MCADAMS DESIGN For McAdams, the design of outdoor environments is a balance between the owner and their vision; the architect’s design of the buildings and our design team’s ability to interpret those elements and bring creativity to make an authentic place. Our landscape architecture expertise lies in site analysis; planning; programming and concept development; theming; and detailed design of external spaces that shape the way we live and interact with the environment. With our collaborative design process and systems approach, we are able to intentionally integrate the ecological, human, cultural and aesthetic elements of each space in an efficient and resourceful manner and that’s good for our communities.

CASE STUDY PLANNING Great residential communities start with great planning. Our team excels at exterior space planning and early collaboration with the full design team. Working together with the owner team, architects, interior designers and engineers, we work efficiently to get the big picture set correctly before jumping into the details. Often, these early efforts are key in getting project approvals and checking budgets to ensure the project stays on tract. Edgewater is a distinctive community nestled in the woodlands just south of Charlotte, located in growing Indian Land, South Carolina. This community has a resort-like feel from the moment you arrive. Situated at the edge of a beautiful pond, the community offers tree canopied trails, open spaces, a fitness center, outdoor lounge and other amenities that support an active lifestyle. The pool and club experience offers a lagoon-styled pool with sun deck, fire pit, cabanas, outdoor kitchen and expansive deck area for large events. CASE STUDY ELEMENTS OF DESIGN Design is both an art and a science, with a big dose of experience. Our team draws upon the years of designing great communities and amenities while bringing a fresh approach by utilizing the latest technologies, materials and construction techniques. We are driven to deliver buildable solutions resulting in high-performance spaces that provide many years of consistent performance. Hub South End is a vertical, mixed-use development in Charlotte’s highly-coveted South End neighborhood. The project successfully incorporates residential, commercial retail, office, restaurant and resident amenity uses in a relatively small project site. The project uses the industrial historic mill vernacular of the area to create a modern building and site design with a significant, spa-like amenity. Steel, concrete, glass, wood and brick all come together to create a bright and inviting outdoor environment. Client: Ram Real Estate Year Built: 2020 Project Size: 4.36 acres

CASE STUDY VISUALIZATION Designing collaboratively with the full team using threedimensional (3D) tools is embedded in our design process. We believe that using 3D technologies makes our designs easier to understand and experience long before any dirt is turned for construction. This helps get the best designs possible and allows for easier collaboration and feedback during the design process. Fenton is a 92-acre regional mixed-use development located on Cary Towne Boulevard at the interchange with I-40 in Cary, North Carolina. The project will provide a vibrant, high-density, pedestrian- and transit-oriented development directly serving Cary and west Raleigh residents. As a high-profile development hosting office towers, it will also attract visitors from across the greater Research Triangle region. The project includes vertically mixed buildings with residential, office, hotel and retail focused on a pedestrian-friendly main street. Integration with transit is a key measure of this project’s success. The project is located within walking distance of a proposed stop on the future bus rapid transit line connecting Raleigh and Cary, and will provide direct access to the local and regional transit systems. CASE STUDY BOLD IDEAS We strive to create places for great experiences. We know that these environments are vital to the success of projects and, more importantly, provide places for people to aspire to be the best versions of themselves. Providing places that promote community and healthy lifestyles within comfortable settings is what we work hard to do. The River Walk at Central Park in Flower Mound, Texas is a more than 150-acre mixed-use development that includes residential, medical, hotel, commercial, restaurant and public components surrounding a nearly mile-long, man-made water feature as a focal point. This project involved over 20 public meetings / presentations to navigate through the Town’s complex approval process and to essentially create a new mixed-use zoning classification for the Town. Our team’s landscape architecture services included design of the streetscapes, public access ways and linear landscape adjacent to the river. Our team was selected to provide the civil and landscape designs for several of the individual sites in The River Walk at Central Park, including the Texas Oncology building, River Walk Medical Plaza, Marriott Hotel, River Walk Apartments, River Walk Villas and Parkmont Townhomes.
