QUARTERLY REPORT •••• APRIL - JUNE

2021

A Word From Our Senior Pastor If dollars had personality, I think that those returned as gifts to God would be filled with the most joy. They are able to empower the most amazing blessings. Somewhere in your accounts today there are happy dollars looking forward to empowering the love of God and love of neighbor in the world. Those dollars know what good can become of them when they are returned to God in service. Those dollars’ friends whom you generously shared have been hard at work loving God and loving neighbor. They have helped comfort families who were experiencing a time of loss. They have helped homeless persons find hope through safety, food, and empowerment. Your dollars given back to God helped many youth experience the blessings of service and learn about a God who loves them no matter what. Your happy dollars made possible the singing, smiles, and laughter that over seven hundred and fifty children experienced at Vacation Bible School. Your returning those dollars in service to God have helped the Agape singers tour Central Texas and do amazing shows here in our neighborhood, helped mission teams to Zoom and share the love of God globally during a pandemic, and are helping families re-engage in the life of the church after the pandemic through our Welcome Home Campaign. People are returning to church, and some are finding home for the first time. Your happy dollars are empowering MDUMC to cultivate relationships, create opportunities, share stories, tend to our spaces, and host engagement events like Neighborhood Pop-Up Worship. We hope that you are being blessed by these and a host of other activities that your generous support of the ministries of MDUMC empowers. The dollars returned to God are filled with the most joy. Our Bibles help us know that the joy we receive from God is not temporary. It is not something for the moment or just a day. When you participate in the financial support of the ministries of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, you are participating in blessings that are part of an eternal joy. As we live, learn, give, and serve together, the monies you return as gifts to God provide blessings, and those blessings change the world. You’re invited to take a look at our current financial position and all the ways that your giving makes an impact through the pages of our second Quarterly Report for 2021. Thank you for your continued generosity and the blessings that we make possible for a multitude. It is a joy to be in ministry with you.

Grace and peace,

Dr. Brad Morgan

SENIOR PASTOR

BECAUSE YOU GIVE

We’ve hosted food distrubutions throughout the summer to help meet the needs of our community.

Your giving makes ministry possible at MDUMC, and so far in 2021 your generosity has made an impact in our congregation and community. We’re thankful for you! Because you give, we can share God’s love with our neighbors in the following ways:

We can celebrate alongside the 50+ sixth graders in a special worship service for our Confirmation class of 2021. Our Agape Singers Youth Choir can share the story of Joseph from the book of Genesis through their state-wide tour and through local performances.

We are able to partner with FAM Houston as a part of Shamba Ya Amani, The Farm of Peace.

We joined together for a churchwide dinner and Bingo night.

We can offer new classes and studies.

Our middle and high school students served our community at Workcamp. We’ve gotten to know our neighbors through a series of six community Pop-up Worship services in nearby neighborhoods.

We can make some muchneeded updates to our campuses to ensure that our spaces are welcoming for more to call MDUMC home.
