Educating the next generation is essential for the development of any society, as it builds life skills and competence, which pave the way for social institutions to emerge. Education teaches what skills and behaviours are desirable, what subject knowledge is critical to surviving in the world, and what principles are needed to excel in the workplace. In addition to influencing values and norms, education also enables the building of community structures, and how these contribute to the nation's progress.
The development of entrepreneurial skills at a young age encourages creativity, innovation, and collaboration which are highly valued by top universities. SSVM Institutions in Coimbatore and Mettupalayam believe in the value of creativity, indulging students to learn through activities that allow them to innovate and develop entrepreneurial skills. In addition to other professionals, SSVM aims to create a large number of student entrepreneurs. As young students learn about novel business concepts, they are also encouraged to become active citizens, constantly curious about how new knowledge contributes to society's advancement.
‘The inspirational Guru Awards’ will be given to teachers who have made immeasurable contributions to the lives of students and society.

And Rameshwaram, which is located on the coast, enjoys steady trade winds for most of the year, rendering it an ideal spot for kitesurfing.

An iridescent blue ocean, swaying palm fronds, a pristine beach and kitesurfers bobbing on the water! This is Rameshwaram, a tropical paradise tucked away on the Pamban island in Tamil Nadu
Interestingly, kitesurfing is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Rameshwaram Visitors to this town chiefly comprise devotees, who make a beeline for the revered Ramanathaswamy temple. But this windy coastal town draws professional and amateur kitesurfers alike. Kitesurfing is a wind-powered surface watersport that uses a kite and a board to move across the water. To successfully kitesurf, one needs to control the kite and harness the wind to get the board moving.
The primary and natural requisite of kitesurfing – which combines the aspects of surfing, windsurfing, paragliding and wakeboarding, among others – is wind.
The Rameshwaram coastline boasts quite a few kitesurfing spots but the cream of the lot is Swami's Bay due to its consistent cross-shore winds. A paradise for beginners, Swami’s Bay brags flat waters, making the first attempt at kitesurfing an easy and happy experience, and encouraging newbies to the next level of the sport. The bay also offers extraordinary waves at the reef for pro-riders who make the best of it, riding the waves with panache that leaves spectators in awe.

While Kathadi North is flanked by the Palk Strait, Kathadi South is in the Gulf of Mannar and both provide excellent waves and winds for kitesurfing all year round. Kathadi is also popular for paddle boarding and kayaking. There are a few other sites along the coast where kitesurfing can be pursued as well. One of them is the tiny fishing hamlet of Manapad, tucked south of Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) in the state. The coastline here is said to have been formed by multiple layers of lava accumulated over centuries. This gives Manapad the rare distinction of witnessing the best wave formations throughout the year. So, if you are looking for a unique travel experience, head to the Rameshwaram coast!

I must have been in junior school when I came across a black and white photograph of two men in heavy jackets with oxygen tanks strapped to their back against a mountain. The peak was Mount Everest (the highest in the world) and the men – Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay – are said to be the first to scale it. Their base camp was in Nepal. A landlocked country, Nepal boasts some of the most rugged and challenging mountain terrains in the world, making it an ideal destination for seasoned mountaineers and trekkers. While trekking and mountaineering are two of the most sought-after adventure experiences the country has to offer, they are not the only ones. Such adrenalinepumping activities as mountain flights, helicopter tours, hand-gliding, paragliding, mountain biking, bungee jumping, white water rafting and jungle safaris add to Nepal offers a mix of both well-tread and breathtaking tourist trails as well as quaint and onerous routes.

The road less taken Mount Everest, the holy grail of mountaineering, is the first name that comes to mind with the mention of Nepal. And for good reason. Trekkers from the world over dream of ascending the iconic Himalayan peak. Lukla in Nepal is where the trek begins and leads to the Everest Base Camp. It is one of the most coveted and challenging trails and those aiming to make it all the way to the top require a specific level of commitment, endurance level, preparation and fitness. This high-altitude route offers insights into the local culture and a chance to gaze at the tallest mountain on Earth. Nepal offers a mix of both well-tread, breathtaking tourist trails as well as quaint and onerous routes. One of the most popular and classic expeditions in Nepal is the Annapurna Circuit trek, which takes one through sculpted terrains, open wilderness, charming bridges over gurgling rivers, faraway villages and small community lodges-cum-teahouses. The Manaslu, Langtang and Dhaulagiri treks are equally winsome, while the remote treks in Upper Mustang and Gokyo Valley have their own appeal. Not to forget, the most diverse of all, the Great Himalayan Trail, the Nepal part of which boasts a staggering 1,700 km of track.
Paragliding is the most popular activity here. At Phewa Lake, take a boat ride to the Tal Barahi Temple on an island. Sarangkot, another popular tourist hotspot, offers sweeping views of the mighty Himalayas. You can walk, hike or cycle to Sarangkot, about 10 km from Pokhara town. While most tourists try zip lining and paragliding here, you can choose to step away from the crowd and watch the clouds lazily float over the undulating skyline! It's also apt for bird-watching. The melting point of glaciers, Pokhara makes for a thrilling rafting point as well. And for those who wish to see the prominent peaks of the Himalayas, the ultralight flight experience here is unmissable. The most common challenge travellers face in Nepal is how to fit everything into an itinerary, which is why many return to this Himalayan paradise time and over again.

35 Trekking in Nepal is a humbling experience, as you make your way through some of the world's highest peaks. The warm hospitality of local residents, who step out of their way to help tourists, enhances the experience. Immersing yourself in the Nepali culture and tradition will help you understand the mountains better!
Beyond treks Luckily, you do not need to be a hardcore adventurer to make the most of outdoor activities in Nepal. From water exploits and wildlife encounters to aerial escapades –Nepal offers all this and then some. If you wish to soar into the sky, Pokhara is the best place to be. Helicopter tours, hand-gliding and ultralight flights that operate from here are extremely popular among visitors. These aerial experiences, which lend a bird’s-eye view of the stunning landscape of Pokhara, are thrilling and electrifying. The region is also known for jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna range. Nature lovers should drop by the Chitwan National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this park is home to the one-horned rhinoceros and royal Bengal tiger. Along the rivers, you will find gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles basking in the sun. Enjoy a jeep safari in the depths of the forest or opt for a calm canoe ride. If you are travelling with children, stop by at the gharial breeding centre, for interesting information.

HARIKA DRONAVALLI
India's star chess player Harika Dronavalli has been on a celebratory spree since she and her team members bagged the bronze medal at the recently-conducted 2022 Chess Olympiad in Chennai. A backbone of the Indian women's chess team for more than a decade, Dronavalli says she was more emotional about the win as she "made it at nine months of pregnancy".
Currently residing in Hyderabad, the chess queen recalls her journey. “Chess happened to me organically. My sister and I used to play a lot of indoor games and we both learnt to play chess,” she says.

“In the beginning, I was not sure. I felt the competitions were stressful but as I started winning, I gained confidence. I toiled for my wins and the medals, and there was no looking back. Also, I enjoyed travelling for the game," the Grandmaster says.
“I love travelling but I am never in a hurry. Although I love to sharpen my moves inside my hotel room, I equally love the window view of the destination city. I go out of the hotel room, take brisk walks, soak in the spirit of the place and relax. Apart from the natural beauty, I love the culture and people of different countries. I also enjoy photography but the photographs are for my personal memorabilia,” Dronavalli adds.
For Dronavalli, chess has been deciding her travel destinations. From her hometown Guntur in Andhra Pradesh to the world, chess has taken her places! Iceland, the UK, Sweden and Switzerland top her list of favourite destinations. When in India, apart from Hyderabad, she is besotted by the royal beauty of Udaipur, Rajasthan.

I am a foodie. When in Hyderabad, I don’t miss out gorging on biryani. I either go out or order in from any of the city's restaurants.
