GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE
As summer comes to a close, let’s look at what transpired these last two months… Events and Activities
As we look back on July and August, one word comes to mind…rain. This rain really put a damper on certain events, especially the pool, but we pushed through with an optimistic mindset. In beginning of July, our swim team Treyburn Tide, wrapped up their season and finished 1st place so once again, kudos to them! We hosted Ladies’ Solheim Cup again which is always a fantastic event I love seeing all the ladies come together from all of McConnell Golf clubs and compete to see who takes home the trophy to their respective club Congratulations to Old North State Club on winning as Treyburn will look to bring that trophy back next year! Impressive play all around and a really well put together event from Ryan and my F&B team. For some who may not know, we also hosted the North Carolina Golf Panel who judges courses and ranks them on a yearly basis so we love to showcase what our course offers and should be moving up the rankings! Cooking classes, pool parties, baby showers, sorority retreat…just to name a few of our delightful events that Ashley coordinated for members We partnered with Copper Cane Wine and did a phenomenal 5-course wine dinner that Executive Chef Sean, and Sous Chef Ethan, absolutely knocked out of the park Each course was paired with the perfect wine that really brought that whole dinner together and we look forward to doing more of those in the future.
Renovations and Projects
As most of our renovations for this year have already taken place, we begin to plan for 2025 as there is still a lot of be done to bring Treyburn to where I want it to be. My team and I are always looking to improve the member experience so along with improvements next year, we’re also putting our heads together to see where we can enhance the member experience More to come on this as the year unfolds
Looking Forward
As we all know, September and October are extremely busy from events/activities, and the golf side as we start to see some fall weather moving in. We have some monumental events in golf with the wonderful Gallagher Tournament, in memory of David Gallagher, which is always a fun time to reflect on what our long-standing members have done for this club In October, we have our highly anticipated 33rd Annual Men’s Member-Guest which has even more buzz than last year’s I know Ryan and his team have been working diligently on ensuring this year’s program will be another success and we look forward to seeing everyone for that. We also look forward to seeing who emerges victorious from the Treyburn Pro-Am later in October I know Ashley narrowed down a date to reschedule our movies on the green night so stay tuned for that She is also in the works for planning something around Halloween to have a fun, spooky activity for you to enjoy!
Last Four Months of 2024
As we continue to have a wonderful year, these next few months will be critical for us The club continues to shine bright and it’s all thanks to our members continuing to support our vision of a prospering club We appreciate everyone’s support more than you know and we always welcome anyone’s input on how we can improve. It will be an ever-revolving door on things we can improve upon and all feedback is welcomed
Again, I want to express our gratitude to all for continued support in the club and the mountain we’re climbing We all play a role in how this club performs and it has been awe-inspiring to see changes unfold before our eyes One thing will never change, our commitment to seeing continued prosperity, and advancement, for the betterment of Treyburn Country Club. Once more, my office is always open if anyone cares to chat!
With gratitude, Michael Powell

TREYBURN GOLF NEWS
Fall is only a few weeks away. The Golf Course is in great condition following the August aerification. Mark Snell and his team have continued to resod some much needed areas As you play, please be mindful of the signs and ropes directing you around these areas. Please remember that golfers play a huge roll in keeping the course in such great condition. Filling your divots in the fairways with the sand provided for all golfers on their carts, fixing ball marks on the green complexes and raking bunkers after using them are vital in giving golfers a pleasant experience. Lastly, when driving a golf cart during your round we ask that carts remain on the path on all par 3’s, around tee boxes & within 50 yards of the greens. The Treyburn Staff and those playing after your round greatly appreciate you doing your part in keeping the course in great condition!
The Fall Golf Calendar is filled with events and player development programs The Junior Operation 36 Program begins on September 13th Clinics for this program will be held every Wednesday (excluding October 4th) from 5:00pm to 6:00pm Male members looking for instruction will be excited to hear that the Treyburn Professional Staff will holding Men’s Clinics from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursdays throughout September The event schedules for September and October are highlighted by the Gallagher Treyburn Memorial on September 15th, the Senior Men’s, Ladies & Junior Club Championships on September 16th & 17th, the TMGA 50/50 Tournament on September 30th & the 32nd Annual Men’s Member-Guest Invitational on October 5th-7th. Best, Ryan Vance, PGA Director of Golf Treyburn Country Club
A Friendly Rule Reminder:
Golfers have a big impact on the amount of turf coverage and performance of practice range tees. How one practices not only influences how much turf is removed with each swing, but also how quickly the turf will recover The three most common divot patterns – scattered, concentrated and linear – can be seen in the photo
A scattered divot pattern removes the most amount of turf because a full divot is removed with every swing. Scattering divots results in the most turf loss and uses up the largest area of a tee stall This forces the golf facility to rotate tee stalls most frequently and often results in an inefficient use of the tee
A concentrated divot pattern removes all turf in a given area. While this approach does not necessarily result in a full-sized divot removed with every swing, by creating a large void in the turf canopy there is little opportunity for timely turf recovery
The linear divot pattern involves placing each shot directly behind the previous divot. In so doing, a linear pattern is created and only a small amount of turf is removed with each swing This can usually be done for 15 to 20 shots before moving sideways to create a new line of divots So long as a minimum of 4 inches of live turf is preserved between strips of divots, the turf will recover quickly. Because this divot pattern removes the least amount of turf and promotes quick recovery, it is the preferred method. -Published on the USGA website By Ty A McClellan
