This program will cover al the usual suspects like resume writing, cover letters, referees and preparing for a job interview. It will help you put together your pre-employment paperwork like obtaining a Working with Children Check, applying for a Police Check, and obtaining a Tax File Number
Know your rights We will also look at understanding your rights as an employee and what to expect from an employer i.e. letters of appointment, position descriptions, Pay slips, Training etc.
Work placement opportunity You will also be paired up with a mentor from YMCA Geelong in an area of work you are interested in for the opportunity of participating in work placement providing you with a referee on the your resume.

Learn with a qualified Western Herbal Medicine Practitioner some of the benefits of drinking herbal teas. Make your own tisane, and enjoy a cuppa and bite to eat. By the end of the 2 hour workshop you will have learnt more about medicinal properties of herbs, as well as made your own signature tisane. Please bring a clean jam jar along to the workshop.

CREATIVE WRITING Explore a variety of prompts and techniques to assist in expressing yourself creatively. The class will read samples of writing for different audiences and purposes, and learn some simple self editing techniques. KNIT, CROCHET AND UFO’S MORNING All welcome, no previous experience needed! Join this fun group of like minded crafty people by bringing your own project along. Start a new one or finish all of those unfinished projects from home. Wednesday mornings 10-12pm from October 11th. Our project for term 4 is a sampler rug. Would you like to learn different stitches, either crochet or knitting. Join us to make an assortment of squares to turn into a knee rug. Do you have any unwanted good quality 8ply wool, we would love any donations. Can be dropped into the centre during office hours.

Introduction to home ferments with participants making their own pot of product to take home. Selection of vegetables provided. Learn types of ferments, vegetable to use, yoghurt making, Middle Eastern pickle style. Olive curing, cider and other wine making, preserving limes and lemons. Minimum of 4 people to run this class, no more than 10. So book early and reserves your place. This class was very popular last term.
HEALTH AND WELL-BEING TAI CHI
FUN AND FITNESS STEADY FEET IN MEREDITH at the Meredith Community Centre Wednesdays from 11th October 9.30-10.30am (45 minutes to 1 hour of exercises) 4 Russell Street, Meredith-In the studio $5.00 per session Steady Feet is a program designed for older adults to reduce the risk of falls by performing exercises to challenge the balance systems and to increase strength and flexibility of the lower limb muscles. The program will consist of weekly sessions (including a pre-test session and a post-test session excluding school and public holidays). Each session, conducted by qualified exercise professionals, will run for approximately one hour, incorporating an exercise component and an opportunity to socialise and have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Before commencing the program all participants will require a signed medical check by their Doctor within the last 12 months.
Tai Chi is a moving form of meditation, with a low impact on the body that helps to maintain a healthy body and mind. Each class is structured to ease the participant through particular movements. Participants of varying ages and abilities are encouraged to learn at their own pace, gaining greater strength and balance. Desma’s and Sandra’s classes introduce you to the moves that help you learn to control your breathing and improve your well-being.

Sometimes if we do not have sufficient enrolments to cover our costs we may not be able to run and advertised class.
