Brief Deadgood would like you to design and develop a pendant Light by “challenging” the way they are made, used or it’s function to create a sustainable product that has commercial appeal. Next Steps The research i carried out was based upon the fact Deadgood has minimal cocktail bar clients, i felt this was a market they could utilize. Further research led me to Be at one, a fun and visual bar which i felt embodied some of Deadgoods visual aspects.

Delight In Light

The outcome is known as ILLUME. This outcome was fuelled by a few words “Relaxing fun” I felt these words perfectly described the environments people can encounter in a cocktail bar, so i tried to incorporate it within the design. The light seeps through the frosted glass (relaxing) and travels through the Aluminum tube for a second form of light out of the bottom (fun).

Delight In Light

The design process for this product was carefully thought out. I experimented with different forms and colours for the main body. The design changed many times and was influenced by fellow peers and the target market of the bar. The products simplistic form is pleasing to the eye and helps suit multiple environments. The Aluminium and Frosted Glass help create the function and enhances the different light forms the product produces.

BriefTo design a wooden toy for John Lewis. The products will be manufactured by hand or with basic machinery, in Latvia, so the design needs to be simple and utilise material well. The production of the design needs to be communicated clearly and only use traditional manufacturing techniques. The finished item must fit within a box 300 x 300 x 200mm to reduce shipping costs.

The final product is known as “Blockies” This model made from Chemiwood, itis to scale and gives a realistic weight feel too.

They are customizable toys for children aged 5 - 10 years old. The are simplistic and last long within the age group.

The rope makes it easy for children to switch parts of their toy.

This product can help create a bond with parent and child, which also creates an emotional connection with the product itself.

I modelled for this project to help determine sizes for the product, without modelling my product would be too big and undeveloped. With the use of modelling my product went from 600mm to 400mm in diameter. Making it more suitable for the users.

The first image is showing the working model for the top slots on the Pod, these top slots allow the user to customize the product with animal features or normal slots for a natural appearance. The second image is showing the overall shape and size of the product. It also has a working drawer and stick on front face. Each model shows how the product functions
