TIPS
When travelling to such biodiversity hot spots, do not tamper with the eco-system, such as littering. Rare and endangered species require a pristine environment.
CHILIKA LAKE, ODISHA A beautiful spot for eco-tourism in Odisha is Chilika Lake, a coastal lagoon that is teeming with marine diversity. Entry points to the region from Bhubaneswar are Barkul (97 km), Rambha (120 km) and Satpada (110 km). Spread across the east coast, it is a biodiversity hot spot as rare and endangered species are often seen here, such as the Barakudia limbless skink. Be it coral reefs or wetlands, islands or mangroves, the landscape is as diverse as its denizens. Due to the confluence of salt and fresh water, as it receives water from 52 rivers and rivulets and the Bay of Bengal, different seasons support varying fauna. Due to much silting, the lagoon is shallow, but is home to over 267

species of fish, 29 species of shrimps and prawns, 35 species of crabs, 225 species of birds, and one of the highest populations of Irrawaddy dolphins in India. The lagoon supports the livelihood of nearby villages. Boat rides around the lagoon are offered, often stopping at an island where shops sell freshly cooked seafood dishes and drinks as refreshments. Water transport facilities are available at the state tourism department at Barkul and Rambha, and local country boats are aplenty.
There are numerous restaurants and dhabas along the route, flanked by a scenic view.

Being a bird sanctuary, it’s best to visit during sunrise or sunset when the birds come out in full glory. Avoid the harsh afternoon sun as the birds and animals stick to the cooler areas of the park.
A comfortable 3-hour drive from Delhi, or Jaipur, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary makes for a perfect weekend getaway. The massive park sprawls across 29 sq km, and has cleared tracks for visitors. Built on a natural depression that was later filled by flood waters, there are wetlands and grasslands of varying intensity. Witness a vast variety of species, both resident and migratory, as this is an important breeding and feeding ground for birds. Birders can even set up their camera equipment atop the machans, that provide a scenic panoramic view. Painted storks, neelgai, pythons, ducks, cormorants, hornbills, sandpipers, etc., the flora and fauna are rich and vivid here. Boat rides are even on offer if the tide is high. Motorised vehicles are not allowed inside the premises, but cycle rickshaws can be rented near the gate, and the rickshaw pullers are trained as guides too.

TIPS
HORSLEY HILLS, ANDHRA PRADESH A series of hills at an altitude of 1,265 mt above sea level, located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, is known as Horselykonda. The hills are named after a British collector, WD Horsley, who built his house here in the 1870s to escape the heat of summer in the plains. Vast undulating terrain of green hills as far as the eye can see, a cool refreshing breeze, and the perfect setting for a day out with family and friends; Horsley Hills is captivating. There are state tourist department resorts that can help with overnight stays, and sunrise and sunsets are a must on every visitor’s itinerary. Zorbing, hiking and rappelling are some of the activities offered to tourists here. Another attraction nearby, at a distance of almost 50 km from the hills, is Gurramkonda Fort up on a hill 500 mt high, that was once part of the Vijayanagara kingdom. It literally
translates to ‘horse hill’ as according to a local legend, the statue of a horse made the fort impregnable. But a Maratha chief managed to scale the walls and the fort was conquered by the Marathas.
While driving in hilly regions, do not drive above the recommended speed limit, and keep an eye on the turns. When in Horsley Hills, give technology a break and spend time with your fellow travellers.
Did you know? A local folklore tells of an old woman, Mallamma, who used to live on the hill and was fed by elephants (yengulu). Thus, many locals also refer to this hill as Yenugu Mallama Konda.

HOLA MOHALLA Experience the magnificent Hola Mohalla Festival in Anandpur Sahib, in Punjab. A Sikh festival, it is held the day after Holi. In a tradition started by the 10 th Guru, Gobind Singh, the brave Nihangs display the old martial arts & horsemanship, daring skills in sword fighting, tent pegging, archery & other martial skills. Early morning prayers at the gurdwaras mark the beginning of the festival. Many cultural activities including music, dance and poetry programmes and competitions take place in the evening to unwind the charged up atmosphere. Sikhs, especially the Nihangs, dressed in their traditional martial costumes form part of the pageant. The Nihangs also splash colour on the spectators while showcasing their skills and everyone follows suit.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Hola mohalla commemorates the battles of the Sikhs; the three days around holi are all about display of martial arts, mock fights and tent pegging on horses. The horses are treasured vehicles and revered by the Sikhs. There are two main dals or groups—buddha dal (old ones) and tarana dal (young ones). Buddha dal begins the proceedings.

A cherished tradition at Shantiniketan, started by the popular Indian poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Basant Utsav celebrates Holi with serenity and peace. The festival heralds the season of spring (basant) and thus, the students of Vishva Bharati University arrange a huge social programme where they sing melodious songs, perform elegant dances wearing yellow-coloured clothes and shower colours at the visitors. ‘Baul Gaan’ traditional songs sung by a group of mystical minstrels from Bengal, is a major attraction of the festival. After a day filled with music and dance, the students and teachers wish each other by applying abeer (dry coloured powder). The whole atmosphere becomes mildly scented with the fragrance of abeer. The festival attracts hordes of foreign tourists every year to see a unique facet of Holi.

Varanasi, the city of Lord Shiva, gets transformed during the festival of Holi. Its dusty streets are doused in colours and bhang during the festival. The streets are packed with small groups of people throwing colour and the ghats filled with vibrant hues of pink, blue and yellow. Watch the Holi celebrations from a rooftop, and see the magnificent Ganga below, slowly turning from brown to pink, as people jumped in, splashed around and washed off the day. Bhang, regarded as prasad of Lord Shiva, is an inseparable part of Holi
celebrations in Varanasi. The abundant use of bhang ka gola, barfi or thandai mixed bhang adds extra colour and vibrance to the festival of Holi. At Manikarnika ghat, Sadhus play Holi with ‘bhasm’ or ashes.
DO NOT MISS: As part of the celebrations, a number of events are organised, such as Haasya Kavi sammelans, Mushairas, dance performances and music festivals during the evening. A number of renowned personalities also participate in these events.

While in Nalanda, visiting Hiuen Tsiang Memorial is must. Built in the memory of the Chinese Scholar, the large hall exudes peace and tranquility.
Founded by Kumaragupta I (413-455 CE) of the great Gupta Dynasty, Nalanda attracted many scholars and monks from East Asia like Xuangzang (Hiuen Tsiang) and Yijing (I-Tsing), two Chinese pilgrims who travelled to Nalanda to collect scriptures of Buddhism. 46 |

An archaeological site, Nalanda is miles away from modernisation, industrialisation and above all urbanisation. Those pieces of rubble identifying sculptures, images in stone and bronze pieces, murals, copper plates, brick inscriptions, plaques, coins, terracotta pieces, potteries and parts of architectural marvels, battered with onslaught of time, become eloquent on extraordinary skills of the master artisans and architects who lived here even more than thousand years ago. Those sculptures of Buddha in various postures – Avalokitesvara, Manjusri, Tara, Prajnaparamita, Marichi, Jambhala and of Brahmanical deities like Vishnu, SivaParvati, Mahishasur-Mardini, Ganesha, Surya, etc., – are so flesh and blood that it seems at any moment the Sage will start addressing his disciples. Primarily an archaeological site, Nalanda is miles away from modernisation, industrialisation above all urbanisation. And perhaps that is the reason why it still retains its original splendour. Once you reach here, you wander along the pathways to reach from one
marvel to another and discover the treasure trove that has been holding pilgrims and archaeologists alike around the globe in awe for ages.
FROM THE EYES OF VISITORS Chinese traveller and scholar Tsiang made an arduous journey to ancient Magadha in the 7th century in search of what was then the most diverse seat of learning. He stayed here for three years studying Yoga shastra under the guidance of the legendary scholar Shilbhadra, also the Chancellor of Nalanda. He described Nalanda as a flourishing university of a monastic order where 1,500 teachers

and over 10,000 students lived together. King Ashoka and Harshabardhan came forward as two most effective patrons who lent their resources, as and when required, to take any project forward to an effective culmination. According to aesthetic accounts written by Tsiang, the architecture of the university was simply unique. “The complex was magnificently and meticulously planned…” he added. Even Yijing who spent about 10 years in Nalanda echoed Tsiang. Yijiang (673 CE) wrote, ‘There were 8 monastic buildings and over 300 apartments. Each apartment was equipped with a bed and a bookcase for students. Compartments meant for the monks were spread on all four sides.’

other scholars. Effective drainage system set an example of conscious health and hygiene practice. Granaries that were once filled with seasonal harvest to feed thousands of boarders stand today like other structures scattered around, as the mute evidences of an era gone by. Studying at Nalanda was a matter of prestige. After graduation, scholars would be sent out to the king’s court for special induction before they were groomed enough to take higher responsibility, while a few of them would be invited by other countries like Ceylon, China, Tibet, Java and Korea to attend seminars and discussions on Buddhism, Philosophy and uniqueness of Oriental Art. A few like Padmasambhava, a great luminary of Nalanda, a teacher of Yoga and consciences, travelled out to propagate Buddhism. Padmasambhava, as learnt from the archival sources, went to Tibet and established the first monastery there and became the founder of ‘Lamaism’. Splendid in decay, Nalanda University continues to draw visitors from many parts of the globe.

Historians have it that the Jain thirthankara and Mahavira stayed here on 14 occasions during periods of monsoon. Even Lord Buddha stayed here in a mango grove and gave his sermons to his disciples.
Trampled by the boots of invaders, Nalanda was nearly ransacked by Bakhtiyar Khilji, a Turk, in around 13th century. Khilji plundered the university of its priceless scholastic materials with his brutal attempt – it was learnt later that the Turk mistook the university as a fort – but he couldn’t rob it of its past glory.

Simply Irrfan Khan When his contemporaries in India are busy playing the numbers game and counting crores, Sahibzaade Irfan Ali Khan (yes, that is his real name) chooses to let his craft do the talking. Aarti Kapur Singh
H
is Hollywood roles in The Warrior, The Namesake, A Mighty Heart, Spiderman, Jurassic World and several others have catapulted him beyond the ‘crore club’ and made sure he is as feted in the festival circuit as well as he is recognised in the world of commercial cinema. Well-known to both Indian and international audiences, he has been a chameleon on-screen, whether he is playing a police inspector in Slumdog Millionaire, scientist Rajit Ratha in The Amazing Spider-Man or the grown up Pi Patel in Life of Pi.
THE BEGINNING Irrfan’s choice for his life’s journey was rather unconventional. At his mother’s insistence, and for the purpose of ‘getting a secure job’, Irrfan was contemplating post graduate studies when he earned a grant to learn at National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi in 1984. For those who don’t know about the admission criteria for NSD – the institution requires about a dozen certificates of prior stage or theatre
experience as one of the criteria. Irrfan faked all of them and still got selected. “I often imagined giving my mother this big suitcase crammed with currency notes - like those gangsters do in our masala flicks. It shouldn’t be a surprise I opted for dubious means,” he laughs. After completing his course from National School of Drama in 1987, Khan moved to Mumbai, where he acted in various TV serials like Chanakya, Sara Jahan Hamara, Banegi Apni Baat and Chandrakanta, Sparsh and so on, both on the national broadcaster, Doordarshan as well as private channels. This television stint and sporadic appearances on stage kept him above water during his struggling days. But Irrfan was pining to be on the big screen. His big break was a rather small role, in Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay in 1988.
COMING INTO HIS OWN It is thanks to his stubborn streak that Irrfan trudged on. Even now, he has no complaints about the phase when he was testing waters and says, “I feel very fortunate to have had these opportunities of struggle too. They taught me a lot and challenged me, and www.go-getter.in

I am here to redefine entertainment with stories which engage the audiences differently the challenge sharpens your skills.” The patience and persistence paid off. In the 1990s, he featured in Ek Doctor Ki Maut and Such a Long Journey (1998) and various other movies which largely went unnoticed. After numerous unsuccessful movies, things changed when London-based Asif Kapadia gave him the lead in The Warrior, which was shot in weeks on location in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. In 2001, The Warrior raged in several film festivals, making Irrfan Khan a known face. In 2003, he acted in Asvin Kumar’s short film, Road to Ladakh. After the film got rave surveys at universal celebrations, the film is presently being made into a full length highlight, again featuring Irrfan Khan. That same year he was offered the title part in the acclaimed Maqbool, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. He then showed up in a few movies - sometimes in significant roles and sometimes as supporting the leads (Rog, Chocolate, being a few). He created a wave in Mumbai when he won the Filmfare Award for his negative role in the film Haasil.
The year 2007 was a significant one for Irrfan, who won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Life In A Metro - making mainstream Bollywood sit up and take notice. This was also the year when he established his foothold in the international circuit with The Namesake. This film meant global acknowledgment when he portrayed a non-resident Bengali Professor in the USA. Recalling his anxiety, Irrfan says, “When I went to work on The Namesake, I was wondering he’s so unobtrusive, he’s so unnoticeable. It was a big high when I could pull it off despite not knowing how I could do it.” Irrfan was no longer an obscure actor. Not just in India, but his craft had won him admirers worldwide. His appearances in A Mighty Heart and The Darjeeling Limited sealed his global appeal. But it was 2008’s Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire that catapulted Irrfan in the big league. For this film, Irrfan won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. But, out of all his Hollywood appearances, Irrfan picks two and says, “I loved The Namesake and In Treatment. Sometimes an actor sees a film and he starts looking at his character not as himself, but as that character. The moment when the character comes alive and takes over the actor - that’s a wonderful thing and I discovered it in both these films. That is the magic of filmmaking.”

Known for his amazing versatility, there is not a role that Irrfan can’t play with style. The actor, who was seen recently with Aishwarya Rai in Jazbaa and the critically acclaimed Talvar, also has blazed trails in The Lunchbox, Paan Singh Tomar, Haider, Piku and several others. But he does not wish to draw a distinction between commercial and parallel cinema. “I get extremely moved by great stories and great cinema. I am here to redefine entertainment with stories which engage the audiences differently. I don’t like typecasting movies. Every movie that I have done has given me a different kick. Each and every role I have played has a special importance in my life,” he says. Emphasising that he must connect with the film’s script, Irrfan adds, “It is the
most pathetic situation for an actor to not connect to a film when he is doing it. I hope and pray I am never in that situation. So I have to let the script lead me on.” So what are the kind of roles that Irrfan longs to do? “I am a die-hard romantic. I really want to do comedy. I want to entertain people but I cannot lip sync (laughs). I want to explore romance at various levels - at real levels. That happened with Piku and I am thankful for it.
It was in 2008 that Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire catapulted Irrfan into the big league. For this film, he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
BACK WHERE HE BELONGS For now, Irrfan is, in his words, “..content and happy as a soul who’s in search of excellence and who still hasn’t made peace with his existence and the mystery of life. Yes, there’s certain restlessness that only a personal assurance from God, when I meet him, can cure!”
Irrfan is a die-hard romantic and really wants to do comedy. What keeps him back is that he can’t lip sync. He wants to explore comedy at various levels - at real levels, like in Piku.

oli is about colours, but the celebrations are incomplete without food. Kanji vadas, namak pare, dahi bhalle and Thandai may all be part of the Holi spread, but sweets occupy a special place during Holi. scented fluffy pancakes, malpua, while north India relishes gujiya, ladoos and barfis. People in western India, especially Maharashtra and Gujarat, prepare puran poli with a chana dal stuffing on Holi and down south, Mysore Pak is typically eaten.
TRADITIONAL VS MODERN
Right: Malpua; Below: Puran poli
Traditional sweets have always been associated with festivals, but to break the monotony and shed the image of these being rich and sinful, a fun and modern twist is being given to many of these sweets. And the ones prepared on Holi are no exception. One cannot imagine a holi festivity without the traditional crescentshaped mawa or khoya filled, gujiya. A rich filling of khoya, raisins, desiccated or grated coconut and cardamom powder, covered with maida and deep fried in ghee, is what makes this sweet unique.
Instead of refined flour, semolina can be used in some dishes or brown sugar can replace white sugar. While most households adhere to the classic versions of gujiya, many are opting for contemporary and interesting fillings, but deep fry it nevertheless for the crunchiness. Pumpkin and pineapple halwa, mascarpone cheese, date, figs and prunes, are some of the avante-garde fillings today that have made their way into Indian kitchens, instead of the typical khoya used for gujiyas. Malpuas, the velvety deep-fried pancakes in hot syrup, often eaten with creamy rabdi, are again being given a twist. It is now being served with flavoured low fat yoghurt. Chef Mriganka Roy, Sous Chef at Hyatt Ahmedabad, however prefers
multigrain flour malpuas with soya milk rabdi. He feels it is a much lighter dessert and yet, luscious and flavourful. The usual creamy mawa barfi is being replaced by date or anjeer barfis. Dry fruits enhance the texture of these barfis and are touted as a healthier option too. The rich and milky kalakand has been done away with, and people are opting for blueberry kalakand in several places now. The scrumptious chandrakala filled with mawa is now being filled with chocolate to tantalise the taste buds of the younger generation, who are not too fond of Indian flavours. Halwas have suddenly caught the fancy of home chefs and shops

alike and are being reinvented. The basic suji halwa has been replaced by Moong dal halwa, green apple halwa, badam halwa and shakarkandi halwa for special occasions like Holi. At The Suryaa, New Delhi, baked Gajar ka Halwa that avoids over cooking of carrot, is prepared. The ingredients are similar, but the method of preparation has changed, thus making it healthier, yet, not compromising on the taste.
USE LOCAL, THINK GLOBAL It’s not as if only Indian sweets are being given a spin in order to have a wider appeal. Many now prefer nouvelle desserts instead, on Holi. Remaining true to traditional ingredients, they create global desserts. Thandai mousse cake, gulkand fondue, boondi cheesecake and gulab jamun chocolate cake, are some of the popular innovations. The inventive presentation of these sweets, further enhances their appeal. Similarly, cheesecake, a popular western dessert, has got integrated with Indian flavours and many versions are emerging in hotel kitchens. Boondi cheesecake and malpua cheesecake are now being made.

Cupcakes, too have been given an Indian twist. These are being topped with gulkand, rabdi, gajar ka halwa and mishti doi. French desserts are being married with Indian flavours. Kalakand eclairs and thandai macarons are being created by innovative chefs to woo gourmets.
Chefs today are experimenting with a variety of cooking techniques. At The Suryaa, New Delhi, Gajar ka Halwa is baked. This avoids overcooking of the carrots. Thus making it healthier yet, not compromising on taste.
TASTE PLUS HEALTH Given the lifestyle changes, owing to health concerns, sweets and desserts are being altered to suit evolving palates. Chef Sanjay Thomas, The Suryaa, New Delhi, suggests fruits be incorporated into traditional sweets, without compromising taste or flavours. “We prepare Green apple jalebis with less oil and sugar on Holi. Also, instead of refined flour, semolina can be used in some dishes or brown sugar can replace white sugar,” he elaborates. Ladoos too can become healthier with oats as a substitute and mawa samosas can be baked to avoid frying, according to Chef Roy of Hyatt Ahmedabad. So this Holi, fret not if you are not tucking into the usual ghee-laden syrupy Indian sweets. Instead, be experimental and pamper yourself with some modern Indian sweets and ‘glocal’ desserts.
Dry fruits enhance the texture of these barfis and are touted as a healthier option.

On my way back from office, I join them for practice and now I regularly play with them. It gives me a different high and happiness. I joined it last year during Gudi Padwa and so far, I’m enjoying my journey thoroughly.” Geeta adds, “It feels larger than life to play during festivals like Ganpati and Gudi Padwa, where thousands gather to see you perform. You feel nothing less than a celebrity. People come to click pictures and back home, you are a star among your neighbours and friends.” Geeta can play

Women playing such huge dhols leave onlookers in awe at the first sight and their participation is almost equal in strength as that of men. Like Geeta, Payal Pravin Dalvi, a law student, is a part of Morya Dhol Tasha Pathak in Mumbai. “I saw the group perform at the Palki procession of Siddhivinayak temple during Maghi Ganpati two years back. It moved me so deeply that I joined them immediately afterwards and since then, there has been no looking back. Playing Dhol Tasha is sacred for me. It gives me a break from my mundane life and transcends me to a different world.” Morya is one of the first few Dhol Tasha groups of Mumbai. One of the founder members of Morya, Prasad Parkar tells us, “The trend of Dhol Tasha became popular in Pune. In our Ganpati Mandal, we used to call such groups from the city every year. Many used to gather to see them as such type of procession was not that popular in Mumbai at that time. Most of the Ganesh mandals would have DJ music playing in loudspeakers. That is when the thought of forming our own group struck us. Little skeptical whether people would come to see us, we formed a group of seven and called few Dhol Tasha players from Pune to teach us. It was March 2013 and now we are 150 strong. People welcome us wherever we perform. At that time there were only three such groups in Mumbai and now there are 80.” Prasad, who is working as a CFO in an equity sector, devotes most of his spare time managing the group’s activities.

CULTURAL LEGACY The Dhol Tasha Pathaks are an integral part of Pune’s culture and tradition from where it mainly originated. Pushkar Gokhale, vice president in an IT company and an active member of Shaurya Pathak from the city, says, “Dhol Tasha Pathaks reflect Pune’s rich culture and it has been around for the past 30 to 35 years. From 20 to 30 groups around 20 years back,
now there are more than 200 groups in the city. We take honour in teaching the future generation the art form. Also, we divert our youth strength for social causes. Like last year, 26,000 members of different pathaks joined hands in Clean Pune drive during Ganeshotsav.” Along with keeping the tradition alive, such groups are surely spreading more joy and hope through music.

Dhol is a double-sided drum-like instrument. The barrel is made of steel and is covered on both sides by a pair of leather sheet (stretched hides). The sheets (paan) are stretched across the barrel using interwoven ropes in order to tighten them, this creates sound of any desired frequency. It is played with the help of a tipru- a wooden stick and tied to the player’s waist. 74 |

ndian dance celebrates WOMAN as perhaps no other art form. The physical and emotional sensibilities of the female are in full display in Indian dance forms. They are celebrated as bringing change, opening up new paths, infusing passion, love and beauty in daily lives. The ability of a woman to shape new life, create extraordinary from the ordinary is truly awe-inspiring. Women through history have reinvented paradigms for dignity, equality and freedom. Although, history of world is written by men, women’s history of the world dominates the script. Her womb is the womb of Creation from which men and women come forth, men such as Rama & Krishna, Buddha & Mahaveer, Christ & Mohammed, Nanak & Gandhi, Mandela & Lincoln……….., and the list hasn’t been exhausted yet.

WOMEN IN HISTORY I have been amazed and overwhelmed by women’s history in India. Many of my own choreographies are pegged to women such as Radha, Draupadi, Ahilya, Meera, Lal Ded, Kasturba Gandhi, Bhikaiji Cama, among many others. In a galaxy of luminous women, it is noteworthy how each one is fearless, brooks no indignity. Such women have written and lived according to their own script and idea of womanhood. I have paid my homage in dance to succeeding generations of self-confident, brilliant, strong yet compassionate women whose lives are a message for contemporary times as well.
I have been amazed and overwhelmed by women’s history in India. Indic family traditions teach respect to the four (4) entities, first among which is Mother ‘Matru Devo Bhava, Mother is God’. Next are Father, Guru and Guest! I have celebrated WOMAN as mother in my work such as Jabalaa, who honestly and fearlessly told the great Rishi Gautam that she did not know about who her son Satyakam’s father was. All she knew as the truth was that she was Jabalaa, the mother and Satyakam was her son. The Rishi rose from his seat to offer respect to this Satyavaadini, speaker of truth. Her son Satyakam grew up to become one of the great rishis in Upanishadic times. As I showed Jabalaa washing clothes in river (Narmada), drying them in the sun I could visualise this most ordinary woman with extraordinary strength of

character. Audience shed tears as I enacted her confronting the Rishi who had earlier refused admission to her son in his ashram.
DEPICTING RADHA My Radha becomes exclusively mine in the choreography in which she fulfils a challenge thrown by Krishna’s chief queen Rukmini, to walk across a narrow beam of wood across a pond to prove total love for Krishna. Radha is self-absorbed, singing and dancing as she places a big pot of water on her head and walks across, while Rukmini, who also balances the pot of water, slips and falls in the pond. Rukmini is inconsolable as Krishna explains the reason, that she had fixed her attention on the pot rather than on beloved Krishna, whereas Radha had only him in her consciousness. Much to the incredulity of my audience wherever I have presented this, my Radha politely rejects the idea simply saying, “I was self-absorbed in my aatma, in my supreme self which contains the entire Creation and you too Krishna, as part of Creation.” My Radha is different, independent, dignified and one with her own superconscious Self. Similarly my interpretation of the legendary Panch-Kanyaa viz Ahilaya, Taara, Kunti, Draupadi and Mandodari, is based on research, thought and action and the ultimate mystery around it. Story of the human race begins with WOMAN. SHE is the representative of PRAKRITI, the mysterious NATURE. SHE is Mahamaya, the great conspirator. SHE is SHAKTI, the power behind Creation. Indian dance deals with the absolutely mundane to supramundane concept of WOMAN in superbly convincing manner. Dr Sonal Mansingh is an eminent dancer who has mastered multiple Indian classical dance forms like Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Chhau.

And to those who are already successful it will bring sustainability, positive reinforcements, further success and introduce to a new and higher perspective and lifestyle.”
Advertorial
The Journey to my methods “I am someone who has evolved, and with every step of my life have just tried to be better in what I love, I don't just predict your future, I communicate, consult and help you empower your energies.” Every person is having an energy, a combination and each combination is different, hence they have only certain types of energy and lack other ones. This is what makes us human, that we can’t be perfect but we have to strive to be. My exclusive research and study of missing numbers in your birth graph helps me to determine what are the strong energies that I can see in you and uplift the missing energies to suit to your dreams and ambitions. With my years or research and extremely positive results, I help these missing energies in your graph. Its like improveme providing nutrition to a body, by way of simple remedies and self improvement tools that I have developed by myself. The curious case of 4 & 8 “In my research, nearly 70% people are connected to these numbers, and this loop then influences your further generations too.’ One usually guards themselves because we have all heard a lot about disappointments and delays, sorrows and hardships of 4 & 8 and with 7 they form a trio of these energies. But I see them powerful steroids, to be handled carefully. Then I will channelize it to positive planning and maximise your fortune’s profits. Feel blessed if you belong to them, we will empower your life and, learn through 4 & 8 and reap more fruits of your hard work than you would have previously did. Handle your energies well, because only in the right hands they will empower with 4 & 8.
Spotlight: Love, relations and universal energies Love between you and family or friends, is a bond beyond any calculations. But that does not mean, a relationship isn't stressed by ongoing. There are times we connect very well with our family, and then for certain issues there comes a stressful period. Knowing and understanding on your numbers connect with your loved ones, will help you understand why you are facing what you are facing in that relationship. I have saved marriages by making partners understand each other and their numbers, saved families from getting split, helped children to love their parents pare in an older age.
Is life simpler without 4 & 8: The other side of the story Individually every number has its massive merits but if it doesn’t get the support of your fadic/destiny number it cannot do much for you. 1, 9, 5 & 3 are very powerful numbers and should get magnanimous success as per individual calculations, but if you are still struggling and have faced certain problems you should try and understand your state of energies and detangle the web, to create a free path for your future. “A bright star has its own energy, but lighting a lamp in the dark is much more meaningful.” We all are a mix of many numbers, their combinations play us differently and affects us differently. We have to empower these combinations in our fortune, to achieve what is extraordinary, which makes us exemplary individuals, that help themselves and in addition help their families, society, help someone in need who looks unto you. My advice “Knowledge empowers you, and there is nothing more powerful than to understand yourself, your potentials, what holds you back, what drives you forward.” I provide you this knowledge about yourself, though numerology. Knowledge about finances, career, turnaround years, lucky dates, months, years, things that help you have a strong backup plan for everything in life. “No mantra, fasting, name changes singularly guarantees you anything. Ultimately its you who has to foresee the future, and I help you to do so.” Follow a simplistic solution Meh that I call Sandhiya Mehhta’s remedy system, and we will work on your energies and align them in the right direction The Success road ahead There is a Buddhist saying, “You yourself must strive; the Buddha’s just point the way.” f you believe in yourself and the universe let me just show you a direction, you yourself will lead on the right path and achieve the results within no desired time. I have received tremendous positive feedbacks to have faith in the universe myself. “I am not god; I just understand my field of work and use it to help people, guide them and provide them with some efficient ways to be happy, peaceful, ever-glorious and a good part of our society & I continue to achieve results with all my clients."- Sandhiya Mehhta.

HEALTH CARE scenario in India
A fast developing medical hub, India is in a constant flux to meet rising needs, while offering quality medical solutions.
O
ne of the top destinations globally for medical tourism, India provides world-class medical facilities, state-ofthe-art infrastructure and easy access to affordable treatments, with increasing primary and secondary healthcare centres in both urban and rural India, well-equipped with preventive medicine, skilled doctors and nurses, and an ever-growing pharmaceutical industry.
Here’s a look at what leading practitioners in the medical industry have to share regarding the current health scenario in India, and the world.
SPECIALTY CLINICS IN FOCUS Specialty clinics are setups that focus on specific diseases or conditions and cater to all aspects of that condition. Multi-specialty clinics, on the other hand, offer treatment for a variety of diseases with greater infrastructure.
Dr Vikas Agrawal, Sleep Apnea & Transoral Robotic Surgeon, attached to Asian Heart Institute and ENT Hospital, Kandivili, Mumbai, says, “Specialty clinics offer specialised and expert treatment with regard to a particular condition, providing all the necessary infrastructure, equipment and medical specialists. As a result, it’s a one-stop solution for the patient, saving both time and money.” According to him, a regular clinic tries to treat everything, without focussing on any
Renal transplantation in focus Renal or kidney transplantation is usually carried out when the patient is in the last stage of renal disease. The classification of the kidney transplantation is done as cadaveric (deceased donor) or living donor, according to the recipient’s organ source. Living donor is further divided into living related (genetically related) or living unrelated (non-related) transplants, which depends on the existence of the biological relationship between the donor and recipient. When the patient is at the end stage of kidney disease and the glomerular filtration rate is reduced to less than 10% of normal functioning, this is an indication for kidney transplant. If a patient has active substance abuse, recent cancer,

functioning. The medications are recommended to help the kidney produce urine and for the suppression of the immune system to accept the new kidney. These medicines need to be taken for the rest of the life. Transplant increases the life of a patient by 10-15 years or more as compared to dialysis. There are fewer complications. Hence, a person should go for kidney transplantation as soon as possible. Almost 95% of grafts are working fine at one year and around 70% at 10 years. or failure to adhere to prescribed medical regimens, then he or she may not be fit for transplant. special condition. This leads to lowering of treatment standards, when compared to a speciality clinic. Dr Sadhana Deshmukh, dermatologist who spearheads Forever Yooung Skin Hair Body Aesthetics Clinic further adds, “Specialty clinics are beneficial to patients as the latest medical advancement and noninvasive treatments are continually being mastered to deliver the best world-class treatments, using a 360 degree approach to provide holistic approach.” Talking about the current global scenario, Dr Agrawal explains, “Globally, the trend is shifting towards setting up of more and more speciality clinics, as everyone wants specialised treatment.” Multi-specialty clinics are unable to focus on a particular condition, he opines. “
IN SEARCH OF BALANCE According to Dr Amit A Saraf, Consultant Physician, Jupiter Hospital, Mumbai, the global health scenario appears to be, at one end of the spectrum, very promising, and at
the other end quite disappointing. He says, “With the overall health care facilities available worldwide, many diseases like polio have been eradicated. Similarly, many of the infectious
epidemics such as cholera, tuberculosis, etc., have been curtailed by early diagnosis and prompt treatment. With overall awareness of the benefits of exercise, healthy food habits and toxic effects of alcohol/tobacco, much of the world population has acquired a heathy lifestyle. This has consequently led to longevity of healthy life and increased life expectancy.” However, Dr Saraf adds, “There is a constant evolution of infective agents such as bacteria, viruses, etc., making them drug resistant, rise in global travel leading to rapid transmission of microbes, rise in population straining the health care industry, decrease in hygienic living standards, and so on.” Scarcity of clean drinking water in many parts of India, less hygienic living standards and overcrowding cause rapid transmissions of epidemics. Increased use of synthetic products in food also leads to increased prevalence of cancers. “Both these ends of the spectrum give us food for thought as to areas of potential improvement and areas to highlight good healthy habits,” Dr Saraf concludes.

Quality budget stay Kaneswaran Avili, CEO and Co-Founder of Global Rooms, discusses his company’s partnership with budget hotels in Southeast Asia under the ‘Nida Rooms’ brand. How was Nida Rooms conceptualised? During my aviation experience in South and Southeast Asia, I noticed that there’s a constant stream of travellers in this region and I felt that affordable hotel chain model of Nida Rooms would work very well here and in other emerging Asian markets. Nida Rooms officially launched operations a few months back. It’s already locked in over 2,500 hotels in four countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. What is the USP of Nida Rooms? We aim to provide Reach, Revenues and Recognition for our partners. We enter into agreement with existing hotels by locking in certain rooms to be dedicated to us and work directly with our hotel partners. Also, we ensure that only those hotels that genuinely meet our standards are partnered with.
How do you maintain set standards? With Nida Rooms, the guests will have the peace of mind to know that all rooms purchased comes with the minimum Nida Rooms verification of quality, i.e., a comfortable bed, clean linen, attached bathroom, hot shower, cable TV, AC and, most importantly, free Wi-Fi. Any plans for India? We are receiving overwhelming response in Indonesia and Malaysia to begin with. In the next stage, starting March, we are increasing our footprints in Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines. In the third stage of expansion, we plan to expand into the India, the Middle East and Europe. Simpolo introduces strong outdoor tiles There are many outdoor tiles available to consumers. While all have their good points, some might not be the right fit for your space, climate, or function. For outdoor flooring or for heavy traffic areas, the foremost concern is functionality than aesthetics values of the tile. In-line with this, Simpolo introduces India’s strongest ceramic tiles with 20 mm thickness. This collection is available in 600x600 mm known as Flakes series. It is a full body, monolithic creation, using LB’s Divario Powder Press Technology, a process akin to simulating rock formation in nature.
