SECONDARY LIBRARIES MONTHLY REPORT
SJSD Libraries Summary of Activity - February 2014 Our middle school and high school libraries have been busy this school year! Librarians have already been checking out books to students, assisting with research projects, collaborating with teachers, and assisting with technology needs in their respective buildings! This month, librarians also conducted a variety of lessons with students. See the full report on page 4. Questions? Contact your librarian for more information!

in this report ... why libraries matter
Young adults are more connected than ever, but a study from the Pew Research Center found that most teens still prefer print media and believe the library is “very important” in the receipt of information and books.Very few felt that libraries should be entirely online or entirely automated. In fact, few teens support the idea of moving books out of libraries to make room for more technology or community rooms. This shows that today’s young adults are connected to print and the school library is an ideal location to foster the habits of reading and research in the future generation of learners.
