QUARTERLY REPORT •••• JANUARY - MARCH
2021
A Word From Our Senior Pastor Your generous response to God’s love in your life makes the sharing of love possible. Included with this report is your first quarter financial giving statement. For some it will look like numbers and statistics, but to me each report and giving statement tells a story of love being made real in the world. As your Senior Pastor, I am blessed to have a front row seat to watch how your generosity transforms lives through love. MDUMC is a vibrant and growing church living out our mission in numerous ways. When you give to support MDUMC, your act of love provides support for the members of the congregation and meaningful outreach into our community and world. Have you witnessed the love your generosity empowers? Easter services would not have been possible without your generous love. The flowering of the cross and smiles on the faces of the children of the weekday school would not be possible without your generous love. Songs from children’s choirs telling stories of Sunday school would not be possible without your generous love. Youth stories of how God is involved in their lives amidst the real challenges they face everyday would not be possible without your generous love. The feeding of families through food drives and Soupmobile, our partnerships with other non-profits in the work of improving lives, the support of numerous people navigating hectic lives and yet making time to serve others beyond themselves all would not be possible without your generous love. When I witness women and men seeking to leave a legacy of something more than themselves, I see love. Indeed, your generous response to God’s love in your life makes the sharing of love possible. As you reflect and pray about how to respond to God’s love in your life, I invite you to consider the many ways God’s love is shared through MDUMC. We love God and love neighbor as we learn, live, give, and serve together. As you look over your giving statement, we encourage you to identify where your giving is as a percentage of your income and prayerfully take a step of faith toward tithing with us. A tithe, which means ten percent, is a goal of faithful giving encouraged in scripture. Tithing is a spiritual discipline that helps order the life of the giver. There are many reasons why some may be unable to meet the goal of tithing, and this report is not intended to judge those reasons, but to ask you to make a step of faith with us toward that goal. Our hope is that over the next few years the entire church can reach the goal of tithing; because doing so will increase the amount of love being shared in our community and world. How we spend our money does indicate what is important to us. We believe that love shared through the ministries of Memorial Drive UMC is important to you and our community. We ask that you take a step of faith with us to ensure that our ministries continue to thrive. Thank you for your generous response to God’s love in your life. You are empowering the sharing of love.
Grace and peace,
Dr. Brad Morgan
SENIOR PASTOR

BECAUSE YOU GIVE
We are able to tell our neighbors they are loved by donating care packs to those in need. We were able to support our community after February’s freeze by providing meals and resources.
Your giving makes ministry possible at MDUMC, and so far in 2021 your generosity has made an impact in our congregation and community. We’re thankful for you! Because you give, we can share God’s love with our neighbors in the following ways:
We completed over 25 projects on our One Great Day of Service including meal packing, community clean-up, and working with our new FAM farm partnership.
We experienced Lent more fully through boxed resurces.
We were able to celebrate and reflect together during Holy Week.
We can offer new classes and studies.
We joined together for our first Holy Saturday celebration. We welcomed 1,978 people to our campuses on Easter Sunday along with 1,432 worshipping online.
We can set goals to welcome our community home through the lens of our Welcome Home Campaign. Want to learn more? Take a look!
WELCOME HOME
Through the end of 2021, we will be focusing on a Welcome Home campaign with the goal to help our congregation engage in the life of the church, create opportunities for growth, and provide a place of direction and hope for our community.
Cultivating Relationships
Engaging with our congregation and community through consistent invitation phone calls and interaction with nearby neighbors.
Creating Opportunities
Introducing new ways to get involved in discipleship, missions, neighborhood involvement, and social justice.
Sharing Stories
Discovering, recording, and sharing stories of God’s transformation in the lives of those who call MDUMC home.
Tending to our Spaces
Ensuring that our campuses are welcoming environments by removing clutter, keeping our buildings clean, and remodeling outdated spaces.
Hosting Engagement Events
Facilitating monthly churchwide events that serve as a first step home and an entry point to community at MDUMC.
What’s my next step? Scan the QR code with your smartphone camera and indicate which areas you would like to serve as a volunteer, or visit mdumc.org/welcomehome to learn more about the ways that you can be involved in this campaign.
