VERYNICE students, with its variations freetime, university and daylife, is an annual guide created by the students of the lagoon to the inexperienced freshmen just landed. Getting lost in this maze of streets is not easy and we know it well: this handbook is to help you learn about Venice and its habits, but the city is full of things to discover, do not stop here!

Non solo silenzioso luogo di studio ma anche di incontro, le biblioteche disposte per la laguna sono numerose e diverse fra loro: da quelle in splendidi palazzi storici, alle più moderne ed attrezzate. Vengono ampiamente frequentate dal lunedì al venerdì, mentre per quelle aperte anche nel week-end la frequenza scende al 20%, ma questo non vale nei periodi degli esami. A gennaio e giugno non stupirti di trovare gente in coda aspettando l’orario di apertura: in piena sessione esami arrivare tardi significa non trovare neppure una sedia libera. Grazie agli orari prolungati spesso fino a mezzanotte le biblioteche vengono sfruttate anche la sera.

L’edificio, realizzato dalla nobile famiglia dei Foscarini appartiene a un gruppo di palazzi edificati intorno alla metà del Cinquecento, al suo interno le stanze sono luminose e piene di affreschi. Oggi, parte del palazzo, è la sede della biblioteca di Studi sull’Asia Orientale, oltre ad avere delle ottime aule studio, presenta una collezione di testi Orientali tra le più importanti d’Italia.

La Biblioteca di Area Scientifica dispone di una sede in laguna, adiacente alla sede universitaria, e di un’altra nella zona di Mestre, Via Torino 155.

Si occupa dei dipartimenti di chimica, fisica, scienze ambientali, scienze dei materiali, nanotecnologie, mentre il polo mestrino è specializzato in scienza dell’informazione, informatica e sistemi multimediali. Vi è una convenzione di collaborazione scientifica tra questa sede e il parco scientifico e tecnologico Vega.

The Library of Science has an office in the lagoon, adjacent to the university campus, and another in the area of Mestre, Via Torino 155. It deals with the departments of chemistry, physics, environmental science, materials science, nanotechnology, while the center of Mestre is specialized in information science, computer science and multimedia systems. There is a scientific cooperation agreement between this office and the science and technology park Vega.

La Biblioteca di Area Umanistica nasce nel 2006 e si occupa delle discipline di arti, filosofia, psicologia, storia, letteratura, filologia, archeologia, studi classici, scienze sociali e della formazione.

Le raccolte sono dislocate su quattro piani: le due sale di lettura ospitano il materiale di consultazione, al primo piano interrato si trova il materiale a scaffale aperto, mentre al secondo interrato i 1200 titoli di riviste.

The Library of Humanities was founded in 2006 and deals with the disciplines of the arts, philosophy, psychology, history, literature, philology, archeology, classical studies, social sciences and education. Collections are located on four floors: the two reading rooms housing the reference material, the first underground floor material is located on open shelves, while the second basement of 1200 journal titles.

La Biblioteca di Area Economica, aperta nel 2005, è fra le più nuove e belle biblioteche.

Rimane nascosta nella poco conosciuta zona di San Giobbe e di conseguenza è frequentata prevalentemente da studenti di economia provenienti dall’adiacente sede universitaria. Al suo interno puoi prenotare per intere settimane vere e proprie cabine-studio dove poter lasciare i tuoi libri. Ottima per universitari in tesi!

The Library of Economics, opened in 2005, is among the newest and most beautiful libraries. Remains hidden in the little known area of St. Job, and as a result is mainly frequented by business students from the adjacent university. Q U E R I N I S TA M PA L I A La biblioteca è all’interno della Fondazione Querini Stampalia nata nel 1869 che ospita, oltre alla Biblioteca, il Museo della dimora patrizia del Settecento, un’area per esposizioni temporanee, bookshop, giardino e bar. Per accedervi è necessaria la relativa tessera che si può ottenere all’ingresso. La biblioteca è di carattere generale e mette a disposizione oltre 350.000 volumi tra opere antiche e libri moderni.

The library is within the Fondazione Querini Stampalia born in 1869 which, in addition to the Library, the Museum of patrician residence of the eighteenth century, an area for temporary exhibitions, a bookshop and bar. TOLENTINI Non è certo perché gli studenti IUAV hanno poco da studiare che dispongono di un’unica biblioteca! È inserita, insieme ad alte strutture della facoltà, in un ex convento del 1602 dove ora è possibile consultare una delle più vaste raccolte di libri, riviste, tesi di architettura, design e pianificazione. Al suo interno inoltre ci sono la videoteca, una postazione still life per fotografare i manuali antichi e uno splendido chiosco dove poter fare pausa dallo studio bere un caffè o semplicemente il sole (quando c’è!)

Z A T T E R E Bella biblioteca fresca di ristrutturazione che può sembrare un locale modaiolo. All’ingresso si può trovare un’area comune munita di computer e divani, ottimi per scaricare lo stress da studio (o addirittura schiacciare un veloce riposino). Tra le diverse aree dedicate allo studio la migliore è la Tesa B, la più distante dall’ingresso. Non perdere gli appuntamenti culturali: presentazione di libri, convegni, rassegne cinematografiche.

ocio Non ci sono macchinette per gli snack, ma un fornitissimo bar che chiude alle 18. Se hai intenzione di studiare tutta la sera ricorda di portarti il thermos di caffè.

Le mense universitarie sono una buona alternativa all’ennesimo panino mangiato nel bar vicino all’università o se ancora non hai imparato a cucinarti niente di meglio che un uovo in padella. Vengono frequentate da uno studente su quattro, quasi esclusivamente dal lunedì al venerdì per il pranzo e principalmente da chi si avvantaggia di sconti sulle tariffe grazie a borse di studio, ma per il primo anno di iscrizione il prezzo rimane sempre inferiore a € 5 per tutti.

Il menù è piuttosto variabile e offre ogni giorno diverse alternative, dall’insalatina per chi si vuole tenere leggero, alla pizza più ghiotta.

Il locale si presenta come un insolito spazio di ristorazione dato che viene condiviso anche con dei lavoratori della zona. Oltre al self-service, per comporre il proprio pasto a piacimento, è disponibile anche un funzionale servizio bar e un comodo take away.

This canteen was opened this year to provide a further and more satisfactory service catering to students. The place looks like an unusual dining space since it is also shared with the workers in the area.
