CELEBRATE SENIORS WEEK

Saturday 29th October 9.30 for a 10am start to 3pm. BYO $160

Kaylene will introduce you to the world of chalk paint and how easy it is to transform a tired piece of furniture into a new cherished piece. You learn a step by step process in the preparation of your furniture piece, the mixing and the application of Webster’s chalk paint. We will also explore the protective and decorative finishes using the beautiful all natural L’Essentiel waxes. You will also receive a Workshop Goodie Bag with everything you need to begin your painting journey. Requirements list available when you enrol.

BUSINESS BASICS Date:

Starting Monday 3rd October fortnightly over 10 weeks. Time: 9.30-12.30pm Cost: $150 Do you run a small business and want help or have a business idea for a product or service and run a business from home. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to plan, set up and operate your home based business. This course will mainly be run in a face to face classroom with resources and activities also provided online. Participants in this class may be able to access our *Family Learning Support funding to subsidise the cost of childcare to participate in this course. *Eligibility requirements apply

COMMUNICATING WITH SOCIAL MEDIA Date: Thursday 20th October —1st December Time: 7.00 to 9.00pm Cost: $120 Social Media is the new way to communicate. Implement social media strategies that source new members or customers, and connect with your community. An introduction for existing and new businesses to understand how to harness social media to build the business. You will learn marketing skills, define your goals and implement a social media strategy using various platforms to reach your customers. Participants in this class may be able to access our *Family Learning Support funding to subsidise the cost of childcare to participate in this course. MEREDITH GARDEN CLUB– NEW We are looking for expressions of interest to start up the Meredith Gardening club to be held at the Meredith Community Centre. Are you interested in sharing ideas and information, Or get the new garden beds planted up and growing at the centre.

CREATIVE PAINTING—FOLK ART Dates: Friday from 7th October Time: 9.30-11.30pm Cost: $5 per class Have fun and learn to use acrylic paints for painting pictures and decorating a variety of items.

PERSONAL INTEREST RIBBON STAR QUILT Date: Wednesday 9th November Time: 10.00-3.00pm Cost: $40 Please collect materials list Make a simple ribbon star block using strip piecing, then choose to put it together with simple sashing, or on point with striped triangles.

LEARN ABOUT YOUR MACHINE AND BASIC SEWING Dates: Monday 7th & 14th November Time: 10-12pm Cost: $25 In this class you will learn how to use your sewing machine and overlocker. Also learn how to make a basic garment, hemming and use a commercial pattern. Materials will be supplied. BYO your own sewing machine or use one of ours.

BEAUTIFUL BEADS Date: Sunday 30th October Time: 10.00 – 3.00 pm Cost: $60. Including clay, jewellery findings and materials. Explore the delights of working with polymer clay which lends itself to a wide range of effects to make your own unique jewellery. This introductory course will show you where to begin, the tools you need and how to create stunning and wearable jewellery. You will be amazed at what you can create.

Saturday 12th November 10-12.30pm $50 Maximum 8 places available Learn how to make skincare products such as moisturiser, luscious lip balm, and gentle body scrub from pure, natural household items. Ingredients, jars and recipes provided. Wear old clothes or bring an apron as this is a hands-on class.

We can explain how you can maximise your pension entitlement by using smart funeral planning. Tuckers are offering free information talks for community groups to explain the benefits of pre paid funeral bonds.


HEALTH AND WELL-BEING TAI CHI

FUN AND FITNESS FUN FITNESS FOR EVERYONE –Katrina Date: Friday 7th October —16th December 2-3pm Cost: $99.00 11 weeks or $10 Casual At the Meredith Community Centre. “Strength and fitness” class suitable for all age groups. Suitable for men and women of all fitness levels and abilities and will benefit those with health conditions, including osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes and chronic heart disease. All classes are supervised by a qualified and experienced trainer.

Tai Chi is a moving form of meditation, with a low impact on the body that helps to maintain a healthy body and mind. Each class is structured to ease the participant through particular movements. Participants of varying ages and abilities are encouraged to learn at their own pace, gaining greater strength and balance. The advanced class with Patricia shows you advanced moves in Tai Chi that help with your physical and mental-well being. Desma’s and Sandra’s classes introduce you to the moves that help you learn to control your breathing and improve your well-being.

STEADY FEET IN MEREDITH Steady Feet is a program designed for older adults to reduce the risk of falls by performing exercises to challenge the balance systems and to increase strength and flexibility of the lower limb muscles. The program will consist of weekly sessions (including a pre-test session and a post-test session excluding school and public holidays). Each session, conducted by qualified exercise professionals, will run for approximately one hour, incorporating an exercise component and an opportunity to socialise and have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Before commencing the program all participants will require a signed medical check by their Doctor within the last 12 months. WEEKNIGHT WORK OUT–Michael At the Meredith Community Centre. Occasional Care We have experienced and qualified childcare educators committed to providing a quality service in a warm friendly environment. Our program is designed to meet the individual needs of your child and the needs of the group. We welcome you to come and visit the Centre and talk to our staff. 3 Hour sessions—Mon, Tue and Thur 9.15 to 12.15 5 Hour sessions—Wed and Fri 9.15 to 2.15 Kinder pick up session Mon, Tue and Thur 2.00 to 3.15. Children will be either taken over to the Primary school by our teacher to join the after school program at 3.15 or you can collect your kinder and school aged child at the same time. The service is registered with DET so that you can access the Childcare Benefit and Childcare Rebate, which assists in making care in our Centre affordable. We currently have vacancies so give us a call

ENROLMENT INFORMATION The Meredith Community Centre aim to provide activities to suit a range of tastes and interests. Sometimes if we do not have sufficient enrolments to cover our costs we may not be able to run and advertised class. COURSE FEES All ACFE classes are in line with the Ministerial Fees and Charges Policy. Additional Course amenity fees may apply.
