Matt Tucker OUGD303 — Brief 8. End of Year Show Pitch
Brief —
Create a concept to promote the Leeds College of Art end of year shows. The concept must be original and communicate all the different areas of the university as well as its heritage.
Fruits of one’s labour— ‘The results of one’s work’

Concept —
The Leeds College of Art end of year shows never fail to disappoint, with students working hard to reach their maximum potential. The anticipation, hard work and build up to the exhibition play a large role in its success. The fruit is the exhibition in the final payout for the creative labour that each student has put in. The concept plays on visuals based around fruits and labour. There are endless combinations between the two. A photo-shoot could be undertaken to give the identity of the concept a more professional aesthetic. The following pages are just a few representations of possible routes. They can be easily changed and developed depending on the needs of the marketing department.
Print Specs —
The cover would be on a coloured stock with de-bossing & foiling. Alternative options could be explored after working out a budget with the printers. Inside would be CMYK full colour with the use of one spot colour to highlight key bits of information and allow consistency across both screen and print. Pantone 625 Uncoated. Apercu Mono for UPPER CASE HEADERS / SECTIONS Apercu Light for Body Copy Both typefaces work in sync with one another because they use the same X heights. Apercu offers a variety of weights allowing a visual hierarchy of text to be created. Apercu Mono offers another option for working with headers, captions and quotes.

Poster / Flyer Designs —
Option 1 — The posters use the signs used on fruit stands etc to contain the main pieces of information. This is something we would want to shoot in person and develop a more literal version of the concept. The receipt private view invitation saves on paper allowing 3 to be made from 6 to be made from 1 A4 meaning a higer GSM of stock can be used. Option 2 — Another route would be to use an old receipt aesthetic, a more subtle play on the idea of visuals based around fruits / market stools etc. The receipt concept applies to both designs. The map would be printed in the same style using a receipt aesthetic on the back of the fold out poster.
Type Specs —
The body copy uses 8pt text, making the average words per line between 8-12. Optimum wording makes reading the body copy a less strenuous task making the information more accessible. Particularly important for pages such as entry requirements where a lot of text will be on the spreads.

Option 3 —
Photo-shoot — Using a wheelbarrow as a reference to the labour aspect and filling it with fruit. Using signs referencing those used in markets and fruit stools. Use a similar idea for the private show invites. The cement mixer would be filled with fruit or contain another refrence to the concept for the name of the show.
