise and will only improve as the two young quarterbacks continue to gain experience. In an interesting game plagued by turnovers on both sides, Central was able to gain an emotional victory early in the season against Urbana. Another victory came when Central beat Decatur MacArthur after kicker Andrew Newman kicked for 10 points. Unfortunately, Central's overall record at 2-7 was that of a reconstruction year. However, with the experience gained, Central is set to make a

They had four swimmers advance to State on the individual level. These swimmers were Jon Virnr, Michael Lacine, Rob Miles and Collin McGill. The team was lead to victory this year by their dynamic coaches Will Barker and Matt Hopkins. The team enjoyed many top finishes in several very competitive tournaments throughout the season. These hard earned titles included finishing second at the Champaign Centennial Charger Invitational. The boy's team also placed third at the Bloomington High School Invitational. The
team relied greatly on the talent of seniors, Nico Perez, Jon Virnr and Sophomore Mike Lacine.
