Whether you’re an entrepreneur, engineer, designer or inventor, MCC offers an open-access, cutting-edge facility to allow you to visualize, develop and create just about anything you can imagine. Located in the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology, the PROTO Design Lab is a 9600 square-foot facility that features state-of-the-art metal and woodworking labs plus more. Technicians are available to help you get started with all aspects of your projects including design, file generation and machine operation. Participants are required to take a short safety course before using equipment, but once completed, they will have full access to all software and equipment. Free equipment training is offered to all participants. Open lab hours may vary depending on MCC closures. Currently, the lab is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Material and supplies are an additional charge.

Experiment with our 3D printers, laser cutters, plasma cutter, CNC routers, a vinyl cutter, 3D scanners, an embroidery machine, milling machines, painting and finishing machines and a full wood and metal working lab with technician available for assistance. RAPID IT EMPLOYMENT ACADEMY This January marks the launch of the Rapid IT Employment Academy at MCC IT Express located at the Ashton Building in Millwork Commons. A grant award through the U.S. Department of Labor funds this comprehensive learning program, which infuses IT certification training with work-based learning leading to high-demand employment opportunities. The Rapid IT Employment Academy offers a stacked credential learning pathway leading to the CompTIA A+ certification and Google IT Professional Certificates. In the program, students will learn how to configure, troubleshoot, repair and provide support to computer hardware and software, including performing data security and administering cloud-based (SaaS) software. Participants will learn over 12 or 16 weeks in a hybrid-learning model blending weekly live instruction and asynchronous online learning. Upon successful completion of the Academy, students can obtain employment in IT-enabled careers such as Desktop Support Specialist, Help Desk Technician and Computer Network Support Specialist. The Nebraska Department of Labor projects a 15.57 percent employment increase in the Omaha metropolitan area through 2026 with an average annual wage of $51,490. The program is no cost to individuals who meet grant eligibility requirements. Eligible participants must be 17 or older, not be currently enrolled in high school and must be considered unemployed, employed part-time or underemployed by definition of the U.S. Department of Labor.

An automatic refund is made if MCC cancels a class. To withdraw your registration before a class starts, please call 531-MCC-5231. Refunds will be issued to students who drop a class at least one business day (seven days for tours prior to the class start date. No refunds will be issued for classes dropped on or after the class start date. Refunds for international travel experiences vary. Specific terms and conditions will be listed on the travel packet for that international experience.
