The Meredith Community Centre aims to provide a range of educational, social and recreational activities to suit a range of tastes and interests. While all effort is made to proceed with advertised activities it is sometimes not possible if enrolments do not generate the funds required to cover the costs of tutors and room hire.

MEMBERSHIP Support the Centre by becoming a member. Membership is available to all interested members of the Community. The annual fee is $5.00 and membership forms can be collected from the Community Centre

The Meredith Community Centre Inc. acknowledges the support of Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) and the Department of Human Services. All classes supported are in line with the Ministerial Fees and Charges Policy. Additional fees are Course amenity fees.

We welcome and encourage people of all abilities within our region to participate in the classes and activities offered at the Community Centre. We encourage all those who wish to share their knowledge, interests and hobbies to become tutors at the Centre. Access available

SERVICES

BOOK LIBRARY: Members are welcome to borrow and swap books and magazines from the library. PARENT RESOURCE LIBRARY: Resources to borrow on various parenting topics. INTERNET-COMPUTER Internet and computers available for public use on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only when qualified staff are in attendance. $2.00 per hour plus a printing charge. COLOR PHOTOCOPYING & FAX: Services are available during office hours. LAMINATING: This service is available for sizes A3 and A4.

COMPUTER CLASSES *COMPUTER APPLICATIONS Date: Mon April 29th–June 3rd Time: 9:30-12pm 6 weeks Cost: $55(Tutition $22/resource $33) Learn the Tricks of the Trade in computer applications. Word – not just for letters Create professional looking documents and tips to improve your workflow. Excel at excel Use the intermediate functions of excel Creating a great presentation Avoid death by power point. Tips and tricks for creating great presentations to engage your listeners. Publish yourself Publisher is great for creating invitations/newsletters/flyers/publications. *FLEXI COMPUTERS Tutor: Kayleen Martin Date: Mon April 29th–June 17th Time: 12.30-3.00pm 7 weeks Cost: $55(Tutition $22/resource $33) This class is for advanced students looking to build & expand their skills in a flexible learning environment. *CREATE A WEB SITE Tutor: Pam Ridd Date: Wed June 12th Time: 1-3pm Cost: $25 Create a great website for free. Create really great websites with easy to use creation and editing tools. *IPADS BASICS FOR SENIORS Tutor: Pam Ridd Dates: Thur May 1st-June 5th Time: 1-3pm Cost: $55(Tutition $22/resource $33) This class follows on from the ipad basics class exploring ipads in more depth.

Must have reasonable computer skills required. Please BYO USB stick. *INTRO TO PAYROLL Date: Wed June 12th 1 week only Time: 6.30-9pm Cost: $25 This short intro to payroll in MYOB, you must have done the intro course or have experience in MYOB. If there are sufficient numbers this course may be run during the day. GET THAT JOB

Tutor: Rebecca Ware Date: Mon April 29th- June 17th Time: 10-12.30pm Cost: $55(Tutition $22/resource $33) Be your best; get the skills to find a job. We will cover finding opportunities including the hidden job market, applying for a job, writing the application, creating a resume, presentation and interview skills. The course will include a session on presentation and grooming and practice so that you will feel confident at an interview. Our tutors are experienced in helping people find work and understand what employer expectations are.

HEALTH AND WELL-BEING GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING Tutor: Katrina Hanan Date: Fri Apr 19th–June 28th Time: 2-3pm Cost: $88–11weeks /$10 casual In term 2 the “circuit training” class will consist of a combination of cardiovascular and resistance training with an emphasis on core strength. This is a total body workout which can be adapted to suit all fitness levels and abilities. The class involves moving from one station to the next. A warm up and cool down and stretch is included in the 1 hour session, which is conducted in a sociable and fun environment. Regular exercise has been proven to aid in weight loss, strength gain and lowers the risk of osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and many other conditions.

SELF DEFENSE FOR WOMEN & GIRLS Tutor: Fiona Skene Date: Mon April 29th-June 3rd Time: 7-9pm 6 classes incl 1st one free Cost: $150 Concession $120 The course is targeted towards the individuals own ability. It is not physically demanding and is easy to remember. Skills learnt are powerful and teach you how to use your power effectively and efficiently. Learn how to defend yourself, how to get out of all holds, attacks and threatening situations. It is all done in a fun, non threatening atmosphere, within your comfort zones. First week come and try free, followed by a further 5 week course if you choose to continue. AUSTRALIAN HEARING Date: Mon April 29th Time: 11-3pm Cost: FREE Bookings are essential for this free hearing assessment. Come and find out what you can and cant hear from one of the largest hearing services in Australia.

TAI CHI FOR BEGINNERS Tutor: Desma / Sandra Date: Tue Apr 23rd-June 25th Time: 9.30-10.30am 10 weeks Cost: $85 This class introduces you to the moves that helps you learn to control your breathing and improve your well-being. ADVANCED TAI CHI Tutor: Patricia Kent Date: Tue Apr 23rd-June 25th Time: 11.30-12.30pm 10 weeks Cost: $85 This class shows you advanced moves in Tai Chi that help with your physical and mental-well being. PRACTICAL WAYS TO RELAX Tutor: Jo Tasic Date: Wed April 24th-June 26th Time: 10-11am Cost: $125 (10 weeks) Different topics such as mindfulness, guided meditations, breath practices and basic physical movements to manage everyday stresses of life will be offered. All welcome. We need a minimum of 8 students to run this class.
