HOW TO BOOST your energy naturally…

It’s pretty easy to feel low in energy during the cooler months here on the Sunshine Coast. A regular early morning ocean swim to boost our energy can easily fall off our health and wellness routine when the mornings get chilly. At Goodlife, we love being able to offer health and fitness advice that empowers our community of members to feel good for life. Physical exercise helps all of us continue to do the things we love, like having that little bit of extra energy to spend quality time with our family and friends. Or to simply help us build muscle tone, maintain bone density and increase energy so we can feel confident doing the daily activities we enjoy. But when it gets cold and our exercise routine gets swapped out for that extra hour in bed, here are a few simple things you can do to boost energy instead: • Limit your sugar intake. When we feel low in energy, our bodies often crave sugar for a quick ‘pick me up’. The problem is, this creates a very quick spike in our blood sugar levels (gives a big hit of energy) but then just as quickly, that energy dissipates and the cycle continues. Instead of sugary snacks, keep healthy, wholefood snacks nearby for when you need an energy boost. This will keep you energised for longer, without the health impacts that are associated with sugar. • Restorative exercise.
One of the things our members at Goodlife love about us is that we offer more than 60 types of classes. This makes it really easy to mix up your workout routine to match the season and your energy level. In winter, you might like to opt for a Yoga class to focus on restorative movement. If Yoga isn’t quite your thing, swapping out high intensity workouts for something a little more light-hearted like Zumba is a great way to improve mental wellness.
• Move your body daily. Staying consistent with daily movement is a necessity when it comes to maintaining your energy. If you need a little motivation, or someone to keep you accountable, then a Personal Trainer is a great idea. Working with a fully qualified Personal Trainer at Goodlife means you’ll get tailored advice and workout plans to help you maintain and improve your fitness and avoid injury when working out. • Get enough sleep. This one sounds like a nobrainer, but if you’re not getting between seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night, then your body isn’t getting a chance to rest and repair. If you know you aren’t getting enough sleep, you’ve probably noticed the symptoms of sleep deficit already. Things like changes in mood and appetite or a general decrease in energy are clear signs of needing to get more sleep. The key to maintaining energy naturally really lies in having the right fitness community around you. At Goodlife, you’ll find a team of supportive and friendly fitness professionals to help you stay motivated, on track and most importantly, feeling good for life.
