The Juniors of Hill Street Presbyterian Church Lurgan recently welcomed two different CE Presidents to their meeting.

On Monday 6th February the Irish President, Mr. Alan Blair visited. As Alan is a member of Hill Street congregation he is well known to the children who were delighted to have him join with them in their meeting. Alan joined the Juniors in choruses and chain prayer as well as Bible reading and repeating the consecration promises before bringing greetings from the Irish Union and speaking to the children about the 4 standards of CE. He encouraged them to put these 4 standards into practice and also to keep following Christ and serving Him through CE. The Juniors then enjoyed trying on the Presidential chain and having their photo taken with Alan.

Our second Presidential visit took place on Monday 20th February when the President of our Local Union of Armagh and South Tyrone, Rev Ivor Smith, joined us for our meeting.

Ivor joined with the Juniors in the various items on the programme including the memory verse and then spoke to the children about the different things we use to keep ourselves and our homes clean e.g. soap (for our bodies), toothpaste (for our teeth), washing up liquid (for the dishes), Flash (for cleaning the floors). He reminded us that while these things can clean us and our surroundings on the outside they cannot clean us on the inside. Only God can cleanse our hearts from sin and make us pure in His sight. Once again the Juniors were able to admire another Presidential chain and the visit was recorded on camera as we all posed for photos with Ivor.

We wish our two Presidents every blessing in their year of office and assure them of our prayers as they fulfill their duties and visit many CE Societies throughout the country.

IRISH UNION PRESIDENT VISITS HILL STREET SENIORS

On Monday 6th February 2017, in Hill Street Presbyterian Senior Society in Lurgan, we had a visit by the Irish President, Mr. Alan Blair. There was a goodly number in attendance and we were particularly pleased to have him in our meeting especially as he is currently a member of our congregation. He has been involved with Christian Endeavour in our Church for a good number of years.

Our meeting was our usual monthly consecration meeting and the President took an active part in all aspects of it. He brought to us greetings from the Irish Union and encouraged us in our work for the years ahead. His message to us centred around Hebrews chapter 10 encouraging us to raise the standard and to hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm which centres around our consecration promise. Later we had the opportunity to examine the Presidential chain of office and noted a host of memorable names.

LOCAL UNION PRESIDENT BRINGS ENCOURAGEMENT

Hill Street, Lurgan, Presbyterian Seniors had a visit from Rev Ivor Smith current President of the Armagh and South Tyrone Union. Ivor is well known and loved by our Society and we were delighted that he was able to slot us into his itinerary. He brought us the good wishes of the Armagh and South Tyrone Union and gave us great encouragement to maintain our enthusiasm for Christian Endeavour.
