Question Four How I used different media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages.
Pre Production During the research stage I used a variety of different mediums to aide me in my understating of the music genre. Emaze - Emaze being one of the most favourable online software's, I had a tendency to use this when creating presentations as I found it to be more reliable than other sources such as Prezi – used In year twelve – There were a few errors when using this site as I found my fonts and layouts to be tampered with somewhat are converting my files. However, I found Emaze to be one of the most consistent mediums as it could handle heavy work loads in without crashing. One main issue however, is the limitation of how many presentations you can hold without having to purchase additional slots; this lead to me having to delete previous work load of even creating various accounts in order to keep using the desired site. Issu – Yet another favoured of mine, I found this to be my substitute for Prezzi after experience with it in year twelve. This site provides excellent service and is quite easily on par with Emaze. I wasn’t to fond of the books themselves once created however, with the ability to convert my own files thus saving me the hassle of using the site consistently, I felt that this was a far better option than any other competitors I had previously used. PowerPoint – As mentioned, I would often convert files however, to do this I would need to have had a ready made presentation. PowerPoint was imperative for producing draft copies of my presentation. It allowed me to take full control of the composition and wasn’t reliant on WIFI so there were no server issues e.g. waiting times. Its customisation meant I could decorate my presentations appropriately thus gaining the attention of my audience without having to switch between multiple sites.
Pre Production – Part Two Tumblr – This was the main source of my research as it was the key to communicating with my target audience. It allowed to me approach the consumers directly thus allowing me to ask for the input which was needed. It also meant I could share ideas with classmates which lead to further feedback thus resulting in an ongoing developing. Pictures could be uploaded and source martial could also be shared with follower. I was familiar with the site itself as I had used it prior to entering year thirteen, this meant I was already familiar with the layout and how I could make my envision come to life. SurveyMonkey - This software was an a efficient way at receiving audience feedback. This made later stages of the product easier as I could reference my results. It also was a great way to get first hand answers that where direct thus allowing me avoid any negativity that might have driven consumers away from our product.

Post Production When creating our product we used a range of physical hardware that allowed us to film. For instance, a 100D cannon was used to film the footage, for memory we used a 64GB SD card thus eliminating future storage issues. We also used 10omm Cannon Macro lens which allowed us to shoot freehand due to the image stabilisation. For our longer shots we used a Cannon 25mm wide angle lens which allowed us to feel the scene with both characters whilst they carried out different interactions. Though technically not a hardware, we did use a tripod as well as a track to film more technical shots. For editing our group decided to use final cut pro, this format allowed us the add any further stabilisation to further enhance the smoothness of the footage. This software also allowed us to alter the colouration of the footage and fix any issues such camera shake and exposure issues. However, the vast majority of the time was spent editing our footage trimming down any unnecessary scenes as well as creating smooth transitions that enable the footage to flow smoothly between ACTS. Photoshop was vaguely used during this section as we placed earlier footage into the site to freeze each individual frames. These frames where then converted into images allowing us to create production imagery which was later used on our Blog as a sneak peak.
Post Production – Part Two After using the artist Tyler the creator as refence e aimed to create the ‘edgy’ appearance seen within his footage. Final Cut allowed freedom in the way that we could alter the visual appearance of our footage. Initially, we intended to shoot in colour, however, after catching a subtle light within one of our scenes we were fascinated by the use of desaturated tones mixed with colour isolation. Final cut pro allowed us to mimic this light by tampering with the different effects. After layering applications of different tones and special effects, we were finally able to create a result in which we were happy with.
Post Production • After creating various rough cuts we had decided to share these amongst our fellow classmates by using the schools SharePoint to upload our footage. This kept the work amongst our school so that we could receive further feedback from either teachers of students. Furthermore, this advice lead t some small cuts as some scenes seemed unfitting due to the nature of our stylised footage. • To make our draft footage public we used a software known as viemo which allowed us to upload our footage so that it was accessible after being posted on our blog. The film itself could not be uploaded to Tumblr due to the file size however we found this to be a fitting alternative. • Once completed the film was uploaded to YouTube to be shared with the world. We found this to be the best choice as the site itself has active users that are aged between 16-18 which evidentially is our target audience. It also meant that older viewers could view the footage and that it could be easily shared amongst friends. However, due to the nature of the song, it also meant that it was blocked to younger audiences which meant that children before the recommended age were not be inflicted by the use of profanity.

When designing our Digi Pack as well as our tour poster we had decided to use Adobe Photoshop. I was familiar with this site due to my experience with in within my other A levels meaning I had an understanding of the benefits that it could provide. This medium was an excellent way to produce something that was appealing to both us the producers and the audience.

We had began by making some small pieces of concept art as our survey results showed that people preferred the idea of using illustrations over photographs. So after receiving some positive feedback we began to create a variety of these images which we later merged with a Digi pack template. This site also meant I could replicate most CD packages as I could layer different images on top of one another thus creating a finalised version with all of the requirements e.g. logos and product barcodes.
We also learnt that our consumers much prefer a desaturated image so by adding a series of adjustment layers we had successfully created a black and white Digi Pack. This site also allowed us to save out images that we had created so that we could re-open them in their original form to further develop them. We also had quite the experience experimenting with different brush presents and blending modes as we begin to design our playing card yet again influenced by the art style of Tyler the creator. We then later applied this image onto our tour poster.
