Welcome back to my new and improved monthly newsletter! I am so excited to share what we have in store for the next few years I am in the of ce. My newsletter has always been a special project to me.

Since the start of my newsletter, I have been able to share with my supporters and constituents updates on city improvements, my own accolades, and anything in between. Thus, having a newsletter is essential in sharing information with you all!

April is Earth Month and I have some exciting new updates to share. First, there will be upcoming classes held for the community garden that will open up soon.

This is a great way to plant your seed into the city. Also, as a city of many rst, Rialto has just approved Wastewater Microgrid P3 in a unanimous bipartisan vote. You can read more about it here. Lastly, Rialto’s council continues to work on the project to build Lake Rialto.

County Provides Rental AssistanceSan Bernardino County has established an emergency rental assistance program that will disperse more than $46.8 million in rental assistance to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic shutdown. The funds were provided through the federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. For more information and to submit an application to receive assistance, please visit the County’s Rent Relief website or the ISC211 website.

Golden State Stimulus

California will provide the Golden State Stimulus payment to families and people who qualify. This is a one-time $600 or $1,200 payment per tax return.

You may receive this payment if you receive the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) or le with an Individual Taxpayer Identi cation Number (ITIN).

TAKE THE PLEDGE: Water Conservation Program As it has become increasingly clear, the value of water conservation has enormous bene ts to local economies, the environment, and even our global climate. In heavily populated drought-plagued states, the bene ts of conservation are incalculable; by being mindful of water use - even in water abundant states-we have an opportunity to save enormous amounts of energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The bottom line is: water conservation not only bene ts every state in the nation, it bene ts the entire planet.

Let's emphasize, be water-wise and take the pledge today! Mayor Deborah Robertson & City Council Members in reducing the City of Rialto's water consumption and energy usage; and help Rialto win the title of the "Most Water Wise" in the nation.

Faby’s Bees Written by Owen Knapper Jr

There are many endangered species throughout today’s society, from bald eagles to polar bears to leopards and bumblebees. In Rialto, we have noticed that bumblebees are among the most important species in North America and threatened species amongst pollinators, which is why Mayor Deborah Robertson and our Rialto City’s certi ed farmers market are proud supporters of Faby’s bees.

This past week, I have had the opportunity to interview the owners of Faby’s Bees to get an inside look at how the business is run and how it all started. Fabiola Delgado [Owner] informed me that the company all started as her brother was a beekeeper for over 40 years, and she wanted

to give it a try. So she encourages her partner Leo Becerra [Owner] to help her start it. She informed me that they only had 94 bee hives when they rst started, which most would believe is a lot to maintain, but now they have nearly 700 beehives. Each beehive has its very own queen bee, and her job is to lay eggs and produce chemical scents that will help control the unity of the colony. One of their primary duties every week is to check each beehive to ensure no mites, as mites in a beehive will attack the bees, feed on the bees, and make sure the bees are collecting enough nectar to pollinate. As each year, the bees are taken to Bakers eld and Fresno to pollinate the almonds, which is another reason they have to ensure that the bees are collecting enough nectar needed to pollinate those almonds in the month of February and March. fl

Business Highlight;

One of the questions that we're asked during our interview was, What is one of your biggest challenges working in the Honey Bee industry? Fabiola [Owner] stated, “One of the hardest challenges is nding the perfect locations for the beehives within the city of Rialto and San Bernardino that bees can get the nectar from to produce honey.” As I analyze this statement, it revealed to me that they choose to keep the bees in our community, not because this is where they collect the most money from their product which is [Honey], but it is because this is their way of sowing their seed into their community and giving back, and helping our city grow. If you ever have the chance or is interested in trying some of their delicious Honey produce by Bees that live within our community. They are located at 2516 W 3rd Ave, San Bernardino, Ca 92407, or you can nd them at our Rialto Certi ed Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm; and be sure to try one of my favorites which is the wild ower honey as it helps alleviate allergies, and taste great in teas, and smoothies.
