INFLUENCING UP
Influential leadership is the key attribute that separates individuals who can manage a team versus those who can influence without authority. Influencing subordinates or providing direction is a practice that has been targeted as critical soft skill development for a few decades now. The gap in many of these developmental programs is targeting our ability to influence those we do not have authority over, as well as influencing those up the chain of command. In this seminar, we will dive into the four domains of effective influential leadership provided by the US Army Rangers. We will develop individual leadership profiles while working through the four domains, identifying which areas individuals are more robust in while identifying which areas could use some development.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN SELLING AND DOING
In communication there is an old adage…”just because you said it, doesn’t mean they heard it, believe it, or will do it.” Effective communication is one of the most important yet least understood tools in the sales world. Often, we believe if we say it, others hear it, understand it and will act on what we’ve communicated to them. However, studies have shown the opposite - communication is far less linear than we imagine and often our communication strategies fall short. In this interactive seminar, Jordan Montgomery will detail three specific strategies used by top leaders and sales professionals across industries to help them improve their communication with employees, clients and prospects…it is all about THEM, clarity matters, and remind more than you instruct.

MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE! ENHANCED PLANNING AND DOCUMENTING STRATEGIES
Every contractor knows the value of planning for efficiency. Now let’s talk about how to plan even better. Documenting decisions in the correct order influences design and drives efficiency in developing work packages. An existing industry standard format organizes this process, and provides a checklist to guide the contractor, designer, and owner to evaluate options and to make informed decisions consistent with the owner’s objectives. Develop reliable documentation, at an acceptable level of development, to support early contracting packages. Build a roadmap that allows a transparent discussion among all participants that assesses potential risk scenarios and facilitates project cost certainty. When the design decision order is coordinated with construction order, success in project flow will be inevitable.

Keynote
See Something, Say Something!
By recounting her incredible story of triumph over tragedy and exploring the factors that led to her own traumatic workplace injury, Candace ignites a desire in her audience to answer this call – ‘See Something, Say Something’. It takes ‘Courage to Care!’ and speaking up isn’t easy. Peer pressure is a reality in our workplaces and can cause us to remain silent when our voices need to be heard. Candace will encourage attendees to tap in to their “Courage to Care,” and to act on it, with the realization that each day, we all have the capacity to change a life – or maybe even save one.
With wisdom and wit, Candace Carnahan presents a new way to think about safety. Through the power of stories, she demonstrates how to use your voice - to see safety as an opportunity, not just an obligation.
Having experienced a traumatic injury at the age of 21, Candace knows too well the impact it has not only on the worker, but also on everyone around them.
For 20 years Candace has been taking the stage sharing stories to companies of all sizes – and already more than half a million people have been moved by her personal experience of injury, resilience, and strength. The way she weaves safety seamlessly into storytelling that is relatable and memorable is what resonates and provokes real change in attitude and action.
