Daisies are composite flowers--they actually consist of two flowers combined into one. Daisies symbolize innocence and purity. The common name "daisy" is applied to a large handful of species among several genera within the huge Asteraceae family of plants, a group known for blooms that are flat and disc-shaped, with petals that form rays projecting outward from a central hub. They are distinguished by a composite flower head composed of 15 to 30 white ray flowers surrounding a centre consisting of bright yellow disk flowers.

PHAD PAINTING
Rajasthan
This 700 years old narrative painting style has a deep religious connect for the Bhopa community of Rajasthan. Associated with the storytelling tradition, the people of the community put a phad painting in the background and, sing, dance and narrate traditional stories of kings and gods. These paintings are mainly spiritual, borrowing inspiration from the Ramayana, Mahabharata or stories of Lord Krishna and local heroes from history. Phad paintings are created on handwoven coarse cotton cloth. The entire process of making a Phad painting is completely natural, with the use of natural fibres, and natural paints sourced from stones, flowers, plants and herbs. The painting is traditionally done on a piece of cloth with interesting pictorial narrative representations. A unique aspect of Phad paintings is that the construction of the figures is flat, and they all face each other.

MADHUBANI
Bihar
Madhubani art is one of the most popular Indian tribal art forms. Also known as Mithila Painting, legends has it that King Janak ordered local artists to paint the walls of his palace on the occasion of the wedding of his daughter Sita with Lord Rama and that laid its origin. Madhubani paintings are characterised by figures that are prominently outlined, like bulging fish-like eyes and pointed noses. The themes of Madhubani paintings

usually include natural elements like fish, birds, animals, turtles, sun, moon, bamboo trees and flowers, like a lotus. Love, valour, devotion, fertility, and prosperity are often symbolized by geometric patterns, which is another important feature of this art form. An artist paints what he sees. Madhubani painting is an expression of artists’ inner-self; they take inspiration from their environment and that is why one can see nature, animals and images of Gods and Goddesses in Madhubani Paintings.
PATTACHITRA
Odisha
The word Pattachitra is said to have evolved from Sanskrit words patta (canvas) and chitra (picture) – a painting done on canvas – portraying mythological themes. Pattachitra is thus a painting done on canvas, and is manifested by rich colourful application, creative motifs and designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction. The artists make intricate paintings of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Krishnaleela, Geet Gobind and Radha Krishna. Till date, these paintings have a strong spiritual connect for the locals. The creation of the Pattachitra paintings is a disciplined art form, and the chitrakars maintain rigidity in their use of colours and patterns, restricting the colours to a single tone. With the passage of time, the art of Pattachitra has gone through a commendable transition, and the chitrakars have painted on tussar silk and palm leaves, and even created wall hangings and showpieces.

Lines are used in such a way that it conveys a sense of movement to the still images. Dots and dashes are added to impart a greater sense of movement and increase the amount of detail. The paintings are bright and colourful, painted with natural colours derived from charcoal, soil, plant sap, leaves and cow dung. Traditional, aesthetic and mysterious, the ethos of Gond art lies in its ability to express the language of the tribe’s soul on walls, canvas or paper, making this ancient art form a true reflection of India’s rich artistic heritage.
WORLI ART
Maharashtra
Easily recognisable for its stick figures, basic geometric patterns like dots, circles and triangles, these rudimentary wall paintings are said to have originated in 2500 BC. The art form gets its name from the indigenous tribes, Warli from North Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra in India. The Warli tribes showed immense love and respect towards nature and it is evident from the shapes used in their paintings. The art demonstrates life just the way the early practitioners (Warli tribes) used to see and experience it. For decades, this art form has been using only two basic and earthy colours – mud colour and white. Originally, a mixture of cow dung and red mud was used to make the huts and this was used as the background for the art. The figurines and their humdrum was created with white colour, which was created with the use of white pigment made from a mixture of rice paste and water, using gum as a binder. The characteristic style of the

RESTORE OUR EARTH We all require a healthy Earth for our livelihoods, health and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity. Climate change and other environmental degradations have broken our natural systems, leading to new and fatal diseases as well as a breakdown of the global economy. On this World Earth Day (April 22), let us talk about the opportunities that lay ahead to restore our planet. CLIMATE LITERACY Climate literacy is a necessary approach to fight climate change and for a better understanding of environmental concepts. Heightened ambition on climate literacy will play a key role in achieving net zero emissions and will provide the next generation with unique perspectives and solutions to environmental issues.

Trees4Earth is a programme that aims to inspire citizens of the Earth to plant trees to fight climate change and restore habitats. Over 900 million trees have already been planted in India since 2016, many through collective efforts of governments, NGOs and corporates.

Corporate Social Responsibility - IndiGoReach Corporate Social Responsibility - IndiGoReach
Flight of dreams where sky is the limit IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, observed this year’s International Women’s Day 2021, with the girls of 19 Government Schools in Kolkata. We partnered with Transform Schools to celebrate this important occasion and organized a series of online interactive sessions for 800+ girls enrolled in these Govt Schools. During these four days, our team of IndiGo Pilots came forward and shared their personal stories of growth, success, and resilience. Our women Pilots shared how their hard work, perseverance and determination helped them in achieving their ‘flight of dreams’ and becoming successful pilots today. In a first of its kind initiative, the students enthusiastically came forward and interacted with our Pilots and enquired about the ways and means of choosing aviation as a career. Truly an enriching experience for children and an inspiration for all of us at IndiGo .
