ELVIS NEGRO, UN MAL NECESARIO EMERXENCIAS \ ELVIS NEGRO, A NECESSARY EVIL

Quién es? Marcos Romero (voz, guitarra, bajo, sintetizadores y letras) ideó Elvis Negro “como un nombre bajo el que esconderse para hacer el mal, un mal necesario”. Según él corresponde a “un señor puertorriqueño. El apellido debe ser bastante común, la mala hostia de los padres al ponerle el nombre al muchacho no”. “Llevo toda la vida haciendo canciones que necesito compartir sin saber cómo, y tener un grupo es una buena excusa para que otras personas tiren de mi hacia la luz”, añade. Junto con Edu Poch (Ocre, Nouvelle Cuisine) saqué el primer disco en 2014. Un tiempo después tenía más canciones, mi vida interior seguía camino del infierno, Edu estaba ocupado, y María Costa (batería) apareció milagrosamente del infinito para ayudarme a sacar la música a flote. María y yo nos conocimos hace ya bastante y tocamos juntos en la última etapa de Franc3s. Franc3s desapareció y parte de mi vida también”. Elvis honorario “Hay un montón de gente detrás: Blas Silva, Rafa Anido, Rubén Domínguez o Rodrigo Caamaño son tan responsables o más que Edu, María o yo de que esta música exista. Los caballeros de la duna, magníficos truhanes que construyen en el subconsciente colectivo galaico la necesidad de que lo extraordinario suceda”. A qué suenan? Noise, indie, shoegaze, post punk, con textos en castellano. Qué les influye? “Me gustaría pensar que hay discurso y que tiene coherencia. Pero no creo que sea así… Más allá, claro, del hecho de que no soportaría hacer las cosas de una forma distinta a la que las hago. No me gusta la gente de la escena quejándose de la escena, ni el mero hecho de

que exista algo llamado escena. Lo único que me motiva es pensar es que alguien, en algún lado, será capaz de cerrar los ojos y escuchar la música”. En directo “No me gusta tocar en directo. Soy un egocéntrico de libro, y supongo que no acepto que se esté hablando en los concierto y eso. Todas las veces que he tocado por ahí he tenido el impulso de querer parar de cantar y gritar o ponerme a llorar, a ver si así alguien presta atención. La gente quiere bailar, nadie quiere escuchar. Edu antes y María ahora tratan de que normalice eso, pero no me gusta el contacto con la gente. La gente no es suave. La gente me hace llorar y yo hago llorar a la gente. Entiendo a las moléculas, pero no entiendo a la gente”. Qué han publicado? En 2014 un primer disco de ocho temas, “estaba en llamas / el salvaje abandono”, grabado por Roberto Mallo. Sacaron 100 copias en vinilo en el sello Prenom y vendieron 2. “Sigue habiendo una caja de vinilos en mi salón que me recuerda todos los días que el entusiasmo está sobrevalorado”. En septiembre de este año salió el single “HELIO (TROPO) / VANADIO (EL SALVAJE ABANDONO), autoeditado y producido por Rodrigo Caamaño (Triángulo de Amor Bizarro). “La idea es grabar las canciones cómodamente y sacarlas de dos en dos hasta que no podamos más. Sueño con un recopilatorio de singles con 100 canciones que pueda escuchar en el asilo en el que acabe mis días. Más allá de eso creo que no hay nada. La muerte lenta”, concluye. They pulled out 100 vinyl copies with the Prenom label and sold 2. "There's still a box of vinyls in my living room that reminds me every day that the enthusiasm is overrated". In September of this year came the single "HELIO (TROPO) / VANADIO (EL SALVAJE ABANDONO), self-published and produced by Rodrigo Caamaño (Triángulo de Amor Bizarro). — There’s a lover in the story But the story’s still the same – “You Want It Darker” (2016) “Creo que te seguiré muy pronto”, se despedía este verano Leonard Cohen de su musa enferma de leucemia, Marianne Ihlen. Búsquenla en la contraportada de aquel viejo disco, envuelta en una toalla blanca y sentada frente a la máquina de escribir. “Estoy tan cerca de ti que, si extiendes tu mano, podrás alcanzar la mía”, continúa la carta de apenas diez líneas, tan escueta como conmovedora, que condensa el tiempo que compartieron juntos, en su refugio de las islas griegas, durante los años sesenta. Él solía decirle que era la mujer más bella que había visto nunca; ella, que el suyo fue un amor a primera vista, en blanco y negro y rodado a cámara lenta. Pero como dice la canción, ustedes ya conocen la historia; al menos, estoy seguro de que podrán tararearla. Marianne se marchó a finales de verano y, en su última entrevista concedida al New Yorker el pasado mes de septiembre, Cohen confesaba estar "listo para morir". En un año inevitablemente marcado por el gesto final de David Bowie, anticipándose a su propia muerte con la publicación de Blackstar, los paralelismos entre ambas despedidas resultan evidentes. Salvo por el hecho de que los versos de “You Want It Darker” no son de los que reconfortan y, más que un epitafio, puede interpretarse como un corte de mangas: "Dejo la mesa /

me salgo del juego / no conozco a la gente / que aparece en tu portarretratos". La víspera de su muerte, la web de Inmigración de Canadá se colapsó ante el alud de peticiones de asilo político tras la victoria de Donald Trump y, en vista del rumbo que han ido tomado los acontecimientos, los más escépticos con “El Futuro” proferimos pronósticos funestos y nos aferramos a la música como a un clavo ardiendo. Hasta la belleza, con un violín en llamas. A través del pánico hasta estar a salvo. Es entonces cuando Cohen dobla definitivamente la servilleta y nos deja a todos con la palabra en la boca, desconcertados. “Te juro por esta canción / por todo lo que he hecho mal / que te compensaré”. No es la mejor manera de decir adiós pero, al fin y al cabo, la muerte forma parte de la vida y nos exige tomar cierta distancia si realmente aspiramos a comprenderla. “No me considero un pesimista”, declaró Leonard Cohen en cierta ocasión. “Creo que un pesimista es alguien que está esperando que llueva. Y yo me siento empapado hasta los huesos”. Su triunfo final es consustancial a la aparente derrota del género humano y se fundamenta en una serie de abdicaciones personales que lo llevaron de poeta vocacional a verse inmerso, casi en contra de su voluntad, en la floreciente escena folk de Nueva York. A abandonar su retiro espiritual tibetano para someterse a una clase de amor más mundano, haciendo de la exhibición impúdica de los afectos un arte si cabe aún más elevado, ascético a la par que profano, pero nunca exento de reclamo erótico ni sentimental. No es extraño que la poesía de Lorca le calara tan hondo, a mil besos de profundidad. Pero a veces llegan cartas con olor a espinas que no son románticas, que diría Manuel Alejandro. Canciones de amor y odio que nos conceden un último resquicio para la esperanza: “no puedo correr más / con esa gente sin ley / mientras que los asesinos en las altas esferas / dicen sus oraciones en voz alta (...) Hay una grieta, una grieta en todo / Así es como la luz entra”. O mejor dicho, nos traspasa; a imagen y semejanza de esa voz profunda en el umbral de la muerte.

"I think I'll follow you very soon", Leonard Cohen said this summer of his muse, suffering leukemia, Marianne Ihlen. Look for her on the back cover of that old record, wrapped in a white towel and sitting in front of the typewriter. "I am so close to you that, if you extend your hand, you can reach mine," continues the ten-line letter, as brief as touching, that condenses the time they shared together in their shelter of the Greek islands during the sixties. He used to tell her that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen; she, that their love was a love at first sight, in black and white and shot in slow motion. But as the song says, you already know the story; at least, I'm sure you can hum it. Marianne left in late summer and, in her last interview with the New Yorker last September, Cohen confessed to be "ready to die." In a year inevitably marked by the final gesture of David Bowie, anticipating his own death with the publication of Blackstar, the parallels between both farewells are evident. Except for the fact that the verses of "You Want It Darker" are not comforting and, more than an epitaph, can be interpreted as flipping the bird: "I leave the table / I am out of the game / I do not know the people / that appears in your picture frame". On the eve of his death, Canada's Immigration website collapsed before the avalanche of political asylum claims following the victory of Donald Trump and, given the course of events, the more skeptical with "The Future" uttered terrible predictions and clang to music like a burning nail. To abandon his Tibetan spiritual retreat to submit to a more mundane kind of love, making the impudent display of affections an even higher, ascetic art as well as profane, but never free of erotic or sentimental claims. It is not strange that the poetry of Lorca touched him so deeply, a thousand kisses deep. But sometimes letters arrive with the smell of thorns that are not romantic, as Manuel Alejandro would say. Songs of love and hate that give us one last loophole for hope: "I cannot run anymore / with those people without law / while the killers in the high spheres / say their prayers out loud ... There is a crack, a crack in everything / This is how the light comes in". Or rather, it trespasses us; in the image of that deep voice on the threshold of death.

Cada visita de Crystal Fighters a tierras gallegas es una apuesta segura de éxito. La primera vez formaron parte de la programación de aquel maravilloso 981HERITAGE SON Estrella Galicia de 2010 en A Coruña cuando llegaron con su álbum de debut “Star Of Love” (2010) y la discoteca Playa Club se les quedó pequeña. Estaba claro que serían cada vez más grandes y su audiencia necesitaría mayores espacios para disfrutar de su espectacular directo, una fiesta continua en la que resulta imposible dejar de bailar. Después de los llenazos de Santiago y Vigo en 2013 de la mano de su segundo y esperado álbum “Cave Rave” (2013), llegó el increíble concierto del verano de 2014 en la Plaza de la Quintana de donde miles de seguidores peregrinaron hacia Santiago de Compostela para disfrutar de su directo. Crystal Fighters regresan para presentarnos

su esperado nuevo disco “Everything Is My Family” (2016). La única fecha en Galicia superó todas las expectativas. En junio se anunció la fecha y unas semanas más tarde comenzó la venta anticipada. La respuesta fue brutal, vendiendo en los primeros 7 días más de la mitad del aforo para su concierto del 3 de diciembre en la Sala Pelícano de A Coruña. Dos meses antes de la cita ya eran Sold Out y la expectación continuaba siendo tan grande que la banda decidió ofrecer a sus seguidores una segunda fecha el día 4 en el mismo recinto. El grupo británico de raíces navarras camina fusionando géneros e instrumentos tan dispares como los sintetizadores y la tradicional txalaparta vasca. Las voces y los coros ponen el contrapunto que completa y convierte a su música en un espectáculo único, casi una religión. Sus fieles se cuentan por millones y nunca les defraudan. La fiesta está siempre garantizada y sus conciertos son unas verdaderas descargas de adrenalina. La música de Crystal Fighters ya es universal. Pocos grupos pueden decir lo mismo cuando tienen apenas una década de existencia. Pero lo que les hace aún más especiales son sus directos que hacen de cada concierto algo único e irrepetible. Crystal Fighters ya han puesto en cartel de Sold Out en sus primeras fechas del mes de diciembre. Los días 1 y 2 habrá lleno en Lisboa (Portugal). Como ya os anunciamos para el 3 ya no hay entradas en la Sala Pelícano de A Coruña y todo parece indicar que tampoco quedarán tickets para la segunda cita coruñesa el día 4 en el mismo recinto. Every visit of Crystal Fighters to Galicia is a sure bet for success. The first time they were part of the programming of that wonderful 981HERITAGE "SON Estrella Galicia" 2010 in A Coruña when they arrived with their debut album "Star Of Love" (2010) and the Playa Club was too small. It was clear that they would get bigger and their audience would need more space to enjoy their spectacular live concerts, a continuous party in which it is impossible to stop dancing. After the sold out in Santiago and Vigo in 2013 with the second and awaited album "Cave Rave" (2013), came the incredible concert of the summer of 2014 in the Plaza de la Quintana from where thousands of followers peregrinated to Santiago de Compostela to enjoy their live concert. Crystal Fighters are back to present their awaited new album "Everything Is My Family" (2016). The only date in Galicia exceeded all expectations. In June the date was announced and a few weeks later the advance sale began. The response was brutal, selling in the first 7 days more than half the capacity for the concert on December 3 in the Pelicano in A Coruña. Two months before the date they were sold out and the expectation continued to be so great that the band decided to offer its followers a second date on the 4th in the same venue. The British band of Navarran roots fuses genres

and instruments as diverse as synthesizers and the traditional Basque txalaparta. The voices and choirs put the counterpoint that completes and turns their music into a unique show, almost a religion. Their fans are millions and they are never disappointed. The party is always guaranteed and their concerts are a real adrenaline rush. The music of Crystal Fighters is already universal. Few bands can say the same when they have barely a decade of existence. But what makes them even more special are their concerts that are concert something unique and unrepeatable. Going to A Town (Geffen, 2007) A la luz de los resultados, los primeros versos suenan sobrecogedores: “Voy a una ciudad que se ha quemado / a un lugar que ha caído en desgracia / Estoy tan cansado de América". Recuperada de esa cumbre del pop barroco titulada Release the Stars, transmite a la perfección el estado anímico del artista tras la

derrota demócrata en las urnas. Nacido en Nueva York, pero criado en Canadá, quién sabe si descartará hacer las maletas y procurarse el asilo de la doble nacionalidad. “Hacer mi propio camino a casa / No voy a estar solo / Conseguí una vida para llevar / América, conseguí una vida para llevar”.

I’m Afraid of Americans (Virgin, 1997) Compuesta a cuatro manos con Brian Eno, supone una de las incursiones experimentales más afortunadas del Bowie de los años noventa. La aportación de Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) a esta fábula alienante sobre el neoliberalismo norteamericano no se limita al papel secundario que desempeña en el inquietante videoclip. Su presencia resulta decisiva y se deja sentir en los teclados crepitantes, el gesto agónico y las letras expresionistas: “Le temo a los americanos / Le temo al mundo / Temo no poder ayudarte”. Un reflejo de la incertidumbre que se cierne sobre Occidente, como una sombra, desde un lujoso ático de Manhattan.

Composed with four hands with Brian Eno, it is one of the Bowie's most successful experimental raids of the nineties. The contribution of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) to this alienating fable about American neoliberalism is not limited to the secondary role it plays in the disturbing video clip. His presence is decisive and is felt in the crackling keyboards, the agonizing gesture and expressionist lyrics: "I'm afraid of Americans / I'm afraid of the world / I'm afraid I can't help it”. Inicio una nueva fase en mi rehabilitación de la rotura del tendón de Aquiles ocurrida a finales de junio. Necesito hacer deporte varias veces a la semana de forma moderada y desde hace unas semanas combino la natación con los bailes de salón. Ambas actividades tienen lugar en un club deportivo de mi ciudad. En los bailes de salón somos la pareja más

joven con diferencia. Tenía ciertos prejuicios frente a ese tipo de bailes y los he ido superando con la práctica de los diferentes estilos. Tranquilos que ni bachata, merengue o tango me harán amar el reguetón.

El Nobel de la música

Cuando la academia sueca anunció a mediados de octubre que el Premio Nobel de Literatura era para Bob Dylan la polémica estaba servida. Los más puristas decían que no era un escritor, que desvirtuaba la importancia del premio, que otros se lo merecían más que él, que su obra literaria no era tan extensa como para recibir el premio,... La realidad es que los músicos y letristas llevan décadas “reclamando” su sitio en los Nobel. Tengo sentimientos encontrados. Considero que las letras de las canciones de Dylan son verdaderos poemas pero antes deberían premiar a otros grandes escritores (o músicos).

Son uno de los grupos más populares de la escena estatal, como se puede apreciar por el "todo vendido" de su primer concierto en la Sala Pelícano. Muchos esperaban expectantes el nuevo trabajo de Denis Villeneuve, “La llegada”. Algunos porque tienen muchas esperanzas en este canadiense tras trabajos como “Enemy” o “Sicario”, donde daba muestras de acercamientos muy personales a géneros muy pautados. Otros, entre los que me incluyo, con curiosidad y pavor por su toque en la ciencia ficción, una vez que ha sido el elegido para la secuela de “Blade Runner”. Pues bien, el examen ha sido superado con nota alta y son

muchos los que ven en su film un candidato a los Oscar. Vayamos al punto de partida de “La Llegada”, sorprendentemente basada en un relato corto del escritor Ted Chiang de no más de 50 páginas, con saltos en tiempo y espacio, debates filosóficos sobre el lenguaje y principios físicos, que hacen dificultoso para el lector entender la obra. Un resumen en modo bruto sería que el lenguaje que usamos para expresarnos determina nuestra forma de ser, actuar y relacionarnos

con el mundo. Así que la historia sobre los esfuerzos de una lingüista por entenderse con unos alienígenas y como eso afecta a su forma de percibir su mundo y su vida, es la base de toda la película. Lo increíble es que Villeneuve consigue armar una película de género que contiene algunos de los mejores momentos desde obras maestras como “Encuentros en la tercera fase”, “”2001, Odisea en el espacio” o “Blade Runner”, y superando detalles intuidos en “Interstellar”.

¿Demasiada filosofía para una cinta de género? En las manos de un orfebre como Denis Villeneuve la película encuentra su camino hasta atrapar al espectador, muy parecido a lo que ocurre en los films de Terrence Malick o Nolan. Las comparaciones, por supuesto, son inevitables y en la mente del cinéfilo emergerán, y no sin razones. Esa visión mística del mundo y esas bellísimas escenas que se envuelven con la música nos llevarán al universo Malick. De igual la forma que la reiteración y

That mystical vision of the world and those beautiful scenes that are wrapped with music will take us to the Malick universe. Un proyecto muy querido por él, ya que lleva en su cabeza desde hace 20 años. La historia de una

oruga tan pequeña que puede ser aplastada con los dedos iba a ser uno de los cortometrajes que se exhibieran en el Museo Ghibli, pero el maestro no contento con el resultado ha preferido volver a comenzar desde cero y darle forma de largo.

TNT apuesta por la adaptación a televisión de la película 'Snowpiercer', en línea de con sus series postapocalípticas. La película, de 2013, era el primer trabajo en inglés del director coreano Bong Joon-ho, y aportaba unas grandes dosis de humor a su historia de revuelta o conformismo con lo ya conocido. El estudio fM –del arquitecto Patxi Mangado-, es el autor de este edificio de viviendas situado en este nuevo barrio madrileño (en donde se encuentra la Ciudad deportiva del Real Madrid), proyecto que ha sido distinguido con el premio del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid en 2015. Los arquitectos proyectistas –el mencionado Mangado y Julio Clúa- han buscado la orientación más adecuada de los bloques de viviendas en una parcela de geometría difícil, organizando el programa habitacional en dos pastillas orientadas a este y a oeste. Dicha organización evita la orientación norte y potencia el espacio público de la manzana abierto hacia el sur, en donde se localizan los usos comerciales, cafeterías, restaurantes, etc. Los espacios ajardinados interiores y la piscina gozan así de un soleamiento y recogimiento acordes con su funcionalidad. El sistema compositivo de las fachadas de las viviendas dispone de elementos como las contraventanas móviles para que durante el verano no se produzca la incidencia directa del sol, posibilitando de igual forma que durante el invierno se tengan las ventajas energéticas de la incidencia del mismo sobre los espacios habitacionales. “La idea de generar el mínimo número de núcleos de comunicación vertical posibles, ha sido fundamental”, comentan los arquitectos, en un proyecto arquitectónico en el que no solo la estética ha sido la base del diseño, sino que la eficiencia en

la organización y la economía de medios han sido los dos pilares a la hora de la elección de las tipologías. Entre los trabajos de este estudio destacan el Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Pamplona “Baluarte”, el Museo de Arqueología de Vitoria, el Pabellón de España para la Exposición Internacional Zaragoza 2008 y el recientemente inaugurado Museo BBAA de Asturias en Oviedo. Ha recibido el premio RIBA, el FAD de Arquitectura y el Premio de Arquitectura Española 2009 entre otros. Premio Emporis al mejor diseño

El premio para la mejor construcción de 2015 se ha ido para Shanghái y concretamente para el segundo rascacielos más alto del mundo. Shanghai Tower es un bello edificio convertido en icono del barrio de Pudong desde que se inauguró el año pasado. Símbolo de modernidad, es el más alto de toda China y en el mundo solo le supera la torre Burj al Khalifa de Dubai. Creado por el arquitecto chino Jun Xia y la firma Gensler de San Francisco, es su “retorcida” figura lo más característico de su original diseño, que es, además, eficiente en la resistencia al viento y al consumo de agua por aprovechar la de la lluvia.

— Esta impresionante construcción obra del renombrado estudio de arquitectos Herzog & Demeuron ha conseguido integrar a la perfección una construcción moderna con el romanticismo de la vieja central eléctrica de Bankside.

Si bien los más puristas seguirán diciendo que la auténtica piedra angular de las galerías de arte TATE Modern está en Liverpool, ya nadie puede negar que la nueva TATE Modern en Londres está en la cumbre de los mejores museos de arte moderno del mundo. Tras años de espera, controversia y expectación, el pasado Junio abría sus puertas el nuevo edificio de la galería Londinense. Esta impresionante construcción obra del renombrado estudio de arquitectos Herzog & Demeuron ha conseguido integrar a la perfección una construcción moderna con el romanticismo de la vieja central eléctrica de Bankside. Respetando en todo momento la línea del edificio principal, la firma Suiza decidió apostar por el ladrillo como seña de identidad y continuidad de la firma TATE Modern. nar un interior angostó, las percepciones nos engañan, pues entre sus paredes el espacio alcanza su máxima expresión. Con sus diez plantas de elevados techos han conseguido el volumen extra que se requería para exponer el gran archivo de este centro del arte, dando ese salto de calidad dentro de la lista de grandes salas del arte moderno del mundo, sector últimamente copado por los museos Estadounidenses en Nueva York, Chicago o San Francisco. La ampliación del nuevo edificio se abrió al público con una serie de exposiciones liderada por el nombre de dos grandes mujeres del arte del siglo XX: La Estadounidense Georgia O-Keeffe con sus vibrantes flores, en una exposición temporal que nos mostró la gran paleta de colores de la artista que ha alcanzado los mayores precios en subastas de arte.

Y por otro lado, la inconformista Jean Burgerois, mundialmente conocida por sus rompedoras esculturas de arañas, como su obra “The Mother” que grandiosamente ilumina la entrada del Museo Guggenheim en Bilbao. Pero visitar la nueva TATE no es sólo visitar un centro de arte, es visitar un nuevo icono a las orillas del Támesis. Su asombrosa construcción nos permite disfrutar desde lo alto de una vista de 360° de toda la ciudad de Londres, y si bien el clima británico no nos permite disfrutar de ello, en la novena planta siempre podemos divisar toda la City desde el gran ventanal de su restaurante. En definitiva, una visita que en ningún momento nos dejará indiferentes, y nos acercará al arte moderno a la vez que nos hará sentir parte de una gran ciudad, siempre un buen motivo para volver a visitar la capital Británica.

While purists will continue to say that the true cornerstone of art galleries TATE Modern is in Liverpool, no one can deny that the new TATE Modern in London is at the top of the world's best modern art museums. After years of waiting, controversy and expectation, last June the new building of the London gallery opened its doors. This impressive construction by the renowned architects Herzog & Demeuron has managed to perfectly integrate a modern construction with the romanticism of the old Bankside power station. Respecting at all times the line of the main building, the Swiss company decided to bet on the brick as a sign of identity and continuity of the firm TATE Modern. Although its unstructured exterior lines can make us imagine a narrow interior, perceptions deceive us, because within its walls space reaches its maximum expression. With its ten floors of high ceilings they have obtained the extra volume that was required to exhibit the great archive of this centre of art, giving that jump of quality within the list of great rooms of the modern art of the world, a sector that has been lately copied by the American

museums in New York, Chicago or San Francisco. The extension of the new building was opened to the public with a series of exhibitions led by the names of two great women of the twentieth century art: The American Georgia O-Keeffe with her vibrant flowers, in a temporary exhibition that showed us the great colour palette of the artist who has reached the highest prices in art auctions. And on the other hand, the non-conformist Jean Burgerois, known worldwide for her breakthrough spider sculptures, as her work "The Mother" that grandly illuminates the entrance of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. But visiting the new TATE is not just visiting an art centre, it is visiting a new icon on the banks of the Thames. Its amazing construction allows us to enjoy from the top a 360 ° view of the whole city of London, and although the British climate does not allow us to enjoy it, on the ninth floor we can always see the whole City from the large window of its restaurant. In short, a visit that at no time will leave us indifferent, and will bring us closer to modern art while making us feel part of a great city, always a good reason to revisit the British capital.

'Muerte de un miliciano', se convirtió en un icono del fotoperiodismo de guerra y en un clásico de la imaginería de la Guerra Civíl Española. Capta el momento en el que el anarquista Federico Borrell García, alias "El Taino", muere de un balazo, en septiembre del 36. El fotograma siempre estuvo rodeada de polémica, pues para aumentar el precio de sus tarifas, el húngaro Ernö Friedmann y su pareja, Gerta Taro, crearon un personaje ficticio: Robert Capa, un supuesto fotógrafo norteamericano. La base del

'Death of a militiaman', became an icon of war photojournalism and a classic of the imagery of the Spanish Civil War. It captures the moment in which the anarchist Federico Borrell Garcia, alias "El Taino", dies of a bullet, in September 1936. The picture has always been surrounded of controversy, because in order to raise the price of its tariffs, the Hungarian Ernö Friedmann and his partner, Gerta Taro, created a fictional character: Robert Capa, a supposed American photographer. The basis of the debate between experts was that both worked under that pseudonym, so it was never really known who took the picture. In order to make matters worse, the considered greatest photographer alive of the generation Cartier-Bresson, Capa, and Magnum, Ara Güler, maintains that the mythical image was taken by an assistant of the photographer. If we think of Robert Capa, we the

GESTARESCALA, LA ENCRUCIJADA DEL EGO GALACTIC POT-HEALER, THE EGO CROSSROADS

La publicación de "Gestarescala" supone la recuperación de una de las obras de Phillip K. Dick nunca antes publicada antes en España (sí la dio a conocer en castellano una editorial argentina hace 4 décadas). A pesar de ser una de las obras menores, como es habitual en la voluminosa obra del visionario escritor de Ciencia Ficción, toda carencia se suple con esos momentos brillantes que plasman el inquieto pensamiento de K. Dick; integrando situaciones que reflejan las preocupaciones filosóficas que éste sentía en el momento en que la obra fue escrita. Pensamiento –he de añadir- que esta edición se encarga de abordar meticulosamente en un generoso prólogo, haciendo aún más apetecible adentrarse en las páginas del libro. Gestarescala, narra la historia de Fernwright, artesano asfixiado por la distópica sociedad totalitaria en la que vive hasta que, en un momento dado, es solicitado por un personaje de otro planeta que anda reuniendo un equipo con el fin

de emprender una misión en su planeta. Un lugar colonizado por deidades lovecraftianas donde los protagonistas han de sumergirse en océanos uterinos que beben de los arquetipos jungianos. K. Dick elucubra a través de su protagonista sobre el determinismo y la posibilidad de cambiar el destino. De manera más intensa, lo hace en la naturaleza de la individualidad cuando, el protagonista experimente la entrópica atracción hacia la nueva realidad que en su periplo le descubre el nuevo planeta, grupal y reintegradora y que, entronca con el inconsciente colectivo jungiano. Surge el debate a la hora de encauzar la voluntad, cuando, por un lado combaten la emoción y lo inquietante y, por el otro, la comodidad y el sinsentido. Una dicotomía que comunica de manera evocadora con la que sufrían los cosmonautas del planeta Solaris en la homónima novela de Stanislaw Lem y que K. Dick llevaría en “Valis” a sus últimas consecuencias.

The publication of "Galactic Pot-Healer" mens the recovery of one of the works by Phillip K. Dick never before published in Spain (it was published in Spanish by an Argentine publisher 4 decades ago). Despite being one of the minor works, as it is usual in the voluminous work of the visionary writer of Science Fiction, any lack is supplemented with those brilliant moments that reflect the restless thought of K. Dick; integrating situations that reflect the philosophical concerns that he felt at the time the work was written. Thinking - I would add - that this edition approaches meticulously in a generous prologue, making even more appealing to enter the pages of the book. Gestarescala, tells the story of Fernwright, artisan suffocated by the dystopian totalitarian society in which he lives until, at a given moment, he is requested by a character from another planet who is gathering a team in order to undertake a mission on his planet. A place colonized by lovecraftian deities where the protagonists have to submerge in uterine oceans that drink of the Jungian archetypes. K. Dick devises through his protagonist on the determinism and the possibility to change the destiny. More intensely, he does so in the nature of individuality when the protagonist experiences the entropic attraction towards the new reality that he discovers during his journey on the new planet, group and conciliatory and that connects with the unconscious Jungian collective. The debate arises when it comes to channeling the will, when, on the one hand, they fight emotion and disturbance and, on the other hand, comfort and nonsense. A dichotomy that evocatively communicates with that suffered by the cosmonauts of the planet Solaris in the homonymous novel of Stanislaw Lem and that K. Dick would take in "Valis" to its final consequences.

Reservoir Books La novela “El club de la lucha” que dio a conocer al escritor Chuck Palahniuk para, al poco, ser llevada al Cine por el portentoso David Fincher para erigir definitivamente al protagonista Tyler Durden en imperecedero fenómeno de Culto, tuvo, en este 2016, su continuación en formato de Cómic. Con guión del propio escritor, quien confiesa seguir experimentando en el nuevo medio, las críticas por parte de quienes ya han leído el tomo oscilan del amor al odio, sin término medio; lo cual no hace sino elevar todavía más el interés despertado por esta segunda parte.

CÁDIZ, TACITA DE PLATA CÁDIZ, “LA TACITA DE PLATA”

— Cádiz aplaca con belleza física y socarronería elegante las furias del alma.

En la ciudad más antigua de Occidente todavía se escucha cantar en la calle cuando cae el sol, se sale a pescar en barca, el coche no merece la pena, se amurallan siglos galantes, se fingen grandes películas, se maquillan burlas, importa la dirección del viento. Cádiz es diferente y valiosa desde tiempos fenicios. Marítima, cosmopolita, irónica, soleada, ventosa, flamenca. Su pescaíto y sus guitarras son de excepción. Su sentido del deber y de la gracia también sobrevuelan los del resto del planeta. Y hasta los sablazos hoteleros se dan con más estilo. No se puede disfrutar impunemente de una plaza como la de la Catedral, su cúpula dorada, la escalinata flanqueda por el Callejón de los Piratas. Ni de un Café como el Royalty, al que sólo le falta poder fumar habanos en su interior. Además están la Viña, el Mentidero, Santa María, el Pópulo,... y el callejeo fascinante que te regalan hasta que se te acaba la ciudad y ves una playa mil veces cantada: La Caleta, con sus fuertes de San Sebastián y Santa Catalina. A pocos pasos, otras playas alcanzan a olerse desde el Campo del Sur. Y los demás aromas los ponen los tranquilos jardines gaditanos que aún se esconden tras las Puertas de Tierra. Es difícil escoger edificios, plazas o bares, porque el tiempo los ha embellecido a casi todos. La Casa del Almirante, La Cárcel Real, el Gran Teatro Falla, La Plaza de San Juan de Dios, la Plaza de San Antonio, la Casa Lasquetty, San Felipe Neri, el Arco del Pópulo, la Alameda, las hermosas comparsas carnavalescas, los cañones enterrados por la boca en las

esquinas de la Plaza de Mendizábal, la maqueta de la ciudad cuando rebosaba de torres para los armadores. Todo merece ser visto, oído y saboreado, respirando hondo el viento que toque, poniente o levante. Cádiz aplaca con belleza física y socarronería elegante las furias del alma. Lo fue todo cuando el comercio con América marcaba la riqueza, los asedios y los peinados de las mujeres. Lo perdió con las maneras de nuevos siglos menos valerosos. Pero aquí el orgullo y la protesta se cantan y eso evita la polilla. Con veinte años, recordarás muy poco de Cádiz, salvo la sensación de haberlo pasado en grande. Cumplidos los cuarenta, pasearás una de las ciudades más bonitas del mundo y puede que hasta empieces a inventar una narración en ella que le siente bien. Yo acabo de terminar el repaso a una en la que un danés llega a Cádiz, “más perdido que el barco del arroz” y se rinde a su enclave único, al mar batiendo playa, al presentido teatro romano, el embrujo de las tapas, a las calles del centro salpicadas de palacios y señoriales balcones. De lo que le sucede allí no es momento de hablar, pero le acompañará la suerte. A mí, sin ser danés, Cádiz siempre me la ha traído. Porque lo mejor sucede cuando se tienen amigos en ella, a los veinte o a los cuarenta. Para la coña fina o para el relato sosegado y docto. Estuve hace muy poco allí, y estoy deseando volver. El Turrón de yema es uno de los más típicos, y en base a la receta de Pascual, uno de los ocho turroneros del pueblo –su abuelo montó hace 69 años la turronería La peladilla en el Carrer del mismo nombre- vamos a intentar hacerlo nosotros: - Fundir azúcar con agua hasta que hierva a 114 grados (importante para la mezcla esta temperatura del agua que a la hora de mezclarla con la masa producirá el efecto deseado); - Cuando esté lista, se mezclará con la masa, que se hará al mismo tiempo con los dos ingredientes estrella que son la Yema de huevo confitada previamente (200 gr por cada Kg de azúcar) y la Almendra Marcona molida (misma cantidad que la de azúcar) removiendo con brazo pastelero. - Una vez bien mezclados todos los ingredientes se

Hace algún tiempo comenté con una amiga las (escasas) posibilidades que tenía de tropezarme con Ewan McGregor por la calle y que cayese perdidamente enamorado a mis pies. “Te liarás con McGregor cuando el infierno se congele”, me dijo muerta de risa. Pues bien, querida, ve sacando los patines, porque lo de Ewan es cuestión de tiempo ya. A fin de cuentas, el infierno se congeló la madrugada del miércoles 9 de noviembre, cuando Donald Trump se convirtió de la noche a la mañana en el 45º Presidente de los USA. Así que, aunque el calentamiento global no nos deje verlo como es debido, el caso es que el infierno ha debido congelarse ya ¿no? ¿o acaso no decían los sesudos analistas que era materialmente imposible que un tío como Donald Trump, con esa verborrea incontenible -e insoportable, también hay que

decirlo- y ese pelo imposible se convirtiese en Presidente? Igual es que los periodistas y analistas de actualidad debemos empezar a utilizar el lenguaje con más cuidado: imposible, amigos míos, no es ni de lejos sinónimo de improbable. Ejemplos prácticos: imposible es que me salgan alas en los próximo 20 minutos y emprenda el vuelo rampante sobre las plazas de mi ciudad. Improbable es que Ewan McGregor me llame mañana para tomar unas cañas y unas bravas... y lo que surja. Y desde el 9 de noviembre es algo menos improbable, teniendo en cuenta, como digo, que el infierno se ha congelado. No es momento -lo fue hace un mes, si acasoni lugar -lo es el NY Times, si acaso- para emprender profundos análisis sobre el porqué de un resultado absolutamente desquiciado y desquiciante que ha

encumbrado a un hombre histriónico hasta el extremo hasta el Despacho Oval. No seré yo quien diga que una mujer como oponente en un mundo machista ha ayudado. Ni quien diga que esa mujer en concreto era, de por sí, una elección que hacía flaquear las fuerzas de sus propios votantes. No seré yo quien hable del descontento generalizado de la población mundial con la política general y los políticos en particular, ni de una crisis mal gestionada, ni de un egoísmo galopante que arrasa occidente como un jinete apocalíptico. No seré yo... pero podría serlo. Pero no seré yo porque, gracias a Donald Trump y su capacidad para congelar el infierno, estoy ocupada ordenando mi casa para tenerlo todo listo cuando Ewan llame al timbre. Porque pasará. Claramente. Puede que sea improbable... pero claramente, ya nada es imposible.

La magia de la Navidad ha llegado a Marineda City para quedarse. El punto de partida lo marcó el ilusionista Jorge Blass, que fue el encargado de inaugurar estas fechas tan entrañables en una ceremonia plagada de emoción, trucos y sorpresas. Sin embargo, Marineda City quiere más y por eso ha creado una campaña muy especial, con una reinterpretación de la icónica foto “Lunch atop a skyscrapper” (1932) que, con un espectacular “truco de ilusionismo”, ha logrado convertirse en un homenaje a la ciudad, a la fotografía y a la Navidad, cambiando Nueva York por la ensenada de Riazor con diferentes escenas navideñas. En esta línea de generar ilusión y contagiar la magia de la Navidad a niños y mayores, Marineda City ha preparado, además, un completo programa de actividades. Por una parte, como ya es tradicional, la pista de hielo está abierta en la plaza exterior hasta el 15 de enero. Amantes del patinaje y todos aquellos que deseen pasar un buen rato, pueden animarse a disfrutar de su espacio todos los días de la semana, incluidos domingos y festivos. Y también en la plaza exterior, como novedad este año, Marineda City contará hasta el 5 de enero con un mercado navideño tradicional, en el que encontrar productos de artesanía y alimentación. Como los auténticos protagonistas de la
