tis the season mayfair key clubbians !

as christmas lingers around , i hope everyone gets what their wants and NEEDs this year ! i know i’m wishing for some new airpods … nonetheless, please atleast take a day out of your break to be appreciative of what you have, be thankful of those who provide for you and make you happy! i challenge you during the break to give to those in need! many food banks and animal shelters always need volunteers to feed people during this time of year.

while school settles down in time for the holidays, please make sure to stay healthy and to not let those grades slip ! i understand it’s finals for most of you, so study hard ! you got this. make sure to find a nice space for you to be able to study and work effectively as well as nourish and treat yourself when needed . and some word of advice … c’s get degrees. if you didn’t get the best grade , don’t sweat it ! it will not beat you down as much as you think :).

to keep it short and sweet i’ll end it here , but to those who need it right now; you are important. you are great. and im so proud of how far you’ve come <3. love my mayfair monkeys ! HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SERVIN’ SOON !!

What's SWINGING GREEN MONKEYS!

My name is Tate and I proudly serve as a member of MKC's hype team and the division’s spirit team! This month has been absolutely BANANAS for us, starting with the Bellflower tree lighting on December 2nd! Members helped out with activities and assistance throughout the event, while also enjoying the lighting of the tree and snow! We then had our member induction ceremony, which happened on the 14th! We spent time together with a potluck for all dues-paid members while also giving them their member ID's and certificates for becoming an official dues-paid member! Following that, our DCM on the 17th! The members came together and enjoyed fun games and activities in their pajamas with some blankets! We then hosted our Mayfair and Bellflower Keyristmas event on the 22nd! We had so much fun spending time with BKC! We had our own potluck, enjoyed playing some games, and had a mini service event! Everyone wore sweaters and brought blankets, it was overall a really wholesome event! Being apart of this club truly can bring someone out of their comfort zone. Events bring everyone together to have a great time, which I think is beautiful! We encourage you to come to future events because they are honestly SO MUCH FUN!! We then had our ice skating fundraiser at The Rinks on the 23rd! We skated on the ice and had lots of fun seeing everyone! Great job serving this month everyone!

Kiwanis Corner Event Recap

PREHISTORIC-TC

| Adults

Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide. Aktion Clubs draw members from various organizations that support individuals with disabilities, as well as other community programs

On December 4th from 9am-4pm I attended prehistoric-tc, which was the candidate training conference this year. I got to meet lots of other aspiring leaders from region 3 and region 8; and I got to learn a lot about being a lieutenant governor. Attendees got to talk in small groups with different ltgs and ask personalized questions. There was a lot to learn about leadership and it was nice to meet other key clubbers who were passionate about their divisions. Overall it was a very fun and educational experience!

MEMBER INDUCTION CEREMONY

HEY HEY GREEN MONKEYS! Recently we had our Member Induction Ceremony. Our members were able to pick up their membership cards, Kiwanis pin, and certificate! Not only that, but we also had a potluck! Although very chaotic, it was so nice to see all our members and get to talk to them! We also took our picture for the yearbook!

KIWANIS TOY/FOOD DRIVE

On December 23rd from 9am-1pm at the Bellflower Kiwanis Hall, Kiwanis held a toy drive for the preschool families who were eligible through Caring Connections. We passed out toys and boxes of cans for the holidays. It was super cute to see all the little kids light up with joy when they received their toy. These events make all the service hours and time worth. I am extremely happy I was able to participate in this event.

COZY DCM

It was cold outside on December 17th, so from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Bellflower Kiwanis Hall Key Club members gathered to have a cozy time at Division 13 North’s Cozy DCM! Key Clubbers worked on making cards and different paper trinkets to send to kids in hospital while watching Lilo & Stitch! There were fundraisers for candy as well as a lemonade fundraiser made promptly for the ELIMINATE project. Key Clubbers socialized, made TikToks, and sang at this Carol of a DCM!!!

BKC X MKC KEYRISTMAS

Whats swinging green monkeys!! I’m Leidee Mas and I just joined Key Club this year. On December 22nd at Caruthers Park, we held a Keyristmas event with Bellflower Key Club to celebrate the end of the year. We held a potluck and members brought delicious food such as pizza and pasta. Some played volleyball and some were playing at the park. We also did a small service event and wrote get well cards for those that are sick in the hospital. Towards the end, we played a fun game where you had to open a gift using mittens and the person that opens it wins the item inside. All in all, the event was very fun and I enjoyed hanging out with other members, especially playing volleyball!

ICE-SKATING FUNDRAISER

Hi hi Mayfair Monkeys! On December 23rd from 7:15 PM - 9:15 PM, Mayfair Key Club hosted their annual ice skating fundraiser at Lakewood ICE! The long awaited fundraiser had many jumping for joy and so excited to get on the ice. Once we were there, lots of members, not only from our club, but many other divisions and branches of our kiwanis family came out and enjoyed themselves while ice skating. Even new skaters came out and learned how to glide, while veteran ice skaters were always open to helping them. I’m happy to say that most, if not all, had a great time. We even had some Hamilton fans who started rapping in a circle. Weird? Nope, it’s just the Mayfair Key Club :) I hope everyone else comes to more events to enjoy our Key Club family :D!

ROSE FLOAT

AAAAAA ROSE FLOAT!!!! Rose Float is one of THE biggest key club service events in which key clubbers from all over california are able to assist in decorating the kiwanis float and many others for the Rose Float on TV. This year the event was held on December 30th from 8am-4pm in the city of Irwindale or something. I forgot the town name tbh.. BUT I HAD SO SO SO MUCH FUN THIS YEAR!!!! Some people were on trash duty, others did prep and glued flowers together, some were runners who ran the prep stuff to the people gluing the flowers on the float, and then there was people like myself, who were able to do scaffolding!!! It was very scary at first but after a while you get used to being so high up. At some point after lunch when I was getting back on the float, Angel from bosco shouted at me not to fall and it made me even more scared of falling down T^T I had A LOT of FUN this year and I was able to talk and meet new people from different divisions such as one person named Madison whos a senior at Redondo High School and part of D19S, the bunnies! Overall, it was a super fun event and i can’t wait for next year's Rose Float!
