Beach to Beach, and beyond
Deniliquin
Its renowned as a haven for water sports, but for those looking for a more relaxed activity the Beach to Beach Walk is the perfect vantage point to take in this wonderful natural water course.
Under water for the latter part of 2022 during flood, the walk re-opened in 2023 and allows you to meander at your own pace – whether you’re on foot or two wheels (or more).
Join the trail at McLean Beach, walking along the footpath past towering red gums and quiet inlets.
You can make a quick detour to the Deniliquin and District Historical Society museum, then look out for the striking ‘Ute on a Pole’ sculpture, which is a tribute to the famous Deni Ute Muster.
The walk continues on past the Deniliquin CBD and the Peppin Heritage Centre to the Island Sanctuary - four hectares of preserved bushland that’s home to kangaroos,
plenty of birds and other unique native flora and fauna.
You’ll then enter the Murray Valley Regional Park via Memorial Park, before finishing the trail at Willoughby’s Beach.
You can cover the whole walk in less than an hour or tackle it in sections, leaving plenty of time for swimming and exploring.
If you want to explore further, bush trails continue through the Murray Valley Regional Park.
The same walking trails are home to the Deniliquin mountain bike trails. Accessed via the Willoughby’s Beach park entrance or by Packenham St, you can choose from three loop trails. The shortest is just 7.6km, or try a longer 12km or 15km loop.
Expect lots of turns and log rollovers as you cover mostly flat terrain, with some gentle hills and one steep descent.

EXTRAVAGANZA Deniliquin’s Easter
Already popular with visitors at Easter because of the ideal water sports conditions, Deniliquin and district really puts on a show for the annual holiday.
You can explore a veritable array of arts and cultural events, sporting pursuits and more – or just enjoy the beautiful weather, shopping and the outdoor spaces at your disposal in this amazing community.
A number of individual events come under the umbrella of Easter Fest in the Edward River Council region each year.
We’ll explore some of these in detail in the coming pages, but it would be remiss of us not to provide you with an overall snapshot of the long weekend in store.
Think live music, art exhibitions and market, tennis and bowls tournaments, and twilight rodeo under the stars and even football and netball matches to devour at your leisure.
Now tradition, the South West Music Regional Conservatorium will again host a special children’s concert during the weekend, and our talented local youth musicians will also get their chance to put on a show with the now annual Battle of the Bands.
On the arts front is the long-running Rotary Easter Art Show – a collaboration between Deniliquin Rotary, Edward River Art Society and artists from all over the district.
Complementing this exhibition, which is conveniently located in the heart of the Deniliquin CBD, will be Edward River Council’s annual Art Out Market in the Deniliquin Waring Gardens.
On the sporting front you have the traditional Good Friday football and netball matches, the Deniliquin Rodeo Under the Stars, the Western Riverina Tennis Championships and Easter bowls tournaments. And not too far away in Mathoura, you also have the Mathoura Easter Fair on Easter Saturday.
All rolled in to one weekend, Deniliquin and district becomes a mecca for visitors and locals alike who want to take the long weekend to relax and make memories.
Book your accommodation or camping site and come join us for another big Easter.

Take to the Deni streets
There will be music, stalls, fun activities and much more at the ‘Do It In Deni’ Street Bazaar on Saturday, March 11.
Part of Cressy St will be closed to traffic between Napier and Edwardes Sts, and adjacent the Deniliquin Waring Gardens, allowing those attending to peruse local shops and enjoy the activities on offer at their own leisure.
The family friendly event will showcase and celebrate Deni’s local businesses and services and will run from 9am to noon.
The jam-packed event is a great way to spend time together with family and friends, with something to interest everyone.
There will be food vans on site for all the foodies, or you can purchase from your favourite local eateries located in the CBD.
Stores will trade, and there will also be street stalls and children’s activities.
Drop by one of the stalls to learn more about local groups and services.
Entertainment will be covered by local musicians attached to the South West Music Regional Conservatorium.
They will take up busking positions throughout the Deniliquin CBD.
Complementing the event will be the monthly Naponda Farmers Market, just at the end of the block running along the front of Cressy St.
And make sure to gather in the adjacent Waring Gardens from 10am for the annual running of the Deni Dachshund Dash.
Sausage dogs from across the region will go headto-head, with a locally designed trophy and bragging rights up for grabs.
DENI’S TOWN GARAGE SALE
Attention all pickers, hoarders, scalpers, and sorters - the Deniliquin Town Garage Sale is back on Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12.
For bargain hunters, there will never be a better occasion to turn trash to treasure, empty your wallets, and support your community.
The event is organised by the Deniliquin Pastoral Times, in partnership with the Deniliquin Business Chamber.
All homes registered as taking part in the sale will be added to a handy map for bargain hunters to use - so you don’t miss a single sale.
The map will be printed in the Friday, March 10 edition of the Deniliquin Pastoral Times newspaper. Participating homes can also be easily identified by signage and decorative red balloons, which are included in the registration pack.
Happy shopping!

RODEO ACTION Thrills and spills
Your Easter Saturday entertainment in Deniliquin is sorted.
The Deniliquin Rodeo committee is putting on a thrills and spills spectacular at their arena on Racecourse Rd, Deniliquin.
With the JBS Open Bull Ride offering a prize of $2500 and the Lionel Sweeney Memorial Feature Saddle Bronc Ride carrying a purse of $2000, the best riders from across the country will be headed to Deniliquin for the chance to claim the spoils.
And that means putting in a no-holds-barred performance for the Deniliquin crowd.
Add to that the steer wrestling, roping, open bare back broncs and the junior ladies and barrel racing, you’ll be glued to your seats.
But that’s still not all.
A tradition at the Deniliquin Rodeo is the Pub Steer Ride Challenge.
Sponsored this year by the Couch House Hotel Deniliquin, amateur riders compete on specially selected steers in the rodeo arena.
Like with the traditional bull ride, the riders must stay on for a set period to have a chance at winning.
Each competing on behalf of a local establishment, who will come out on top this year?
And if the action in the rodeo arena is not enough to whet your appetite, there’ll be plenty going on at the sidelines too.
Food stalls, trade sites, a mechanical bull and a licensed bar (no BYO allowed) add to the evening.
The family friendly entertainment gets underway in the afternoon with heats, and live music from Deniliquin band Zara Lindeman and The Smoking Gun from 3pm.
The most competitive action then starts from 5pm. Competition will span well into the evening, but then you’re invited to join the Deniliquin Rodeo committee at Deniliquin’s White Lion Hotel for the afterparty. Getting to and from the rodeo arena from town will be a breeze thanks to the courtesy bus provided by Dysons, or make it even easier on yourself and speak to the event organisers about free on-site camping.
For more details about the bus timetable and the event, like ‘Deniliquin Rodeo’ on Facebook.

30th anniversary Art Show
The team behind the Rotary Easter Art ShowDeniliquin Rotary and the Edward River Art Societywill make it a true showcase, with plans to incorporate new prize categories and live music.
And for the first time, the demonstrating artist will actually be a collection of various artists past and present - the local indigenous community.
ERAS president Louise Graham said they could not let the 30th anniversary show pass without planning “something different”.
“With it being a milestone year, we started thinking about what we could do that’s special,” she said. “It is out 30th anniversary show, so we want to make it fabulous for everyone
“The idea is to better involve our youth and indigenous groups, so we have been collaborating with Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre in regards to demonstrating artists.
“We’ve talked about weaving workshops and perhaps a showcase of artefacts, with indigenous community members on hand to offer explanations.
“They will have their own space and there may even be other activities.”
To better engage youth artists, ERAS has included a youth prize to the Art Show for the first time. It is open to artists aged 12-18 with $350 for first prize and $150 for second.
Another new prize category this year will expand on the sculpture category, which has been gaining in popularity.
The section has been predominantly populated by metal sculptures in recent years, but Mrs Graham said there are so many other forms of art that could be including in the new 3D freestanding artworks category.
A large artworks category has also been introduced, which may see the art show require a second venue
for the overspill of art not able to fit into the Deniliquin Multi Arts Centre.
Mrs Graham said returning after being introduced last year is the local scene art category, which she said appeals to buyers and also makes people think about our region in different ways.
The Rotary Easter Art Show, as always, will open with a gala evening on Thursday, April 6. The show will then open to the public from Good Friday, April 7 to Easter Monday, April 10.
The talents of district artists has been a centrepiece of Easter in Deniliquin for three decades now, and that will be celebrated in fantastic fashion this year.

NEW AT THe DepOT Ampol’s Golden Fleece collection
Motoring enthusiasts are in for a treat with a new exhibit at The Depot Historic Vehicle and Memorabilia Collection in Deniliquin.
An agreement with Ampol has allowed the display of the company’s extensive collection of Golden Fleece items for the first time, which offers a unique look at Australia’s motoring history.
Named after the Golden Fleece service station brand (which became part of the greater Ampol Caltex group in the 80s), the 450-piece collection will provide the public with an exciting opportunity to view the entire collection in one location.
A fully restored 1948 Fargo fuel tanker is a highlight of the collection and will be at home in The Depot’s purpose-built space. The diverse collection also includes items such as model cars, funnels, indoor and outdoor signage, bowsers and fuel tins. The nostalgic will enjoy looking back on road maps, menus, and other paraphernalia.
Originally a private collection, Ampol purchased the Golden Fleece memorabilia in 2018 with a plan to showcase it to the public. The Depot was the obvious choice to host the display. It’s part of the Purtill Group, an Ampol distributor with more than 70 years of involvement with the transport and fuel industry.
“We’re thrilled to have collaborated with Ampol on the display of this fantastic Golden Fleece collection,” said Managing Director Neville Purtill. “It’s an honour to be entrusted with the care of these unique and important pieces of Australian history.”
“Getting collections out of dusty sheds for the public to enjoy has been our dream all along. Stories are best shared and visitors love stepping back 30, 40 and 50 years in time,” Mr Purtill continued.
The purpose-built facility is already home to a significant collection of local and overseas vehicles, with the Golden Fleece collection another drawcard for those keen to learn more about Australia’s motoring past. The site also provides a safe location for the memorabilia so it can be enjoyed for years to come.
The unveiling of the collection is timed to coincide with the 2023 Ampol Distributor Conference to allow distributors and employees from around the country to be the first visitors to browse the display.
In addition to the new exhibit, visitors to The Depot can also enjoy the Purtill family’s vast collections and
the American style 1950s diner. Iconic vehicles on display include a 1981 DMC-12 DeLorean, similar to the model used in the filming of Back to the Future, and a 1948 OB CAC Bedford Bus, affectionately called Rosie, recognised as the oldest continually registered school bus in Australia.
Memorabilia displays depict Australian life in a bygone era including full lounge room and kitchen setups, along with ‘Keith’s Corner’, a touching area that invites visitors into a pop’s shed-style setup featuring personal items from late Purtill Group founder, Keith Purtill.
Members of the public can see the Golden Fleece memorabilia as part of their general entry fee, with no upgrade required to enjoy the new display. Entry fees are $17.50 for adults, and $14 for children (6 to 17 years) and seniors. Family rates are also available. The Depot is open daily from 10am to 4pm at 158 Hardinge Street, Deniliquin, NSW. Find out more about the collections including the Golden Fleece memorabilia at depotdeni.com.au.

CAMPING Autumn
And if the mercury does happen to plummet when you’re sleeping under the stars, a small fire to keep you warm just adds to the experience camping provides.
There’s a myriad of camping options available to you in the Southern Riverina.
You can stay close to town in one of the many caravan parks, or if you want something a little more secluded, camping amongst the giant river red gums in a National Park is the perfect backdrop.
Following is a list of some of the camping areas in this region.
Woperana campground, Tocumwal (Murray Valley National Park)
If you’re looking to get off the beaten track, head to Woperana campground. This free campground is only accessible during dry weather and it’s best to take a 4WD. It’s one of the remote camping areas in the park, and with space for only three to four camps at a time, you’re bound to enjoy the solitude. It’s a great place to enjoy a spot of fishing or kayaking, and it’s definitely a wonderfully serene place to relax.
Wooloondool campground, Hay (Murrumbidgee Valley National Park)
Many set up camp here as it’s a great place for fishing. You might be lucky to catch some yellowbelly, redfin, brim, catfish, and carp, as well as crayfish during the season. If fishing doesn’t float your boat, take the dog for an easy walk along the riverbank to secluded swimming and picnicking areas. It’s also a great place to launch a kayak or canoe. There are plenty of camping spots for caravans, campers, and tents within groves of black box trees.
Benarca campgrounds, Moama (Murray Valley National Park)
Sprawled across the 206ha Benarca Forest are nine campgrounds offering impressive views of the Murray River from your tent, campervan or caravan site. With the hum of cicadas and corellas and the majestic Australian river red gums, it’s hard not to feel immersed in nature. Enjoy a walk along the river, mountain bike ride at the nearby Five Mile mountain bike trail, or enjoy a spot of birdwatching.
Edward River Bridge campground, Mathoura (Murray River Regional Park)
Set on the picturesque Edward River, Edward River Bridge campground is bush camping at its best. It’s a great choice for a family camping holiday. There’s plenty to keep everyone happy – go for an energising stroll on the Gulpa Creek walk, barbecue at the neighbouring Edward River Bridge picnic area, throw in a line or relax with a book under the shade of a river red gum. Remember to bring your binoculars, as this part of the park is great for birdwatching.
Mulwala campground, Mulwala (Murray River Regional Park)
Also known as Hinches Beach, Mulwala campground offers campsites for caravans, motorhomes and tents, and is perfectly positioned next to the mighty Murray River. Because of its location within Murray Valley Regional Park, you can even bring your dog along. You can explore the park on foot or on your bike or paddle the river in a kayak or canoe, and be sure to bring your fishing rod along.
Willoughbys Beach campground, Deniliquin (Murray Valley Regional Park)
Suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes, this is a great camping spot for the whole family to enjoy – even the dog. If you’re looking for a little fix of the outside world during your stay, there’s a sealed track that meanders along Edward River, through the Deniliquin CBD and to McLean’s Beach, so you can easily wander into town for a coffee and to collect the daily paper. There’s plenty to do in the park – try your hand at a spot of fishing and be sure to bring your bikes along to explore the park’s trails. You can also put your boat into the Edward River using this easily accessible boat ramp, best suited for small to medium vessels.
Quicks Beach campground, Barooga (Murray Valley National Park)
With the Murray River at your front door, and the magnificent river red gums in your backyard, Quicks Beach campground is only 3.5km from the centre of Barooga. However you travel, you’re bound to find a bush camp that suits you. Take your fishing gear and your swimmers – the river is perfect for dropping in a line and the grassy campground rolls down to a sandy beach where the kids can build a sandcastle. To keep visitors safe, all camping in NSW National Parks now requires a booking (fee applies).
Before you travel, check if your chosen campground has fully recovered from the 2022 floods. You can check for park alerts, updates and information at www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au. And before lighting any campfires, please check for any fire bans or fire warnings.
It’s autumn. The weather is getting cooler, but it’s not too cold that you can’t still enjoy a day by the river or even a full weekend camping.

GOLFER’S
Deniliquin Golf Club is on the edge of Murray Valley Regional Park, but just a stone’s throw from the centre of town. With 18 carefully manicured fairways meandering around the waterways and forests it is one of Australia’s most natural and beautiful golf settings.
Stay and play… golf in Deni
The entire course has reopened, thanks to the hard work of staff and volunteers. You can enjoy the beauty of this golf course, alongside the kangaroos, kookaburras, Superb Parrots, echidna, goannas, lizards, pelicans and a host of other wildlife that abounds in this paradise of nature.
At its best, Deniliquin golf course with its 18 manicured fairways and true greens, is a shining example of Australia’s magnificent golf courses.
If you’re looking for a trip away, the Deni Golf Resort has you covered with a range of packages, built to take the stress out of finding accommodation. Its 22 units overlook the ninth fairway, and are nestled among bushland.
The resort and course are in a superb location on the edge of Murray Valley Regional Park, yet just a stone’s throw from the centre of town. It’s just 30m from the resort to the first tee, and it’s a shorter distance to the bushwalk track.
The course perfectly reflects a chance for all golfing standards to enjoy a fun and challenging round.
By modern standards the course is not long — 5817 metre par 72 for men, and 5118 metre par 72 for ladies. However, off the back tees it is a challenge for all levels of player, as many professionals who have tried to tame the course have discovered.
Poor shots find the huge trees that line most of the couch fairways, while the greens are fast but true and always in great condition.
A feature of Deniliquin golf course is the ‘same day play’ principle that applies. On most days you can phone the pro shop on (03) 5881 3333 and book your tee off time, or just call in and one of the friendly volunteer staff will cater for your golfing needs. If you prefer the relaxation of a golf cart, there are plenty of those available too.
After your round on the course, enjoy the club’s facilities or relax under the veranda adjacent the pro
shop. Friday nights are a speciality in the clubhouse, when there are meat raffles, great meals and a fun atmosphere where locals will make you welcome. For the latest information on clubhouse opening and activities, phone (03) 5881 1325.
If you want to practise your game, a new addition in 2022 at the Golf Club is the under-cover driving range, which features an automated ball dispenser and lighting, allowing extended play on your terms. It’s simply a matter of getting a token or swiping your credit card to get a bucket of balls and work on your swing.
Visitors are also encouraged to enter any of the club’s regular competitions, which are on its website. These include a Saturday medley, ladies events on Tuesday and Thursday, and men’s stableford on Wednesday. This year there will be additional charity days, usually on a Sunday, which had to be postponed due to the flood.
Deniliquin Golf Club hosts one of the most picturesque courses in the region, and it is back in action after being impacted by the 2022 floods.

What’s On Autumn 2023 24
Featuring in many Woolworths gourmet marts across Australia and even a store in Singapore, the word is out, ‘Rich Glen’ means premium quality, and it’s a reputation this close-knit family are determined to retain. Renowned for their extensive selection of quality products utilising the farm’s premium awardwinning coldpressed extra virgin olive oil as a base for 98% of all of the products that they produce onfarm.
Ros and Daimien Vodusek, together with Daimien’s parents, Franc and Marija, for the past 30 years have worked tirelessly to create the premium RG brand with the moto, ‘from our family to yours!’, and now, the 3rd generation including Hannah, Jack, Ava and Max are joining the business with new and exciting prospects for the future direction of this dynamic company.
“We give our all to ensure we deliver premium quality food, skincare, and home products for our customers. Our reputation for quality is so important to us and we truly value the respect we have gained from both our customers, and the client relationships we have forged, because they trust our products, and us!”, said Jack Vodusek.
A new addition to their popular natural skincare ranges, was recently launched ... the Ava Marija Skincare range. This gentle skincare range is designed to suit a youthful skin type or those seeking a minimalistic pure ingredient approach to
skincare. Ava Marija was created by Ava Vodusek who had personally found it difficult to source a gentle skincare range that would keep her skin clean and supple without the use of astringents. Even in the most minute amounts, some astringents would cause her sensitive skin to become irritated.
The NEW Ava Marija range includes: Oil Cleanser | Hydrating Toner | Dewy Face Cream | Glow Face Oil | Hydrating Face Mask| Glow Body Oil | Lip Scrub and soon to be released Strawberry + Elderflower Lip Balm | Deodorant Balm and Body Scrub!
Worthy of an update, the popular Rich Glen Baby range has been given a make-over and will now be known as, ‘Mum + Me’, along with a fresh, contemporary look in a series of three bottles with the convenience of pump dispensers, for busy mums. As a new mum, Hannah Parnell (nee Vodusek) was keen to take this range under her wing, including a new design and most importantly, adding nurturing ingredients into the range with the use of essential oil extracts of Chamomile and Lavender ... The ‘Mum + Me’ range includes: Goats Milk Wash | Bub & Body Cream | Bub & Belly Oil. Rich Glen Olive Oil products can be viewed online at www.richglenoliveoil.com or visit their two stores at Rich Glen Provedore [Foodstore] and Rich Glen Orangerie [Skincare + Wellness] at 137 Belmore Street, Yarrawonga.

What’s On Autumn 2023 34
Coleambally:
A vibrant and harmonious community with beautiful gardens and streets named after local birds, the town was established in 1968 to service the Coleambally Irrigation Area. It’s the State’s newest town and was fully planned.
An RV Friendly town, Coly is located on the Kidman Way between Darlington Point and Jerilderie, and offers a restful place to pause and revitalise. Visitor attractions include:
Brolga Statue
Proudly welcoming visitors to the town is the metal sculpture of the Brolga on the Kidman Way, both north and south of Coleambally. While rare in the area, this elusive bird is occasionally seen.
Bucyrus Erie Dragline
The Bucyrus Erie dragline, an amazing piece of construction machinery, is located in the Lions Park at the entrance to town (on the corner of Kingfisher Avenue and Kidman Way). It truly represents the beginnings of Coleambally, as without this excavator to construct the extensive irrigation system, the town would not exist. It’s one of only four machines that were imported from the USA and used to excavate the main channels in the Murray Valley.
Coleambally Irrigation Cooperative
Water Wheel display
This display provides a fascinating insight into the history of the water wheel and irrigation in the Coleambally area. Visitors can view the open air display at any time.

Wine glass water tower
Sitting atop a sandhill in the town centre, the unique water tower can be seen over the tops of the cypress trees. Debate the shape and nominate it as a wine glass or a schooner. Its mosaic depicts the history and amenities of Coleambally. 24 ½ metres in height, with a capacity of over 1 million litres, it is filled from two deep bores. The site offers great facilities for a picnic.
Darlington Point:
The gorgeous riverside town of Darlington Point has some of the most beautiful camping and leisure spots in the Riverina.
Affectionately known as ‘the Point’, it’s located on the banks Murrumbidgee River, offering an array of aquatic activities such as fishing, swimming and boating.
Mix that with the good old fashioned country hospitality that you’ll find anywhere in our town and you can’t find a better place to spend a few days, a week or more.
Visitor attractions include:
Twitching and animal spotting
The unique river environment with majestic river red gums is a haven for bird and animal life. Kangaroos, wallabies, possums, and the occasional emu makes caravanning and camping an Aussie bush experience, in town or out along the river. The magic birdlife haven of the 2,000 hectare Cuba State Forest is 11km east of Darlington Point on the Whitton Road. Willbriggie Regional Park on the north side of the Murrumbidgee River is also a popular bird watching area.
The Dennis Historic Display, Lions Park
How good does Dennis look in his new home at the Lions Park in Darlington Point? This incredible old vehicle, built in 1955, was used as Darlington Point’s town pumper fire fighting unit up until about 20 years ago.
The Bend town clock
Just near the Council Chambers in Carrington Street, you’ll find ‘The Bend’, digital town clock. This design was created by internationally acclaimed Australian artist, Jonathon Leahey and reflects Darlington Point’s hidden treasure and life blood - the Murrumbidgee River. Like it or loathe it, the clock has certainly caused some robust discussion in the township!
Tiddalik Wetlands
Tiddalik Wetland is a pocket-sized wildlife sanctuary, and a quiet haven for walking, bird-watching and connecting with nature. Central to the area is a series of ponds planted with a range of aquatic species that provide habitat, and act as filtration of stormwater drained from adjoining streets. A picnic shelter is provided. Campbell Street.
Jerilderie:
Heritage walks, a tree-lined streetscape, and the cleanest toilets in NSW await visitors to the historic township of Jerilderie.
Established in 1859, the town is nestled on the banks of Australia’s, and reputedly the world’s, longest creek. Billabong Creek winds its way through Jerilderie and 321 kms of quintessentially Australian landscape.
This community is famed for its connection with Ned Kelly and his Kelly Gang, and as the childhood home of Sir John Monash.
Visitor attractions include:
Bolt Exhibition and The Old Printery – Located inside the Jerilderie Library, the ‘Doing the Bolt’ is an exhibition of convicts and bushrangers, including the three-day encounter with the Kelly Gang in 1879. You can undertake a selfguided tour through the Old Printery to discover stories connected by ‘the bolt of a prison door’. The exhibition is housed in the former office of the Jerilderie and Urana Gazette run in 1879 by Mr Samual Gill.
The Ned Kelly Raid Trail 1879
The Ned Kelly Raid Trail is a self-guided tour of the 16 sites visited by Ned Kelly and his gang in 1879. With six of the buildings directly associated to the 1879 visit still standing, it’s a fantastic insight into how the town looked when Ned visited.
Follow in Ned’s footsteps, explore the sites and make your own decision: Ned Kelly, hero or outlaw?
Steel Wings Windmill
Situated at Luke Park adjacent to Lake Jerilderie, this structure is truly a magnificent sight. Made in Sydney in 1909-1910, it was erected at Goolgumbla Station and used for stock and domestic supplies and used there until it suffered wind damage. It was moved to its present site at Luke Park when it was restored in 1979. It is 50 feet (15.24 metres) tall, has a wheel diameter of 25 feet (7.62 metres) and a tail length of 24 feet (7.315 metres).
There are three towns which make up the Murrumbidgee Council region, with each showcasing their own unique history and attractions.

Rodeo action continues in Finley
Saddle up for the Finley Rodeo at Easter. Some of the best cowboys and cowgirls from across the country will take to the rodeo arena in Tongs St from 4pm on Easter Sunday, April 9.
Competitors come from everywhere for the chance to test the stock supplied by Garry McPhee, and to win some great prizes.
An Australian Pro Rodeo Association event, points will be up for grabs for the best competitors in Finley in Sunday.
It will feature all eight standard events in rodeo, classified as roughstock and timed events.
The three roughstock events are saddle bronc, bareback bronc and bull riding.
These events are scored independently by two judges. Up to 25 points are
awarded to the animal by each judge for its bucking action, strength and degree of difficulty and a further possible 25 points to the contestant for his ‘style’.
The scores of the judges are added to give a score out of 100.
All roughstock events are scored over eight seconds, taken from when the animal clears the chutes. The cowboy needs to stay on board for the full eight seconds to make a qualifying ride.
The five timed events are steer wrestling, rope and tie, team roping, barrel racing and breakaway roping.
There are two common elements in all timed events, except the barrel race.
The animals are given a head start or ‘score’ into the arena from a special time event chute. The mounted contestant starts from behind a rope barrier, automatically tripped by the animal as it reaches the score release point.
The second element, subject to a number of time event penalties for faults, is that the fastest time in the event wins. In all time events, there is a 10 second penalty if the barrier is broken before the animal reaches the score line.
The contestant will also be disqualified for rough treatment of an animal in a time event.
The gates to the Finley Rodeo arena will open at 4pm, with the main action from 5pm.
Children’s entertainment, a bar and food will be available.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for aged pensioners, $10 for children ages 7-17, and free for younger children accompanied by an adult.
Jump the queue by pre-purchasing your rodeo tickets. Go to www. eventbrite.com.au and search ‘Finley Rodeo’.
