Para esta segunda edição do projeto “Afinidades”, o Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON) convidou um grupo de artistas mulheres, de diversas regiões do Brasil, a participar da mostra a partir de uma imersão na coleção permanente de obras do Museu Oscar Niemeyer. Reunindo dez artistas brasileiras, com curadoria de Marc Pottier, a intenção é ser uma celebração da arte feita por mulheres.

“O olhar feminino das artistas convidadas conferiu à exposição uma grande diversidade de obras, passando por épocas e temáticas distintas, que certamente irá instigar e sensibilizar o espectador. As artistas participantes selecionaram obras no acervo do MON com as quais têm maior afinidade e que mais as inspiram e, a partir delas, construíram uma nova narrativa. A intenção com isso é promover a coleção a partir de diferentes abordagens”, explica a diretora-presidente do MON e idealizadora do projeto, Juliana Vosnika.

For this second edition of the “Afinidades” project, the Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON) invited a group of female artists, from different regions of Brazil, to participate in the exhibition based on an immersion in the permanent collection of works of the Museu Oscar Niemeyer. Bringing together ten Brazilian artists, curated by Marc Pottier, the intention is to be a celebration of art made by women.

“The female gaze of the invited artists gave the exhibition a great diversity of works, going through different eras and themes, which will certainly instigate and sensitize the spectator. The participating artists selected works from the MON collection with which they have the greatest affinity and which most inspire them and, based on them, built a new narrative. The intention with this is to promote the collection from different approaches”, explains the director-president of MON and creator of the project, Juliana Vosnika.

Como resultado, artes asiática e africana estão representadas nesta exposição, assim como o trabalho do artista curitibano Poty Lazzarotto, trazendo ao público um pouco das três grandiosas doações recebidas pelo MON, além de várias outras obras de renomados artistas contemporâneos, sob o olhar das artistas. “É fundamental que o Museu abra espaço para a representatividade feminina nas artes. E fazer isso por meio de ações curatoriais é formidável. O olhar sensível dessas artistas convidadas leva o expectador a uma diferente leitura do acervo do MON”, afirma Luciana Casagrande Pereira, superintendente-geral da Cultura. A exposição “Afinidades II – Elas!”, com cerca de 130 obras, conta com a participação das artistas convidadas: Carina Weidle, Debora Santiago, Juliana Notari, Juliana Stein, Laura Vinci, Leila Pugnaloni, Maria Macêdo, Mariana Palma, Regina Silveira e Vilma Slomp.

As a result, Asian and African arts are represented in this exhibition, as well as the work of the artist from Curitiba, Poty Lazzarotto, bringing to the public a little of the three great donations received by MON, in addition to several other works by renowned contemporary artists, under the eyes of the artists.

“It is fundamental that the Museum makes room for female representation in the arts. And doing this through curatorial actions is formidable. The sensitive look of these invited artists leads the viewer to a different reading of the MON collection”, says Luciana Casagrande Pereira, General Superintendent of Culture. The exhibition “Afinidades II –Elas!”, with around 130 works, features guest artists: Carina Weidle, Debora Santiago, Juliana Notari, Juliana Stein, Laura Vinci, Leila Pugnaloni, Maria Macêdo, Mariana Palma, Regina Silveira and Vilma Slomp.

Após uma imersão no acervo do MON, elas escolheram obras dos artistas como Alfredo Volpi, Eliane Prolik, João Turin, Miguel Bakun, Poty Lazzarotto, e Tomie Ohtake, entre outros. Segundo a curadoria, a partir dessas obras foram criadas novas composições, que permitem revisitar as coleções do MON com uma grande variedade de épocas e suportes, permitindo assim percorrer a história da arte desde o século XIX até os dias de hoje. Marc Pottier, curador da mostra, explica que “nesse exercício, as artistas assumem o lugar do curador, que passa a atuar apenas como conselheiro, para dialogar sobre as possibilidades e a forma de apresentar os casamentos entre as obras. Ele complementa que “Afinidades” tornou-se um projeto anual do MON que dá vida, pelo olhar de artistas, à variedade das coleções do Museu. “Melhor do que ninguém, artistas sabem fazer a ligação entre o público e as obras através de uma narrativa nutritiva que também lhes permite compreender melhor o que é a criatividade artística.”

After immersing themselves in the MON collection, they chose works by artists such as Alfredo Volpi, Eliane Prolik, João Turin, Miguel Bakun, Poty Lazzarotto, and Tomie Ohtake, among others. According to the curatorship, new compositions were created from these works, which allow revisiting MON's collections with a wide variety of eras and supports, thus allowing traversing the history of art from the 19th century to the present day.

Marc Pottier, curator of the exhibition, explains that “in this exercise, the artists take the place of the curator, who starts to act only as an adviser, to dialogue about the possibilities and the way of presenting the marriages between the works. He adds that “Afinidades” has become an annual MON project that gives life, through the eyes of artists, to the variety of the Museum's collections. “Better than anyone else, artists know how to make the connection between the public and the works through a nourishing narrative that also allows them to better understand what artistic creativity is.”
