Renegade offers a variety of wines, including dry and sweet whites and reds, a sweet rosé, and even a few fruit wines. As a diehard white wine drinker, I chose a glass of Riesling and couldn’t believe my tastebuds. Unlike the stereotypical “local wine” that often tastes more like juice than vino, the Riesling was tasty and, get this, just $6 a glass. (In that case, I’ll take another!) My date opted for the Cabernet Sauvignon and gave it his stamp of approval. Having trouble deciding? Participate in a tasting and try several different varieties. traffic will allow. Nowhere could get you that happy feeling when you are stealing that extra bow.” Seeing a show is one of the few times where you can take a break from reality, travel to faraway places, and meet exciting characters. Here in the Pocono Mountains, we are fortunate to have the Shawnee Playhouse, where you can experience professional productions at affordable prices. This fall, save yourself a trip to Broadway and take a scenic drive to the Shawnee Playhouse in Shawnee on the Delaware, PA.
While Ginny and Charlie Kirkwood are still at the helm of Shawnee Playhouse, their five children and seventeen grandchildren work closely alongside them and have even taken the stage at the Playhouse! It is both rare and refreshing to see a small, family business thriving after so many years. For more information on shows, schedules, and tickets, visit www.theshawneeplayhouse.com. See you at the show!
Built in 1904 by C.C. Worthington, the Worthington Hall was established as a way to entertain and educate residents and visitors of Shawnee on the Delaware. In 1978, Ginny and Charlie Kirkwood purchased and renovated the hall and began, once again, providing the area with high-quality entertainment. In 1985, the Shawnee Playhouse burned

down, so performances were relocated to East Stroudsburg University during the rebuild. But have no fear, the Shawnee Playhouse reopened, thanks to a lot of hard work and generosity from area organizations and individuals. Now, with approximately 15-20 productions per year, the Shawnee Playhouse is busier than ever! From children’s theater to Shakespeare, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The Playhouse is bustling from May through December, with special events taking place in the remaining months. This fall’s lineup holds some classic favorites, like The Nutcracker Ballet. NATIONAL
BULLYING
PREVENTION
There is excitement this time of year as students and teachers head back to school. For students who experience bullying, however, going back to school can be a time of anxiety and apprehension, impacting their education, health, and safety. October marks National Bullying Prevention Month, which was initiated by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2006 and brings together communities around the world to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. National Bullying Prevention Month is supported by hundreds of schools, community members, major corporations, and celebrities, and is an opportunity to encourage everyone to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. One of every five students reports being bullied during the school year. Online, the percentage of individuals who have experienced cyberbullying has nearly doubled over the past decade. “October is a time when educators, students, parents, and community members can unite to share their support for the important issue of bullying prevention,” said Julie Hertzog,
Month
director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. “Together, we can make our schools, communities, and online environments safer.” There are many ways to be involved during National Bullying Prevention Month, such as wearing and sharing orange on Unity Day, Wednesday, Oct. 25, to send a unified, orange message of hope and support to those who experience bullying. PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center offers resources for students, parents, schools, and communities to address bullying. Engagement begins with its three innovative websites, all created to target a specific audience: • PACER.org/bullying for parents and professionals • PACERTeensAgainstBullying.org for middle and high school students • PACERKidsAgainstBullying.org for elementary school students These websites provide information about bullying at school, in communities and online, and support to those who experience bullying. The sites include classroom toolkits and activities, videos, personal stories, statistics, and resources to raise awareness of this important issue, and includes a pledge kids and teens can take to be together against bullying. For more information about National Bullying Prevention Month and to learn how to become involved in this worldwide campaign, call 952-838-9000 or visit PACER. org/bullying.

question
How do you tackle your holiday shopping? Where do you go? Do you prefer online or in-store?
answers
• Walmart is offering layaway. - Katie • Yep, they did last year too! I take advantage of it every year, both Walmart & Kmart. I do most of our shopping between Walmart and Target and also tend to shop quite a bit at Amazon! - Laurie • I buy a $25 gift card each pay week and then use those cards to do all of my shopping. - Tracy • Genius Kid’s Academy www.genius-kids.us - Katie • Amazon!!! - Kelly
• I am a bargain shopper so I am always comparing prices and buying online. Mostly I buy toys from Target, Toys R Us, Kohls and Amazon. I bought a ton of stuff at Kmart when they were going out of business this year too. If you like to shop early, Zulily often has things in their Santa's Workshop that you don't see other places but it takes forever for shipping so shopping now is a must. - Brandi • I started today! I hit the Crossings while the kids were in school... no crowds and picked up a few things. I buy one or two things a few times a week and manage to get most of it done before it gets cold. There are LOTS of clearance things now. - Christine • Fat Brain Toys - Mikki • I know I'm silly, but having had 3 children I started shopping in September. One dollar amount per paycheck, and one present for one child each time. Then I would order online and just put the unopened
