Unfortunately it’s also extremely dangerous if you aren’t aware of who and what lurks behind the scenes. Everyone should know how to be safe when surfing the web, Feeling comfortable and safe on the internet is extremely important, not only so that you can take advantage of the ease and convenience of job search, accessing services such as MyGov and other service websites, shopping, and banking, but so that you can safely use social media as well. FERMENTATION WORKSHOP Introduction to home ferments with participants making their own pot of product to take home. Selection of vegetables provided. Learn types of ferments, vegetable to use, yoghurt making, Middle Eastern pickle style. Olive curing, cider and other wine making, preserving limes and lemons. SPICE GRINDERS WORKSHOP Participants make three popular spice mixes from scratch, roasting whole spices then grinding, mixing and packaging. Each person takes a pot of each spice mix home, this also includes spicy snacks during the mid workshop break. All spices included. Session includes intro to whole spices, making spice mixes and whole spices, roasting and grinding, packaging and labelling. Also handouts and supplier details provided. CALLIGRAPHY Calligraphy comes from the Greek for “beautiful writing”. Scientific research has found that writing skills are linked to the building of vital neural pathways associated with language and ideas. So knowing how to draw letters can help to build brainpower! And this course is designed to introduce beginners to the art of the written word, help them to improve their handwriting, or produce art work and written documents for special occasions. This course includes, the three basic calligraphy styles – foundational, italic and uncial, how to use pen and ink to create simple decorations and borders and simple layout exercises so your writing looks good on the page. STEADY FEET IN MEREDITH at the Meredith Community Centre Wednesdays from the 19th July 9.30-10.30am (45 minutes to 1 hour of exercises) 4 Russell Street, Meredith-In the studio $5.00 per session Steady Feet is a program designed for older adults to reduce the risk of falls by performing exercises to challenge the balance systems and to increase strength and flexibility of the lower limb muscles. The program will consist of weekly sessions (including a pre-test session and a post-test session excluding school and public holidays). Each session, conducted by qualified exercise professionals, will run for approximately one hour, incorporating an exercise component and an opportunity to socialise and have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Before commencing the program all participants will require a signed medical check by their Doctor within the last 12 months. WEEKNIGHT WORK OUT–Michael At the Meredith Community Centre. Date: Wednesday evenings from July 19th Time: 5-6pm Cost: $100.00 10 weeks Week night workouts is an instructed fitness class for people of all ages who cannot make it through the day due to work or family. Instructed by Michael who has a background in Exercise Science, he aims to provide classes that are fun as well as physically challenging.
Tai Chi is a moving form of meditation, with a low impact on the body that helps to maintain a healthy body and mind. Each class is structured to ease the participant through particular movements. Participants of varying ages and abilities are encouraged to learn at their own pace, gaining greater strength and balance. Desma’s and Sandra’s classes introduce you to the moves that help you learn to control your breathing and improve your well-being.

Occasional Care We have experienced and qualified childcare educators committed to providing a quality service in a warm friendly environment. Our program is designed to meet the individual needs of your child and the needs of the group. We welcome you to come and visit the Centre and talk to our staff. Monday 9.15 to 1.45 Tuesday 9.15 to 1.45 Thursday 9.15 to 1.45 5 Hour sessions Wednesday and Friday 9.15 to 2.15 Children will be either taken over to the Primary School by our educator to join the after school program at 3.15 or to catch a bus. You can also collect your kinder and school aged child at the same time. The service is registered with DET so that you can access the Childcare Benefit and Childcare Rebate, which assists in making care in our Centre affordable.
