Event Committee For over a year now, a number of dedicated souls have labored hundreds, if not thousands of hours to put together an event that will create memories to last a lifetime. Fundraising efforts, sponsorship coordination, contract negotiations, insurance procurement, advertising and public relations, menu planning, rallye mapping, judges training, instructor recruitment, entertainment planning, donation gathering, goodie bag filling, registration management, cone toting, and countless other chores go on “behind the scenes”, to make events like these come together in an almost seamless fashion. On behalf of all the Mid-America Caravan participants please extend a gracious “Thank You” to everyone involved in putting this event together. Dudley & Joyce Smith John & Donna Ryan Jeff & Denise Klepac, Bob & Martha Poduch, Doyle & Maureen Comfort, David Cummings, Frank and Mary Alice Cozza, Sue Morrison, Christopher Murray, Lin Burney, the Kansas City BMW Club, Kansas City Porsche Club of America and the Audi Club, and the many other members and friends that pulled together to make the Mid-America Caravan a reality. Great Work, Crew!

After spending some time with us, you’re sure to be surprised. You see, our Midwestern paradise is the perfect place to work, live, play, and raise a family. We’ve got all of those great things that make up a thriving metropolis, like professional sports, the arts, history, shopping, and entertainment, without a lot of the fuss that is usually attached. We have neighborhoods, rolling hills, green pastures and wide open spaces instead. Sure we’ve even got crime, but it’s more the Andy Griffith flavor than the NYPD Blue variety. And, we probably move at a slower pace than some, but we haven’t heard any complaints lately. You can be sure that our homes are warm, our hospitality is genuine and our friendships are real. We’re really glad you’re here, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us! Oh, and if you’re looking for the perfect souvenir to take back to the folks at home, consider this. Take our attitudes, outlooks and values home with you, and share them. Start looking at things with a little more wholesome viewpoint. Slow down and enjoy life a bit. You’ll feel good about it, and so will we. We sincerely hope you have a great time at the Mid-America Caravan.

er
53rd St.

The Acceleration Run is a quarter-mile run from a standing start. The object is to complete the distance in the shortest amount of time. Cars are on the drag strip two at a time and given a minimum of three runs.
Time Trials Time Trials are competitive laps on the 2.5 mile full road course. No more than two or three cars are on the track at the same time, usually separated by 45-50 seconds. The procedure consists of a warm-up lap, three consecutive timed laps, and a cool-down lap. To participate in time trials, drivers must have completed the defensive driving and practice runs with a trained in-car instructor. Emphasis is on handling, control, braking, and proper use of the hands and eyes. There are established rules for one car passing another.
