MEET THE TEAM: JAMS GOAT YOGA
JAMS Goat Yoga came about at the wake of our beloved mother, who loved family gatherings. We wanted to do something to honor her, and she would be overjoyed with the thought of us working together. JAMS is a combination of our names; Jessica, Art and Michelle Swoboda. We started taking beginner's yoga classes through MCC to see which poses would work best for our business. With little or no knowledge on starting a business, we turned to MCC and took a Business Startup Class. The instructor was an experienced business owner, who walked the class through almost every aspect of starting up a business, company name, insurance and advertising, to name a few. Without the help of MCC, our business would have never been as successful as it is.

CORPORATE TRAINING
Inside the Workforce Innovation Division (WID) is a collaborative group of people working together to help prepare workers of the future. WID works directly with businesses to design, develop and deliver training that aligns with business and industry needs. The goal of corporate training is to enable businesses and individuals to hone and develop essential knowledge and skill sets, fostering both their professional and personal progress. Corporate training focuses on outcomes that apply directly to a business context and allows participants to apply learning in the workplace. This may include training for onboarding new hires, upskilling, reskilling current employees or delivering training specific to a particular topic. Corporate training services often vary from business from business. MCC is a qualified institution, eligible to provide scholarship and grant funding for workforce training. For employers seeking to train employees, funding may be available for incumbent work training. Do you have just a few individuals with specific needs? It's possible for you to register employees in training sessions that include participants from a variety of businesses. Combined enrollment often provides a rich experience for participants, as they benefit from learning about how skills may apply in other contexts. DIGITAL BADGING Many of the WID offerings provide digital badges for your professional portfolio. Contact corporatetraining@mccneb.edu for more information.
What is Digital Badging?
A digital badge is an indicator of accomplishment or skill that can be displayed, accessed and verified online – a digital credential. Badges are issued based on established criteria for what must be done to earn the badge. When a digital badge is displayed online, clicking the image provides a description of the skill demonstrated and the criteria used to measure it.
Why do digital badges matter?
A digital badge is important because it represents a credential or verified evidence of skill. Demonstration of these discrete skills is not dependent on completion of a degree, so a digital badge can be used to support and verify specific skills and abilities required for employment, advancement in your career or other purposes.
What does a Digital Badge look like?
The level of a digital badge issued by Metropolitan Community College is determined through a review of the learning experience. A digital badge is aligned to one of four digital badge images that represent the level of challenge or complexity of the demonstrated skill.
