Croeso i Wyl Ryngwladol Ffilm a Cherddoriaeth Soundtrack 2011. Dyma’r trydydd tro i ni ddathlu’r berthynas rhwng cerddoriaeth a delweddau symudol. Mae’r wyl yn ehangu eleni, gyda rhan ohoni’n cael ei chynnal yng Nghasnewydd diolch i bartneriaeth newydd gyda chyngor y ddinas ac Ysgol Ffilm Casnewydd. ^
Soundtrack 2001 yw’r orau hyd yn hyn, diolch i gymorth ariannol hael Asiantaeth Ffilm Cymru, Uned Digwyddiadau Mawr Llywodraeth y Cynulliad a chymorth parhaus Cineworld a Chanolfan Gelfyddydol Chapter. Mae mwy o ragolygon nag erioed o’r blaen; y bendigedig “Shame” gan Steve McQueen sy’n agor y cyfan a début Ralph Finnes fel cyfarwyddwr, “Coriolanus”, sy’n cloi. Yma hefyd fydd Guillemots, sydd wedi cael eu henwebu am wobr Mercury, dathliad “A Clockwork Orange” Stanley Kubrick yn bedwar deg oed, sioe anhygoel boblogaidd y digrifwr Adam Buxton “Bug: The Evolution of Music Video” a’r chwedlonol Don Letts yn trin a thrafod ei waith a’i fywyd. Yn plethu’r drwy’r cyfan fydd yr elfen nodwedd gerddorol gyda chydweithrediad medrus a deheuig Spillers Records. Cyn cloi, fy argymhelliad personol; “Bellflower” gan Evan Glodell, sy’n enghraifft fendigedig o ffilm fodern annibynnol gwrol ac eofn.

19th November 2011 chapter arts centre Soundtrack and Chapter Arts Centre will be hosting a special celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘A Clockwork Orange’, the film that sparked considerable controversy in the UK, US and around the world. The event will feature an exclusive exhibition of documents from the Stanley Kubrick Archive, a screening of A Clockwork Orange and a discussion panel with guests from the BBFC and The Stanley Kubrick Archive.
17:00 to 20:00Exhibition:
‘A Clockwork Orange Release – Unfolding the “X” Papers’ Curated by João Serejo and Núria Campreciós, the evening will commence with the exhibition ‘A Clockwork Orange Release – Unfolding the “X” Papers’, which will display displaying a number of documents from Kubrick’s archive, including research and promotional materials, press articles and other official files from the time of the film’s release.
This exhibition will enable a space for discussion of A Clockwork Orange and the endless debates about violence, sex exploitation and censorship that have always surrounded the movie.
20:00 to 22:30Screening
Director: Stanley Kubrick, 1971
In a futuristic Britain, Alex leads his gang on nightly rampages of ‘ultraviolence’. But his luck ends when his droogs rise up against him, leaving him in the hands of the authorities. Imprisoned for murder, Alex agrees to become a guinea pig in experimental government therapy sessions, which will shorten his sentence by turning him into a ‘proper’ citizen. Comprising a soundtrack of classical music from the quills of Elgar and Beethoven, woven in amongst the groundbreaking electronic score of composer Walter Carlos (now Wendy Carlos), the soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange was a huge influence on the bands of the Synthpop movement, featuring the first use of a vocoder to manipulate the singing voice.
22:30 to 23:15Discussion Panel and Q&A Stanley Kubrick was one of the great filmmakers of our time, and his profound influence on motion pictures continues to this day. His 1971 film, ‘A Clockwork Orange’, introduced into popular culture the concept of “ultra-violence” and how a “bowler-hatted” hooligan Alex (McDowell) had a “good time” – at the tragic expense of others. His journey from amoral punk to brainwashed good citizen and back again forms the dynamic arc of Kubrick’s future-shock vision of Anthony Burgess’ novel. This was a powerful film made by a director at the height of his artistry and its impact generated worldwide controversy. How did Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess cope with society’s accusations of obscenity and immorality and fight against the press pressure to ban the film? What was the position of the British Board of Film Censors at that time? Richard Daniels, archivist at the Stanley Kubrick Archive (University of the Arts London) will chair and moderate the panel, featuring guests Craig Lapper from the British Board of Film Classification and Peter Kramer, senior lecturer at the University of East Anglia, who will discuss these issues and other controversial aspects of this critical period of Film History, followed by an open Q&A.
