October has been such a rollercoaster with the Aids walk, field show service event, general meetings, our advisors birthdays and RTC! It has been such a great experience to see dedicated members step up and participate in key club this month:)) I also loved to see our advisors recognized and appreciated for all their dedication and hard work towards this club! What’s peeling mayfair monkeys !!

My name is Penelope Gilmore and I serve as ½ of your historians. This month has been busy with many service events and spirit sessions leading up the biggest region event of the term RTC !! Last year RTC was the first event I ever attended and it is what started my love for key club. So I am super excited to see how this RTC turns out this year and I hope to make more memories with new people.Another big event that I have already attended this month was the annual aids walk. Here I had lots of fun with friends as we definitely did lots of walking and talking while serving.Although we had to wake up early I didn’t mind and enjoyed my experience also getting some free things from booths nearby. Overall this month has been a great month, I got to talk and be with new people in several key club events , and I am sincerely looking forward to what the next few months have in store !!

Club Updates

while preparing for fall rally south , mayfair key club has slowed down a bit to avoid burnout from members! however, we've still consistently provided a service event and a fundraiser for our members to continue to enjoy the fruits on the club level! this includes the csbc field show service event and the monkey headband crafting service event nearing the end of the month ! these events will showcase how much mayfair really serves. let's not forget our ding tea fundraiser (which is going on as i write this)! right across the street and easily accessible, our members have continued to enjoy lovely boba whilst supporting ptp. all in all extending the message that... we love boba.

Spiritseason!

SpiritSession#1

general member,

members from different schools in our Division attended dressed up as their favorite celebrities! The spirit session began with a couple of icebreakers and a few games (OUT THE WINDOW!!!). Then, everyone was divided into groups and learned the cheers from our Division’s Spirit Team! After practicing and PERFECTING the cheers, all groups merged into one, and we performed the cheers together! The first spirit session was an absolute success, and it was super fun dancing and learning the cheers with everyone. Anyway, I hope all of you are looking forward to RTC and FRS !!

SPIRIT SESSION #2

What's Peeling Green Monkey!! My name is Jesus Frausto and I’m a returning member of Mayfair Key Club. On October 14th, 2022 our Division held our 2nd RTC Spirit Session of the term, at Bellflower Kiwanis Hall. We had over 60 members that attended from different schools ready to practice even more on the cheers we've done already. We started the spirit session with some introductions and a game of Poncho for the icebreakers. After the ice breaker, we all split up into 4 groups. Towards the end of the spirit session we all got back into one huge group and performed the cheers together. Then we all stood together for one last time to take our division photo. In my personal opinion I felt that the second spirit went amazingly well, from the icebreakers to our one big group cheer. I am excited and can not wait for RTC and FRS!!

SPIRIT SESSION #3

WHAT'S SWINGING GREEN MONKEYS!!

My name is Isabella Delgado and I recently attended the 3rd Spirit Session for RTC! We started off by breaking into two groups and learning cheers #1 and going over the “How do you feel” cheer! It was really fun jumping around with my friends and it got me even more excited for RTC!! We then joined in one big group and cheered all together. The energy you feel when performing as a big group is SUPER COOL! I was super tired by the end but I also had so much fun!

SPIRIT SESSION #4

MAYFAIR MONKEYS !!! My name is Kaithlyn De Guzman and recently, I attended and taught at our last and final spirit session before RTC, SPIRIT SESSION #4 ! We started the session off with a good old game of “Out the Window” and then later split our members into four groups to go over the “How Do You Feel” and “Remix” cheers, learn new mini cheers, and to go over and perfect our first main cheer ! We then merged our groups all together in the end and performed the cheer all together and can I just say guys… I AM SO PROUD OF US AND OUR MEMBERS ! I love how the members were cheering so loud and proud that it echoed throughout Mayfair ! WOW ! Anyways, this spirit session was such a great one to end out on before the big day ! It was very tiring towards the end but it was very fun ! I thoroughly enjoyed it and also enjoyed teaching our members the cheers ! I can’t wait to perform them at RTC ! Well, THAT’S IT FROM ME FOR NOW GREEN MONKEYS !! <33

WHAT IS SWINGING

REGION TRAINING CONFERENCE

HELLO HELLO KEY CLUB PEOPLE!

RTC was a very fun experience to go to. Different sessions were a fun way to learn about key club and the different ways people can contribute! The first session allowed me to learn about what you do as a president and vice president and what roles you have throughout the club. The second session that I went to allowed me to learn how to have and keep key club spirit, which was really fun. After that, my third session showed me what it is like being a person in key club international and what types of things are brought to you! Winning the spirit stick was a very amazing experience and it truly showed the work that was put into the chants!! RTC allowed me to meet new people from Key Club and what they have experienced while in key club! Overall, an amazing experience!!! general member,

FIELD SHOW SERVICE EVENT

HELLOOOOO GREEN MONKEY!! My name is Caryn Zapon and during the month of October I participated in the 19th Annual CSBC Field Show by being a volunteer to help set up the field show. This service event started early in the morning at 7 am, at Bellflower High School. The thing is that when I got there and started helping it didn’t even feel like I had woken up early to attend the service event. Some of the things we did as volunteers is set up canopies, carry and set up the food stands, put up direction posters all throughout the event, and set up the field for the show! I would say the service event was a success because we helped set up the field show, BUT as volunteers we had fun doing all the tasks. I HOPE MANY MORE PEOPLE SEE HOW FUN OUR SERVICE EVENTS ARE AND COME OUT TO JOIN!!

½ Historian,

AIDS WALK

What’s swinging Mayfair monkeys!! My name is Elizabeth Gilmore and this month I got to participate in the annual region 8 AIDS walk! After a bus ride to West Hollywood we rescued the venue and danced to music, got some free goodies from booths, and listened to speakers talk about aids prevention while we waited for the walk to start. Once the walk got started we got to mingle with key clubbers from other divisions and talk with friends while we walked. It was very tiring but after we reached the finish line we still had time for some playground fun and professional drone footage of our region. Overall it was a very fun experience with lots of music and meeting new people!

Pediatric Trauma Program | DISTRICT

The Kiwanis CNH Foundation recognized a serious need for education and training in the pediatric trauma and injury prevention. From there, the foundation established the Pediatric Trauma Program in 1994. The main goal is to reduce the number of children who are killed or injured by trauma.

Member of the Month

Our October Officer of the Month is Elizabeth Gilmore!! Our wonderful VP was chosen because of the infectious joy she brings to all events she’s attends! She was also chosen because of all the INSANE work she does not only on the club level but also on the division level. Liz does so much and it goes unappreciated sometimes. I’m incredibly proud of her and cannot wait to see where these next couple years take her in her key club journey!

ElizabethGilmore (MediaVP)

Madahlia DeLaCruz is our October Member of the Month!! Even though Madahlia cannot make it to events she wants to come to all the time, she always puts forth the effort to come to the ones she can! Madahlia is a new member and has already shown to not only me but this club that she is willing to put in the work to shine! I hope to see her grow as her key club journey continues!
