"A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, a slight breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, the ducks are swimming in the pool, the kids club campers are enjoying yoga and the golfers are making birdies!" Happy Summer! Over the past two months (May and June), we welcomed 19 new members, to the Holston Hills Country Club and McConnell Golf families. LETTER FROM CHEF

The summer season is in full swing From beautiful days on the golf course to the pool filled with families to seeing all the kids in junior tennis and golf camps to music on the patio for couples golf There is a lot going on around the club. We have also had three weddings out here in June. One being for the Bramhall's, members of HHCC. Wishing them a Congratulations & Best Wishes!

We hope everyone has been enjoying the season so far Coming up we have our July 4th cookout and some FUN games for the kiddos, which is always a crowd pleaser There are some new tennis events planned for July: Corks & Courts and our Wimbledon Breakfast, excited to try new ideas and events. Stay tuned to the HHCC website and the HHCC Weekly Happenings for more details on these new events

Also, if you haven't attend a Women’s Wine Wednesday event, please ask about it We have been able to involved but Golf and Tennis, as well as WINE! This monthly addition has been a fun time for all involved.

The recipe from Chef is a nice Fruited Salsa. During the summer time I love fresh peaches and strawberries and they both balance well to heat The recipe is a Strawberry-Peach Salsa using fresh Jalapenos and some Chipotle Peppers too Eat this salsa with chips, in a taco, or just spooned over a grilled chicken breast with some roasted sweet potatoes. Its light and flavorful, perfect for a summer cookout.

INGREDIENTS:

2lbStrawberries,stemmed

4FreshPeaches,skinnedandhalved

1Jalapeno,seededanddiced

1ChipotlePepperinAdobo

2TSPAdoboSauce

½TBSPCilantro,chopped

2TBSPWhiteBalsamicVinegar

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

1TSPKosherSalt

½TSPGroundBlackPepper

¼TSPGroundCumin

½TSPGroundCoriander

1TBSPExtravirginoliveoil

Wash the Strawberries and remove the stem. Quarter the strawberries length wise and cut those quarters in half Remove the skin of the Peaches and dice and put in bowl with strawberries

Add in the Diced Jalapeno and Chopped Chipotle Pepper

Stir in the Balsamic Vinegar, Cilantro, Adobo Sauce, and Spices

Let Sit for 15 min at room temperature stirring occasionally. Drizzle with a extra virgin olive oil and give one final stir. Store in air tight container for up to 4 days.

Take in professional tennis with fellow McConnell Golf members at the ATP Tour’s Winston-Salem Open. Tickets are good for both the stadium court and outside courts from 2pm until the last match is completed. McConnell Golf will have its own red zone parking lot area with tents and tables. MESSAGE FROM OUR TENNIS DIRECTOR...

We are off to a fantastic start to our tennis season here at the club. The courts are better than ever, and we have had some great events with many more to come It will be two years as your Tennis Director as of July 1st, and I just want to thank each and every one of you for making my time here so special I have truly loved working with you all out on the courts. Here are a couple of reminders and announcements for Holston Hills Tennis:

We have officially introduced UTR (Universal Tennis) to Holston Hills CC We will be holding tournaments and match-play opportunities throughout the year These will be both junior and adult events If you would like to get involved please reach out to me and I will help get you started! We have two junior events already scheduled for July 1st and July 18th.

As always, I would like to remind everyone to please use our court reservation system through the website or the McConnell Golf app as it helps me track our growth If you need a quick refresher stop by office or swing by the courts and I'll show you how the system works.

Finally, I know it's pool season and I encourage all of you to come out and enjoy the pool this summer However, please remember that Tennis and Pool attire are very different! Please refrain from using the Tennis courts without proper shoes and clothing Bathing suits, sandals, flip flops, and bare feet are not permitted on the Tennis courts.

We are busy in and around the Kids' Club, from Kid’s Night Outs to Summer Camps to Club Cubs to Fun pool activities, we are trying to keep all our kiddos busy and having a Summer they won't forget! The FUNdamental Golf Camp is geared for juniors ages 7-10 and welcomes golfers of all levels of experience and skill! This fourday experience will help your junior to improve all aspects of his or her game, including driving, irons, chipping, pitching, bunkers, rules, etiquette, and an introduction to our Elite Operation 36 Program During the camp, the instructors will encourage your junior to set goals while also understanding the commitment it takes in order to see improvement We will incorporate some fun games and popsicles!

**Extended Care is available from 12:00-4:00 pm for $30 a day, this includes lunch ONLY for those attending aftercare

This three-day intensive is focused on youth who have a solid understanding of the basics of tennis and are able to rally. Geared towards older youth, this intensive will be focused on preparing players to be match-play ready.

**Extended Care is available from 12:00-4:00 pm for $30 a day, this includes lunch ONLY for those attending aftercare.

TENNIS TOTS CAMP

The Tennis Tots camp is primarily focused on the kids learning the basics and fun of the sport of tennis There will be hand-eye coordination, footwork, and mechanic drills as well as lots of games and goofy activities.

All swimmers must wear appropriate swimming attire Cut-offs, Dungarees, Bermuda shorts, String bikinis and Cheekys are not considered appropriate swimwear. 1.

Proper non- swimwear or cover-ups and sandals are required at all times in the Clubhouse and on the outside patio areas Nude or topless sunbathing is expressly prohibited

A little about Gigi Sliger, founder and CEO of The Kid Creator, LLC, an education site with content and products for parents raising creative kids She also is a content creator and marketer for small businesses and non profits, creating written and digital art content for courses A certified yoga teacher, she has wrote and taught a kids yoga curriculum for a local preschool, summer camps, and the non profit, Girls Incorporated.

Buddy pass group training focuses on total body workouts Workouts can be tailored to different aspects such as strength, endurance, cardiovascular training! Workouts will include machine work, bands, dumbbells, and body weight exercises.
