Washington Monument Re-opened
Goa Tourism Bans Plastic
The Washington Monument on the National Mall has been reopened to the public in September 2019. Now, visitors can ride an elevator to the top to get the best view of D.C.’s most famous sites. For much of the last decade, visitors have only been able to gaze at the structure from a distance.
To preserve the natural beauty of Goa, the tourism ministry has declared war on plastic by banning use of bottles, cups and straws made of plastic. An extensive three-month long information campaign has also been launched where all locals involved in the tourism business will be educated about rejecting plastic and opting for more eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives.
Australia’s Penguins have a Home In 1985, alarmed by the falling numbers of penguins on Phillip Island Nature Park, Victoria, Australia, the state government bought every piece of the property in the region and kept it for the penguins. The process was completed in 2010. The birds are now thriving. There are now about 31,000 breeding penguins in the region, up from 12,000 in the 1980s. Phillip Island Nature Park is the most popular wildlife tourist destination in the state of Victoria, drawing 7,40,000 visitors in 2018.

If you can keep your head when all about you, Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you, Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!” If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!! Famous as the home to Blackbuck and Chital deer, several other species of deer can also be seen in their natural habitat. eye once you enter the vicinity of Shamirpet Deer Park. The Shamirpet lake is an artificial water body, created to give a fresh lease of life to the area and its residing animals. Since its construction, birds and other wildlife have been frequenting this area during summer. As the name suggests, it’s a park for deer protection as their population in this region had been severely going down over the years due to rapid urbanisation. The national park was built during the rule of Nizam kings in the 20th century.
A favourite of Hyderabad’s residents for weekend outings, the Shamirpet Deer Park also has a little play area for children with swings and a long winding path along the lake for adults to unwind and soak in nature’s beauty.

confectionery. If you feel that the sweets you are gifting or consuming during festivals seem more repetitive than experimental, then it is a time for change. This can be in the form of an amalgamation of modern flavours and traditional items resulting in exquisite luxury treats. This is where Nihira comes in, changing the game by providing an experience never witnessed
36
before. Launched just a year back, it offers a gourmet collection of Indian sweets and savories that are laced with a sumptuous twist using crafty ingredients and surprise inclusions. Their most interesting experiment is the ubiquitous motichoor ladoos that get kneaded in whiskey, champagne or red wine. The heady mix of luscious bourbon and grainy motichoor offers a rare treat, inducing a mouthwatering culinary experience. The arrival of the bubbly and red wine in the realm of sweet making has great potential for some interesting experiments. The extremely innovative flavours and ingredients set these sweets apart from their traditional counterparts. It all commenced in a small kitchen in 2017, when motherdaughter duo Subha Aggarwal and Arshya Aggarwal, started experimenting with sundry options to construct a barfi fusion as an alternative to the traditional mithai. They felt that there was a need for something different which appealed to everyone, especially the younger generation. The favourites from their kitchen are the Liqueur Ladoos - a blend of premium spirits. This festive season one can also try a delectable selection of barfis — Cheesecake Barfi, Bubblegum Barfi, Oreo Barfi and Blueberry Barfi — an unconventional mix that will keep you salivating for more!
www.trujetter.com
Must Try
A must-try fusion dessert this season is Gulab Jamun Cheesecake. Small pieces of gulab jamun placed in between the cheese and biscuit form a delightful combination.
Nihira also offers a variety of savoury snacks to satisfy all zesty cravings—Peri-Peri Namkeen Paare, BBQ Namkeen Paare and Jalapeno Mathi Crackers to name a few. These food items can be enjoyed at any time of the year, whatever the celebration might be. Traditional ladoos also gain a new avatar as they are created using the purest extract of lavender, tulsi and coconut. Their bestsellers include the unique combination of chandan
modak, a holy offering for the Gods; gourmet prasad made out of peach boondi with almonds and cranberry and their blueberry panjiri. Not only this, the sweets for each traditional festival have been given a separate exquisite packaging, making them a good option for gifts. In the bygone era, grandmothers were associated with old school sweets, while the younger generation loved the unconventional chocolates,

candies and other trending delicacies. Twisting the traditional mithai with fresh and fun flavours is important to bridge the gap between old and new, create something fresh and exciting, while keeping Indian roots intact for all generations to savour together. With fusion food becoming the new cool concept of the culinary world, it takes delicacies to a new level by combining ideas from different cuisines and creates a singular eating experience
