‘Beauty should

be effortless’

She is unconventional yet striking, an actor who is known for her consistency and mass appeal. Jacqueline Fernandes talks about her career and her passion for fitness... By Aarti Kapur Singh

4 ambience mall

S

he may not be on top of the Bollywood game, but it is hard to find someone as consistent and persistent as Jacqueline Fernandes. She has five releases this year including two international films and she has always had one release every year. With Kick, the Salman Khan-starrer, she even went beyond being just a showpiece. It is hard to believe that this Sri Lankan beauty was plagued by acne in her teen years. Born to a Malaysian mother and a Sri Lankan father, Jackie has inherited the best of both worlds. A fan of beauty as it is, Jacqueline says, “Beauty should be effortless. Real beauty to me is natural. You can’t get more beautiful than a natural, clean-looking face. And no matter how amazing your makeup is or how much plastic surgery you’ve got done, there is nothing more beautiful than a sun-kissed face.” She walks the talk too, as mostly she takes care of her looks by nurturing it from within. “My commitment to caring for my looks is a combination of a healthy diet and a skincare and fitness routine. The must-haves in my food basket are super foods, nuts, nut milks, quinoa, salads, green vegetables and fruits. I grew up in Bahrain where it was always scorching hot so I used to drink a lot of coconut water to keep myself hydrated and it worked wonders for my skin as well. I now swear

by it and add it to my juices and smoothies. I also keep my skin hydrated by sprinkling on rose, mineral or aloe vera water. I never ever forget my daily skincare ritual, whether I’m tired or shooting. It’s specially important when you have so much makeup on your face every day,” reveals Jacqueline. Having said that, Jackie swears allegiance to a couple of skincare products to keep her most bitter enemy - acne at bay. She praises and recommends The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil. And, also its Drops Of Youth Serum, for smooth and fresh skin. “I love the Vanilla Body Mist, Brazil Nut Body Butter, Tea Tree Oil, Coconut Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer and Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil by The Body Shop. These are the things you will find in my handbag - if I ever carry one! I have been using Dermalogica products for many years now and they really work for me. What I like about them is that all the products are unscented and medicated; and they have been specifically for skincare. I start my day with the cleansing gel and at the end of the day, I clean off all the makeup with a pre-cleanser, then a cleanser, toner and finally a moisturiser. I have just started using the Estée Lauder Night serum which is really helpful in skin hydration. It is important to use sunscreen and you should definitely apply a moisturiser before applying

Jacqueline has big plans of delving into fitness as an alternate career too. Her instagram and twitter feed is full of fitness tips and diet plans Jul-Sep 2015 5

makeup, so that the skin is shielded from the layers of makeup being applied on it. It is also easier to clean it off when you apply a moisturiser. So my beauty products are not as many makeup products as they are about specific skin functions, “ she adds. Jacqueline is quite a fitness enthusiast too and her philosophy towards being fit simply boils down to living healthy. “Earlier, fitness was only about losing weight but now I’m more about pursuing a holistic approach and overall wellbeing. I alternate my fitness routine with yoga; I practise hatha, ashtanga or Iyengar yoga with cardio and strength training. I practice yoga for an hour every day. I also do some form of cardio which helps me break out into a sweat and gets my adrenalin pumping. Right now, I’m training in martial arts but otherwise I like to dabble in different activities so that it doesn’t feel like exercise such as dance,” she says. Jacqueline also emphasises the role of eating right and debunks dieting by saying, “I enjoy eating, so I don’t really have a specific diet except that I watch my fried food and sugar intake. I eat three wellbalanced meals a day and I do eat rice with my meals as it supplements it. I try to stick to a vegetarian diet most of the time but I like eating fish. I just keep it as simple as possible and listen to my body. When you’re not hungry, simply don’t eat.” Her screen presence has helped her win several compliments. The health mantra that she follows is to stay happy and healthy from within. Fitness for her is to indulge in different activities and not go for a mundane routine. She plans to take her love for ftness to a different level by influencing people to tread on a path of wellness. The beautiful actress has big plans of delving into fitness as an alternate career too. Her instagram and twitter feed is full of fitness tips and diet plans. “I would love to write a book or do a fitness DVD. Right now, however, it would be difficult for me as I need to concentrate on different things, but that’s something I would like to do in the future. When you have this advantage of being a celebrity, there’s a lot of people you can influence. I want to influence people in the right way. I want to impact people’s lives positively. I know fitness and health are something people look at celebrities for. If I can inspire someone to eat better, and look after themselves and believe in themselves that would be nice,” she says as a parting note.

‘X’ and ‘Ace’

Revolution

8 ambience mall

Taking inspiration from the philosophy of two types of players; the ones fuelled by chaos or control, Adidas is all set to unveil its ‘X’ and ‘Ace’ collection

W

ith the withdrawal of the famous and historic Adidas Adipure 11pro, Adizero, Nitrocharge and Predator boots, Adidas has something stylish and new to offer to its customers. In the words of Pep Guardiola, head coach, Bayern Munich football team, it is chaos or control. There are players who think more about what the team needs and what is the best solution for the team. This intelligent player has a vision about what the team needs.

Then there are the ones who cause chaos. The ones who play on instinct and on talent. They are a little outside of the field. They can create absolutely everything and you cannot control that. You cannot limit that. For the first time, these two distinct types of players will have their own boots, entirely based on their individual requirements. The old Adidas silos have been discontinued. Now, it is all about only chaos and control with one of the largest sports brand of the world. There is only X and ACE.

Jul-Sep 2015 9

New Rage

For those born to control Some players are the ones that pull the strings and set the pace of the game. Every great team needs players that keep it on track and bring the coach’s plans into action. They bring order to a chaotic game. Players like Mesut Özil, James Rodríguez, Oscar, Manuel Neuer and Ivan Rakiti are the glue of some of the world’s best teams. For these players, Adidas has designed ACE15.

Built to control, its revolutionary control web gives ultimate ball control, thanks to an engineered 3D material. A three-layered compound combines with grippy EVA for an unbeatable touch. A groundbreaking new stud configuration puts more studs on the ball during foot-over moves to allow for complete ball control. The unique non-stop grip skin uses 3D dots for perfect control in all conditions. The players that run the show now have the boots to dominate.

The collection is now available at all Adidas outlets 10 ambience mall

For the uncontrollable Some players can never be controlled. They are the spark that ignite a game. They defy rules and structure. The moment of genius that gets the crowd off their seat – that’s their speciality. There is no defence and no tactic that can control them, these players are specialists in chaos. Thomas Müller, Gareth Bale, Luis Suárez, Karim Benzema and Álvaro Morata are these players who strike without a moment’s notice. For such players, Adidas has created X15. It is the ultimate weapon for the game’s most dangerous players. The

techfit collar offers a compression fit around the ankle for superior support and fit. The X-claw base is built to give complete traction with a lightweight feel. The innovative X-cage is built for the most dynamic and agile players in the world. A fragmented and lightweight design gives ultimate support during the most agile movements. The X-skin is made up of a complex three-layered system that delivers comfort, protection and performance in any condition. A game changing product for game changing players.

beauty bites

Sparkle through

the monsoons Raindrops bring a welcome relief from the sweltering heat but with them come a host of skin and hair woes. Here is a list of things that can be done for a radiant you during these humid months

I

t is that time of the year when the bright sun has given way to the cloudy skies. With every spell of rain, your enthusiasm and spirits are revived. However, this is not the case with your skin and hair. Monsoons brings with it several skin and hair related problems, making it extremely important for you to shower some extra care on them. The increasing humidity makes it difficult for your skin to beathe freely. To fight these woes, here are some tips you can follow after consulting your dermatologist for a healthy and beautiful skin throughout the rainy months.

Skin care tips

38 ambience mall

Protect your skin from fungal infections

Cleanse and tone your skin appropriately

Humid weather brings with it a major skin care issue. Here, we are talking about fungal infections. Fungus grows easily in areas where moisture can accumulate and foster growth, like between your toes, armpits and groin. One way to take care of it is to bathe with a pH neutral soap and apply anti-fungal powder post bath. If you have been exposed to rainwater, take a bath in lukewarm water and then apply anti-fungal powder after it. Keeping your skin dry and supple during rains is half the battle won.

During monsoons, your skin either becomes dry or extremely oily. Clean the skin properly but avoid harsh cleansers and perfumed soaps. For normal to dry skin, use a soap-free cleanser and for acne-prone or oily skin, use a salicylic acid based cleanser once a day in the morning and a soap-free cleanser at night. Follow this up with a good balanced toner. During monsoons, an appropriate toner will help to clean the excessive oil, dirt and germs from the skin surface and may help in preventing skin infections.

Hair care tips: Moisturise your skin

Maintain your hair health this season with these six tips coming from the expert!

Monsoons can have a dehydrating effect on dry skin and an overhydrating effect on oily skin. Use a water-resistant moisturiser if you have oily skin. Otherwise use a water-based moisturiser.

1

Try and avoid getting your hair wet in the rains. Always keep them covered with caps, raincoats or umbrellas. In case they do get wet in the rain, wash your hair well using a mild shampoo followed by a good quality conditioner as the hair tends to get frizzy due to rainwater.

2

To avoid hair breakage, comb your hair starting from the bottom and work your way up.

Follow good sunprotection Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more, preferably a water-resistant sunscreen everyday for a longer duration. Re-apply it every two hours. Do not forget to carry an umbrella and sunshades while going out.

Opt for a good diet For a healthy and glowing skin in monsoons, it is essential that you opt for a balanced and nutritious diet. Also

3

consume plenty of water and fluids to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Opt for appropriate procedures under the supervision of a dermatologist Appropriate procedures like medi-facials, photofacials, microdermabrasion or light chemical peels etc, done under the supervision of a dermatologist, can help you get glowing, supple and beautiful skin. Don’t do anything that your dermatologist does not approve of. These quick fixes are extremely safe ways to get that much needed shine on your skin.

Make sure that your hair is fully wet before you apply shampoo. Use only warm water for washing hair. Using hot water could damage your hair and irritate your scalp.

4

Remember to wash your hair gently as hair drenched in rain often ends up in a tangled mess. After washing, do not towel your hair vigorously as this will weaken your hair roots. Instead, opt for a gentle pat and dry routine.

5

Do not leave oil on your hair for too long in rainy season. Oiling the hair an hour or two before washing them is beneficial as it helps in conditioning the hair and prevents them from becoming frizzy and dry after a wash.

6

Tying up your hair is not advised during monsoon, nor is leaving it open is advisable. The best solution would be a loose bun or a loose ponytail as these do not trap much water and also protect your hair from direct exposure to the humidity.

Avoid heavy makeup Do not apply heavy makeup (heavy moisturising creams or oily foundations and cream-based colour makeup) as it may give a dull look on your face in these months of humidity. Opt for monsoon-friendly products for a healthy skin.

How about this time, you explore the places unexplored? “I took the roads less travelled by and that has made all the difference. American Poet Robert Frost was right when he said that an excursion to some of the hidden gems of the world can instantly sway you off your feet. Founded by Tsar Peter The Great, the atypical city of Russia was erected as an edifice of Russia’s growing status in the world. The exotic lands of St Petersburg, revamped by Tsar’s successor, are today the kernel of European architecture and a cache of art and culture. Situated on the shores of Baltic Sea, St Petersburg has everything European that Russia has to offer, but in a unique way intermingling with old traditions. The epicurean atmosphere immersed in colours and light is impregnated with art and culture and perhaps, this is why the city is attracting swarm of tourists every year. One can spend days in the 18th century State Hermitage Museum which has possibly the greatest collection of European Art. The city’s illustrious White Nights revelling starts in May, when it finally yields to spring and the parks are filed with flowering trees and extends till June when the sun languishes towards the horizon and sets the mood for celebrations. Relish your taste buds with the delicious creamy Russian Morozhenoe (icecream) and wander around the breezy riverside embarkments of St Petersburg. Experience the euphoric nights at the musical concert halls and witness the signature tradition of the White Nights: The spectacle of the grand Neva River Bridge drifting apart to pave way for the boat traffic. The tranquility that resides in Malvan melded with multifold beaches and absolutely delicious cuisine makes it a perfect place for all the travellers seeking a serene and discrete destination to relax. Capri, Italy Anna Akhmatova, the most acclaimed writer in Russian canon was unerring when she said, “Italy is a dream that keeps returning for the rest of your life”. Italy, with its beautiful landscape and natural diversity exudes uncanny charms that never fail to captivate travellers. One such hidden charm of Italy is the small island of Capri which lies on the south of the Gulf of Naples in the Campania region. The idyllic island, with its fabled beauty and ‘la dolce vita’ has rivetted Roman emperors, Russian revolutionaries and many artists and celebrities for decades. The four-mile long and 1.5 mile wide island is made up of limestone with giant cliffs and two mountains – Mount Solaro and Mount Tiberio transcending a very blue stretch of sea. Capri has a rich tapestry of pastel coloured houses, lemon grooves, awesome cafes, swanky shops and luxurious boutiques intertwined with the stunning natural beauty. Then there is a stunning cave called Grutto Azzura emblazoned by other worldly blue light. Measuring 52m by 30m and ascending to a height of 15m, it is known that the grutto has submerged up to 20m in prehistoric times, blocking every opening other than the 1.3m high entrance. across the world. A pleasantly-lit restaurant, Terminus 1 has dark wooden decor with different types of seating and quirky interiors. The mood of a travel land permeates every nook and corner that is adorned by witty quotations and cute discoid clocks delineating flags of different countries. What is even unique about the restaurant is its open kitchen and the big

With great symphonic music adding glee to whole ambience, the menu which is inspired from terminals all around the world, is an open Atlas of European, Indian and American ingredients, textures and flavours. Dazed by the sheer number of dishes on the beautifully laid hard-bound menu , I left myself to the discretion of the Executive Chef Ashish and asked for chef’s special to savour my palate. “I could smell the food fill up my hunger before the order was even placed.” The first dish to arrive was a Thai Curry Mousse accompanied with bread basket served with a small bottle of butter paste. For starters, I was served with the sumptuous Maftoul Salad which is a sure recombination for everyone. The leafy salad with pieces of olive and cheese with couscous and spring onions was piquant with pomegranate seeds sprinkled over it. Then arrived the Creamy Onion Soup in a cream tinted bowl with a dash of cheese crostini served with a small creamy toasted bread. The very redolence vouched for the extreme taste of the soup. One can also try Clotted Curd Croquettes for starters which is served with mango

For people intrigued about Mexican food, go nowhere beyond Terminus 1. The luscious crunch tacos stuffed with mac and cheddar and served with cheese curd will leave you wanting for more. They are incredibly yum. The most remarkable aspect about the restaurant is the ‘Progressive Indian Menu’. I

tried the Panchartan Subzi which is a pinnacle of Indian vegetarian culinary with the five components intermingling in a perfect blend. It is a marvellous interplay of flavours on one’s palate with dry vegetable prepared along with the toasted chickpeas with Malabari Parantha and a tinge of hung curd. The juicy grilled chicken prepared in barbecue sauce served with mashed potatoes and zucchini will surpass all the deliciousness. Ever heard of the Karachi Halwa Brownie Cake? The brownie is sandwiched with Karachi Halwa filling that makes it an exotic dessert. It was a wonderful end to the delicious meal. Halt at this amazingingly different place and spend some peaceful moments with your friends and let the chef serve you with incredibly tasty dishes.

To make it easier for you to take your pick, we bring to you the features of the power-packed TT Coupe and RS7. These two machines embody dynamics, emotion and technology.

Audi’s ‘packs-a-punch’ sedan When you think of performance cars, the vision that flashes in your mind is that of a low-slung car with oodles of machismo, sharp lines and mind numbing power figures. Think of a sedan and what you see is a sedate four-door vehicle which can be used to potter around in the town with your family, going on weekend trips et al. But what if you have a family sedan with sportscars characteristics? Enter the Audi RS7. The formula was pretty simple. Take a standard A7 sedan; put RS badges all over it. Shove in a monster of an engine, give it little tweaks here and there and lo! You have a ‘sedan-esque sportscar’ or

a ‘sportscar-esque sedan’. Either way, it is a winner. The RS7 recently got updates in the form of tweaked bumpers at the front and rear and RS specific bits along with Audi’s super cool matrix LED lamps. The cabin comes exquisitely done with a host of features and tech which makes life a lot easier. Apart from all the usual goodies, you have a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electronic stability control system that can be turned off for sideways fun and Audi’s trademark MMI system. There is enough space and luxury for four passengers and a decent sized boot too. The ride too is like that of a magic carpet, thanks to adaptive air suspension system. Under the bonnet lurks a 4.0-litre V8, TFSI, turbocharged engine that puts out 560horses and 700Nm of torque which make for a 0-100kmph sprint under four seconds and a top speed of 305kmph. Blistering performance indeed! This is the perfect car for rich families to take a road trip in. That’s because, at `1.40 crore, ex-showroom Delhi, you need to have really deep pockets in order to own one. Having said that, it will be worth each and every penny.

AUDI TT The TT Coupe has been one of the most iconic Audis ever since it was launched. The latest generation makes its way and we cannot stop drooling over it.

L

ooting a bank does seem to be a good idea. Not that I am a professional criminal but the new Audi TT looks sinfully good. And with my current pay it will be long before I can even think of owning one. Having said that, a TT fan will immediately make out that the coupe has lost weight and adopted a more angular design than its bubbly, rotund predecessor. The front end has been thoroughly redesigned with a trapezoidal grille with LEDs at both ends. Adding character and menace to the front are the Audi’s famed Matrix LED lamps. The

lines have become sharper and have been carried on from Audi’s Sport Quattro Concept and make the car look more purposeful. The rear gets a completely redesigned bumper and tail lamps while the dual exhausts look and mean business. The TT also gets an electronic spoiler which comes on by itself at speeds of over 100kmph. On to the powertrain, the Audi TT gets a 2.0-litre, petrol engine which is turbo-charged and churns out a massive 220bhp of power with 370Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual clutch auto which makes the shifts seamless and

instant. The TT also gets Audi’s Quattro system which is an all-wheel-drive essentially, designed to generate maximum grip when cornering braking and accelerating hard. On the inside, you have a futuristic cabin draped in leather, a flat-bottomed steering wheel that looks the part of a true-blue sportscar and a Bang & Olufsen stereo which, by the way, sounds unbelievably good. Then there is the virtual TFT screen behind the steering wheel which reads out all the info that you can possibly need. The fun part comes when you are behind the steering wheel. Audi claims that the TT can breach the 100kmph mark from standstill in a shade above five

seconds. That’s proper sportscar territory. Also, the handling is telepathic, almost as if the car is reading your thoughts. The best bit about the TT is that it can be used regularly. Audi, in fact has gone on to say that the TT returns an unbelievable 14.3km to a litre, which is pretty awesome for a beginner’s performance car. The TT coupe is not just a fancy machine. It is practical and fun in equal measure. Also, once you drive it, you will be awestruck by the sheer performance and the way the car delivers the said performance. So in case you have about `70 lakh sitting idle in your bank, I suggest you head to the nearest Audi showroom and get your hands on this power-packed machine.

Farhan Akhtar,

the filmmaker and the actor At the core of Farhan Akhtar’s appeal with fans is his intelligence and how real he is. This is the reason why his connect with people is exceptional By Aarti Kapur Singh

W

hile Farhan, the son of lyricist Javed Akhtar and his actorwriter ex-wife Honey Irani, debuted 10 years ago as a director with Dil Chahta Hai, his fan base expanded with films such as Karthik Calling Karthik, Rock On, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and most recently, Dil Dhadakne Do. His work is influenced by not just creative urges but also social responsibility and his commitment reflects in whatever he does. You don’t have too much of screen time in Dil Dhadakne Do? Yes, my sister has always been a bully (laughs). But since when have we started measuring performances by its length. Sunny, my character, has a history in the film and triggers whatever ensues after his arrival.

Wazir, your next release, is one of the most expected films of 2015... I am very lucky and happy to be a part of good films. While I am working with Zoya

your film made it to the `100-crore club? I don’t really follow ‘numbers’. While I do feel that the box office figures are important, I am of the opinion that there is success when you are being remembered as much as 50 years later! For example, there was a great film Lamhe by Yash (Chopra) uncle which didn’t do well at the box office. But, even today, whenever people look back at his life and talk of his best works, Lamhe definitely gets featured and spoken about. Success, to me, is the box office figures and the film in totality. Post-Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, has choosing scripts become about doing something more challenging? At a sub-conscious level, you are always hoping that a movie like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag will come your way and inspire you. It is very difficult to go out and look for it unless you read a story or an article in the newspaper and think it would make a great movie. One of the true benefits of being an actor is to be able to create characters that are so far

parents the value of educating girls. It is a step in a positive direction for MARD. For me honestly, the logo catching on or not catching isn’t an important thing. What about brand endorsements? I will represent the philosophy of the brand to the consumer, so it is imperative for me to agree with it. My criteria of choosing a deal includes aesthetic and social responsibility, my conscience and on a creative level, the clarity of the idea and its ability to be communicated as simply as possible. It is important to remember that I am not lending just my face to a brand but my reputation as well.

Farhan Akhtar’s claim to famE

Farhan’s work is influenced by not just creative urges, but also social responsibility and his commitment reflects in whatever he does for the third time, it’s the first time when I am working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raju Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Bejoy Nambiar. It is a learning experience for me at every step. Tell us something about Wazir ? I am happy with the response that the teaser has got. I play an ATS officer. Our characters (Amitabh Bachchan and me) are bound together by a certain grief of loss of a loved one which brings the two of us together. And within that combined grief, how we end up finding redemption through each other’s loss is what forms the crux of the film. Chess ‘plays’ a metaphor in the film. What’s happening to Dev Benegal’s Bombay Samurai? Dev Benegal is the person who can best answer this question. I have told him that I enjoyed the script very much and that I am ready to shoot whenever he is ready. Since you co-own a production house, do you follow the box office to know if

removed from who you are. That is truly, truly exciting. I guess in that sense yeah, may be I am a bit greedier now. The process of choosing scripts has not changed. There is an instinct you have and you would rather succeed or fail on that instinct than let the mind over-analyse. There is a gut feeling because you connect to a role or a character. If you are engaged by something, others will connect with it too. What’s your next step with your MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) initiative? At this moment, we are looking to create a lot more content. For all the effort that is being put in, the effect seems to be positive. I do feel that I should give it a lot more time. It is fortunate and unfortunate that I am busy with other commitments but we are tying up with Magic Bus. They reach out to children from underprivileged backgrounds. A lot of times, parents in those situations choose not to educate the girl child. That’s the notion that Magic Bus tries to change. It teaches

World Music Day

Live performers, acoustic entertainers and the crowd swaying to tunes; this was the essence of the ‘Fete De La Musique’ fest On the occasion of World Music Day, Ambience Mall, both Gurgaon and Vasant Kunj, were abuzz with music lovers and performances par excellence. Renowned bands from across the musical hemisphere gathered

for the three-day long fest. It covered all genres of performers including Indian classical, instrumental, vocalists, sufi, rock, pop and electronica. The thought behind the event was to celebrate the power and beauty of music.

Mame Khan and troupe With a voice straight from the deserts of Rajasthan, Mame Khan’s persona is as colourful as his music and his music is as rustic as his roots. He belongs to the Mangniar community known for its energetic music. Khan’s musical journey started from of his childhood days with his father Ustad Rana Khan, a legendary singer himself. Having performed in the renowned MTV Coke Studio Season 2, he has also lent his voice to popular Bollywood movies like No one killed Jessica, Luck By Chance and I Am. Khan feels his journey

has been a myriad of experiences and challenges. “I could feel the whole shift when I had to collaborate my music with instruments I had never played with. It was during the Coke Studio season, I had my first encounter with guitar and bass,” recalls Khan. Mame Khan finds special mention and respect in the folk musical circuits of Rajasthan. He has been

experimental to bring a modern touch to Sufi folk songs. “There is a treasure of folk music; it just needs to be presented in the right form,” feels Khan. He loves to travel but with a motive to popularise his music. “I travel around the globe and try to keep our beautiful family tradition alive. I love to be on the move and to get a chance to touch hearts with my music. Ultimately, my music is my happiness in life and I like to share this,” says Khan.

Dinero Ash Dinero’s music mantra is all about creating new sounds, incorporating different instruments and getting people together to enjoy the feel of it. His love for music is not limited to one instrument but a whole bunch of them! He is a master in playing darbuka, ocean drum, santoor, djembe, cow bell, xylophone, rim drums, congo, cajun, bongo, tumbak and a few more western as well as Indian musical instruments. He has casted his spell at several gigs and festivals across the globe. Taking his fame a notch higher, he sang the peppy soundtrack Meri Jawani and is currently working towards recreating the same magic in his soundtracks. Dinero is a complete package when it comes to performance as he is a percussionist, music composer, rhythm factory, lyricist and a singer as well. His latest song, recently aired on Fever 104 and MTV Roots, Meri Jawani conquered the hearts of his listeners. His music is all about technicalities, rhythm, heart and

soul! Dinero’s love for music does not end at playing them! He is a digger for tribal instruments and has started his own line of them. This also acts as a stress buster for Dinero Ash, giving his stage performances and gigs a different feel. Dinero has been training newbies by taking drumming classes as

a part of his D-Club. He believes in the fact that music has no boundaries and should be shared with one and all. His journey till now has been about several collaborations with community drumming circles, international artists, videographers, etc. The Delhi circuit can very well connect with his successful gigs.

Faridkot It was in 2008 when Raj and IP crossed each other’s path, wanting to create original soundtracks and music. So together they formed the band ‘Faridkot’. In a journey of six years and two albums namely ‘Ek’ and ‘Phir Se’, this enthusiastic band has performed in more than 250 shows. Interestingly, this band has named their music genre as ‘Confused Pop’. Recently, they have composed the title track for the dubbed version of the multi-starrer movie ‘The Expendables 3’. This band shot to fame with a nomination for their album ‘Phir Se’ at the GiMA Awards in the Best Rock Album category. The feisty lyrics and beats of the album are a testimony to the bands’ journey of emotions which added essence to their music. IP Singh’s voice touches the hearts of all his listeners.
