his time of year, we embrace the summer season, which is synonymous with colours and a new beginning with the unveiling of the New Ground Floor at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj. Welcoming a host of new brands for our patrons, fashion enthusiasts will be treated to an eclectic mix of haute couture and contemporary fashion. This floor hosts exclusive outlets targeting new-age women. Endeavours are made to bring in the latest trends in the world of fashion, beauty, entertainment and F&B. We are also gearing up for one of our most extensive events of the year, the annual Summer Camp to be held in the month of May at both the malls. With more than 20 activities designed exclusively for kids, this is a time for the kids and their parents to enjoy a plethora of workshops and activities of diverse interests.

apanese donburi, Vietnamese pho and Korean bibimbap are now commonly seen on menus across Pan Asian restaurants in India. Gone are the days when a Chinese manchow soup or a mixed chow mein were all that we were acquainted with. While our dalliance with the famous Japanese sushi goes way back, we are only now starting to savour other Southeast Asian delicacies that until recently were not easily available in India.

But, as we travel across borders, we are willing to experiment with food.

We have undoubtedly climbed up the gastronomical ladder in the past decade or so, as we travel across the globe, especially to Southeast Asia. People are also keen to have the same dishes that they have savoured abroad, here.

For meat-lovers, there is nem nuong cuon, or grilled meat spring rolls wrapped in rice paper with lettuce, cucumber, carrot and mint, served with a delicious dip.

One of the most famous dishes of this cuisine is pho. This noodle soup, made with fat rice noodles, sliced meat, shrimp sausage and a broth full of fiery chillies, is popular with the Indian foodie.

The fact that most Southeast Asian cuisines make use of steaming, stir-frying and pansearing cooking methods, it is positively being preferred over heavier European cuisines. With oodles of vegetables, light cooking methods and familiar ingredients, Southeast Asian cuisines are certainly the talk of the town.

Vietnamese cuisine is known for its freshness.

It is influenced by French, Chinese and Japanese cuisines along with the local, indigenous food culture.

walior boy Kartik Aaryan has charmed his way into Bollywood with his boynext-door avatars in films.

He is flying high with the success of his latest release, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. The light-hearted film, which explores the battle between bromance and romance, has been raking it in at the box office. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety managed to beat Akshay Kumar’s PadMan, collecting Rs 82.10 crore

“I cannot express how happy I am!

Whatever is happening with my career right now is huge, be it the reviews, the critical acclaim or box office numbers.

I have seen people clapping in theatres during my scenes, which is a big thing for an actor,” says an elated Kartik.

time a new duo is paired on screen, media goes crazy with alleged rumours and so was the case with Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha.

The duo share sizzling on-screen chemistry and have worked together in four films already, latest being Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety . However, putting a halt to the rumour mill, Kartik quips, “She (Nushrat) is an amazing co-star, but there is no romance brewing between us! If you share good chemistry with your co-star, it enhances your performance. Off the screen she is a very good friend and that’s how we will remain. Since we have worked together on many projects, we share a very friendly relationship.” Talking about the girl of his dream, Kartik shares, “I seek someone who is simple and sweet, someone who is focused on her career and is ambitious.

In the future, I want to be in a relationship where both of us respect each other and our individual professional choices.”

Fun s fact Kartik holds a BTech degree in Biotechnology.

Kartik Aaryan’s favorite movie is the Shahrukh Khan starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

He is addicted to playstation. He used to bunk his classes to play games.

Kartik belongs to a completely non-filmy background. His parents are doctors by profession.

The cuteness of this actors is no less than the mouth-melting sumptuous chocolates. Therefore, he has rightfully earned the tag of being the newest chocolate boy in Bollywood. Confessing his love for female attention, he adds, “On one hand, I yearn for attention sometimes, and on the other; as soon as I get it, I get shy and red and giggly. ‘Dil mein bahut khushi hoti hai’, but I try to not express it or let it show on my face”.

Kartik was bitten by the film bug in his early school days. “I come from a middle class family and my parents wanted to see me become an engineer or a doctor. They agreed to send me to Mumbai only when I managed to convince them that I was going to pursue a BTech degree there. But in reality, I never actually attended much classes, since I was busy auditioning for roles in films. As an aspiring actor, I knew what I was signing up

for. From travelling in local trains to getting rejected almost every day, I have seen it all in the ‘city of dreams’. But one thing I have learnt during the course of my journey is that, although getting an entry into the film world is difficult, but with hard work backed with talent, you can achieve great heights.”

The Guest Iin London actor adds, “I have received a lot of love from the industry. After the success of Pyaar Ka Punchnama, people started acknowledging my talent. But initially I have had my share of the Bollywood struggle to get a breakthrough in the industry.”

Kartik has been making fitness freaks go gaga over his newly chiselled physique. This new joinee to the league of fitness-freak stars, flaunted his perfect abs in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. “I am a foodie and a vegetarian, so bulking up to

look camera ready was a humongous task for me and my trainer! Since I follow a vegetarian lifestyle, it was a challenge to gain the required muscle-mass. But with relentless hard-work and motivation, I was able to get the desired outcome,“ informed the man with washboard abs and a six-pack. A little known fact about Kartik is that he is a huge fan of mixed martial arts and kickboxing. However, he had to give up his action antics due to a severe shoulder injury.

Despite being an outsider, Kartik has now established his credentials as an actor and offers seem to be pouring in for the 27-year-old actor.

Rumours are rife that Kartik will share screen space with Sanjay Dutt in the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Jigarthanda. “There will be few announcements soon, but as of now I am only enjoying the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,” concludes the contented Kartik.

Soak in the

vintage vibes It was a sight to behold during the recently held 21 Gun Salute Vintage Car Rally at Ambience Island, Gurugram. Displayed at the Ambience Greens, Golf Course, Ambience Island were some interesting vintage cars and a few last surviving editions, such as the legendary 1939 Delage D-8 from the USA and the 1965 Silver Cloud from the UK. Thousands of enthusiasts headed to the 21 Gun Salute Vintage Car Rally to see magnificent cars. They also had the opportunity to see and meet their automotive heroes. Also, on display were the 1930 Phantom II, the 1938 Phantom III and the 1965 Silver Cloud III. On the sidelines, 21 Gun Salute Rally also raised funds and distributing gifts to spastic children.
