Ryan had previously been at Porters Neck CC, where he created a thriving junior golf program and assisted greatly with women ’ s golf. We are thrilled to have him rejoin our team!

New rubber flooring is scheduled to be installed, the 3rd week of July. The fitness center will be closed for that week, but our plan is to have the outdoor fitness area available as an option We currently are waiting for delivery of the fitness equipment along with some final touches for this space to be finished

National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame

Finishing in 2nd place in the Legends Division of the 2024 National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame Tournament was Porters Neck member, Jerry Horton, with rounds of 7475-77= 226 The 2024 National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame was a multiday event held Tuesday, June 4 through Friday, June 7 The tournament was held at Willow Creek Course at High Point CC in High Point, NC Congratulations!!

COOKIE OF THE MONTH Peach Cobbler Cookie

Recipe by Ron Gordils

Ingredients

Thank you to Ron Gordils Executive Chef at Sedgefield Country Club, for sharing his recipe with us! This is what he had to say. "Experience the essence of summer with this Peach Cobbler Cookie Picture golden rays kissing your skin as you savor the warmth of juicy peaches mingling with sweet, crumbly perfection Indulge in a seasonal delight that captures the lazy, hazy days of summertime in every delicious bite "

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup chopped peeled fresh peaches

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and extracts. In another bowl, whisk flour, cinnamon, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in peaches.

1. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake until set, 14-16 minutes Cool on pans 2 minutes Remove to wire racks to cool completely Store in an airtight container

Our new golf cart fleet along with GPS distance technology, has arrived! The system works off satellite communication and allows us to integrate with our EzLocator program for exact hole locations It also allows us to monitor pace of play and communicate with carts individually We are still in the process of programming restricted areas, but the screen will notify you when you are approaching or in a restricted area and how to proceed There will be other features that we plan on adding in the future and will continue to communicate any adjustments that we make If you have any questions about the carts and GPS system, please don’t hesitate to speak with our pro shop

The Pro Shop will be open on Thursday and Friday with modified hours Thursday 9am – 3pm | Friday 11am – 5pm

It is that time of the year to start making plans for the 2024 Men’s Member-Guest Tournament The tournament will be held Thursday, September 12th through Saturday, September 14th

Tournament entries will be taken through our Club website only Entries will be accepted starting June 15th Members will need go to September 12th on the calendar and register as you do any other event at the Club

The field will consist of 60 teams If registrations exceed 60, we will have a lottery draw of names Last year ’ s winning team and members that were on the 2023 waitlist that did not get into the event, will automatically be included in the field Once these members are verified, we will draw for the appropriate number of names to reach a field of 60 and to determine the waitlist order

This event is open to Full Members only and their invited guests

The entry fee for 2024 will be: $1350 entry fee (per team) A $200 (per team) optional competition fee (flight pool) will be available at sign-in for those interested teams As soon as names are drawn, the member account will be billed a $200 deposit $575 will be billed on July 15 and again on August 15 Any cancelation after September 1st, will be billed a $400 cancelation fee

Your PNCC Golf and F&B staff are working hard to plan a first-class event The 2024 Men’s Member-Guest event will continue to be the premier golf and social event of the year at Porters Neck Country Club

Congratulations to Dominick Fiordimalva and Richard Formo! Our 2024 Men's Member-Member Champions, Dominick and Richard shot net 66 both days for a total of 12 under par for 2 days! Great playing! Congratulations!

We paid out daily low gross and net winners, closest to pins each day and we had a skins pool each day Lots of ways to get a piece of the action After the tournament, we took the top 12 teams and had a shootout on the short course for a few extra bucks We played all 4 holes, eliminating teams as we went until we got to the final 2 team on last hole Father and son duo of James & Hudson Steed came out as the winners

The hot weather is here! Please be prepared for the heat Drink plenty of water before and during your round Wear light colored clothing, wear a cap and preferably a wide brimmed hat, use plenty of sunscreen and use plenty of good judgment while playing If you or a partner starts to feel bad, do not wait, and please come off the course immediately and get into some AC

The standings change weekly and can be found on Golf Genius

IntracoastalMatchCup

To qualify- you pick a day that you want to qualify. Tell the pro shop you ’ re qualifying that day and at the end of the round turn in your scorecard. Must have a witness and turn in gross score. Pro shop will compare your card against par. Match play. If you make the team, you will be notified 3-4 days before the match.

13 people on the team. 12 members and one pro. Match- two-man teams with the better net ball per hole. Three points per match. Front nine, back nine and total. There is also a separate match of 4-man teams best two nets per hole for prize money.

Cost is between $60-$70. This includes golf, cart, lunch and one third of the field gets pro shop credit at the club they are playing.

If you win your match, you automatically qualify for the next match.

HazardousWeatherPolicy

In the event of hazardous weather conditions, it is the responsibility of individual golfers to decide whether or not to continue play Players should consider the predicted weather conditions and information they may get from the Pro Shop

We encourage players to “Put Your Personal Safety First!” The course restroom shelters on Holes 6 and 13 are equipped with lightning rod protection and offer a safe haven for players who suspend play in their vicinity

During Club sponsored events, including MGA and LGA events, the Pro Shop will suspend play if it believes players’ safety may be jeopardized by hazardous weather During Club events players will be notified as follows:

Discontinuance of Play for Dangerous Situation:

A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signaled by 1 long air horn blast All play shall cease immediately upon notification All practice areas will be closed during suspension of play until committee has declared them open

Resumption of Play:

Signaled by 2 short consecutive horn blasts

Get a head start on the Step Challenge each week with a walk on the cart path Meet Samantha at the Sports Center at 8:30AM on Mondays in July for a warmup and then head out for a walk! Post walk stretching back at the Sports Center

Join our Fitness Intern Samantha in the month of July for a 4 week step challenge The challenge begins on Monday, July 1st, each week there will be a goal for the number of steps to achieve every day The number of steps will increase each week, if a participant does not reach the goal one week, they can try again the next!

If you do not have a fitness device to count your steps we have them for you! Come see Samantha at the sports center before July 1st to enter the Challenge.

Raffle tickets will be earned at the end of each week for a drawing on July 29th. There will also be a prize for the participant who has walked the most steps overall!

We will cover all aspects of the game including putting, chipping, pitching, driving as well as some course management situations for more experienced junior players. Also, out of the 9 Saturdays between June 12th - August 14th, we will schedule 4 of them for a team game competition to apply what they learn to the golf course.
