HHCC buzz Thanks for the mention! Keep sharing your experiences and tag Holston Hills Country Club for a chance to be featured.

Emerald Youth Foundation Golfpixdaily holston hills country club knoxville, tn hole # 18 (par 5 - 521 yards) designed in 1927 by the great donald ross @holstonhills is a venerable golden age club and regarded as one of the best courses in the state of Tennessee. I played holston last year with my dad and my wife’s uncle—way before starting this account ever crossed my mind—so taking pictures wasn’t a high priority. All i ended up with from that day was this quick shot, but with family ties in the area I’m sure I’ll be back to this special course soon.

Thanks to all the sponsors, players, and volunteers who made the Rick Barnes Emerald Youth Golf Classic presented by UT Medical Center a huge success! We had a great time at Holston Hills Country Club raising funds for the youth of our city.

Add other ingredients and back at 350 for 25 min, add fried onions and bake for 10 more minutes.

This Newsletters recipe is works with Green Bean Casserole. Green Bean Casserole is my favorite dish for Thanksgiving. The key is making the cream of mushroom soup from scratch and a variety of mushrooms. I hope you enjoy the recipe for Cream of Mushroom Soup. ~Patrick Budniewski, Executive Chef

HOLSTON HILLS INVITATIONAL The 31st Holston Hills Invitational was held in October for the first time ever, and it was one for the ages. At one point late in the back 9 on the final day there were 7 people tied or within 1 shot of the lead, with 5 of them being, Holston Hills members! After 54-holes we had a 4-way playoff consisting of three members (Todd Burgan, Tanner Davis, and Jake Mynatt) and Cooper Collins. With sunlight fading fast, Burgan and Davis were eliminated after the first playoff hole (#18), which left Jake Mynatt and Cooper Collins. Jake Mynatt a Holston Hills member since 2013 and a collegiate player at Carson-Newman University. And Cooper Collins, a collegiate player from Morehead State University, to battle it out for the championship. The playoff went to #11 where Mynatt got up and down to save par and Collins two putted to tie him. At this point the two competitors were brought together and agreed that they would play #11 one more time as it was fairly dark already. With Mynatt about 10 feet away for birdie, Collins chipped up to a couple feet and tapped in his par, setting the stage for Mynatt to take the solo crown. His putt scraped the left side of the hole, but did not go in making him and Collins, for the first time in the history of the Holston Hills Invitational, Co-Champions. ~ Written by: Joey Batuello, PGA I Assistant HHCC Golf Professional

TURF TALK

FROSTY MORNING PUTTING SURFACE CONDITIONS As everyone knows with the cold weather of winter approaching frost will soon be falling. No one likes to get to the golf shop to find that they have to wait on a frost delay but it comes with the season. Walking or mowing over frost can causes severe turf damage or death if done under the right conditions. On frosty mornings we monitor the status of the putting surfaces and try to make our best guess as to when the frost will be burned off from the sun. Once this has occurred we still have to have time to get all the putting surfaces mowed and cups changed before play begins. We prep the course as fast as we can with two people to change cups and 6 people to mow. This course prep takes on average about 2 hours. We do our best to stay ahead of play each day but on frosty mornings this can be a challenge. We do have some putting surfaces that hold a frost a lot longer than others due to tree cover or their topography. You might not see frost on the putting green at 9:00am but some surfaces like 6, 14, or 12 might still be covered. Please bear with us as we work to get everyone out on the course as soon as we possibly can. The best way to keep informed of daily frost delays or any other delays on the course would be thru the Club web page and the daily conditions. This information is updated daily with current course conditions.

MAIN RANGE TEES WINTER POLICY This Fall and winter we are again going to allow play from the grass surfaces on the main range tees. The tees have been seeded with Ryegrass for the winter months and will provide another option for those wishing to practice in the afternoon or warm up prior to round of golf. Due keep in mind that with our limited teeing area we will still to have limit the amount of days we can play from the grass. On certain days during the week we will still use the artificial surfaces for daily play. We might also have to use the artificial surfaces on some mornings due to frost. ~ Ryan Blair, Certified Golf Course Superintendent
