hawks hope to land on winning side

Kayla Schaufenbuel has her sights set on a winning season for the South Hamilton volleyball team this fall.
The Hawks took 12 matches a year ago, advancing to the Class 2A regional quarterfinals for a second consecutive season.
It has been three years, though, since they had a winning record after going 24-8 in 2018. From 2014-18, South Hamilton prevailed in a total of 103 matches and finished above .500 each season.
Led by three-year captain Zoey Duns, the Hawks and Schaufenbuel will look to move up the Heart of Iowa Conference ladder.
I would say the main goals of the team this season are to finish in the top half of the conference,” Schaufenbuel said, “be successful under pressure, and use our quickness to our advantage.”
Along with Duns, Kate Barkema, Hallee Feaker and Kailyn Northrop return with key varsity experience.
