The Meredith Community Centre “Strength and fitness” class for 2014 will focus on the over 50 age group. This program is suitable for men and women of all fitness levels and abilities and will benefit those with health conditions, including osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes and chronic heart disease. The first session will involve a one on one assessment with the trainer to discuss any health conditions and personal goals. An exercise program will then be designed, tailored specifically for the individuals needs and abilities . All classes will be supervised by a qualified and experienced trainer, specialising in the needs of older adults. As exercise programs are individual, fit over 50’s are also encouraged to participate. Benefits of exercise and strength training include Reduced risk of heart disease Reduced risk of diabetes Increased bone density Improved posture, mobility and flexibility Improved balance, minimising falls Gains in strength and endurance to assist in everyday living activities Initially the session will be conducted once per week with the possibility of twice per week, depending on numbers. Friday 31st January will be assessments only, so come along and book a half hour session. Assessment time will be from 1-3pm.
Tai Chi is a moving form of meditation used by people in China since the 16th century. The movements have a low impact on the body and the benefits help to maintain a healthy body and mind. Each class is structured to ease the participant through particular movements that require concentration, co ordination of hands, feet and breathing. SAMPLER QUILT Tutor: Lyn Dates: Thursday March 6th Time: 10.30-3.30pm Cost: $35 Please collect materials list. A traditional sampler quilt, made using 12 different machine pieced blocks, some choice will be given for the blocks that you use, therefore the picture supplied is a guide only. You may even choose to double up on some blocks or make the quilt larger by adding more blocks. This is the start of a 4 term project where the blocks make a completed quilt by the end of the year.

Our licensed childcare service is registered under the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The Centre has Federal approval to provide carers with the opportunity to access the Childcare Benefit and Childcare Rebate which assists in making care in our centre affordable.
