Tourism and Business Success Story Dear Readers,

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser Der Glacier Express ist seit jeher ein Gemeinschaftswerk: 1930 wurde er von der Rhätischen Bahn, der Furka Oberalp Bahn und der Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn gegründet (die zwei letztgenannten fusionierten 2003 zur Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn). Diese Gesellschaften hatten früh erkannt, welche wirtschaftliche Chance sich ihnen bot. Und sie hatten recht: Schon im ersten Jahr nutzen mehrere Tausend Fahrgäste die attraktive Direktverbindung Zermatt – St.Moritz.

Mittlerweile sind es rund 200 000 Passagiere jährlich.

Die Fahrgäste des Glacier Express sind jedes Jahr auch für Hunderttausende Logiernächte verantwortlich. Der «langsamste Schnellzug der Welt» ist und bleibt damit eine touristische und wirtschaftliche Erfolgsgeschichte für den Schweizer Tourismus. Glacier Express has always been a joint effort: founded in 1930

by Rhaetian Railway, Furka Oberalp Railway and the Brig-VispZermatt Bahn (the latter two merged into Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn in 2003). These companies recognised the business opportunity early on and they were right. Already in the course of the first year, several thousand passengers made use of the convenient direct connection between Zermatt and St.Moritz.

Today this number is about 200,000 passengers per year.

Every year, passengers on the Glacier Express are also enjoying hundreds of thousands of overnight stays. The «world’s slowest express train» is and remains the tourism and business success story for Swiss tourism. Read on page 30 and 31 what international passengers say about the Glacier Express.

We’re delighted to welcome our newest addition: in June 2016 the Rhaetian Railway welcomed the latest addition to the RhB fleet, the first articulated train, «Alvra». A total of six of these modern trains have been ordered. Read more starting on page 8.

Did you know that beautiful souvenir photos of the Matterhorn no longer depend on the weather? Thanks to state of the art imaging technology you can now have yourself added to a perfectly sunny photo atop the Gornergrat – even when the storms are raging outside. Read the full story on page 12.

Im Rahmen der ersten UNESCO Welterbetage vom 11. und 12. Juni 2016 durfte die Rhätische Bahn (RhB) das neuste «Kind» der RhB-Flotte taufen.

Der Wettergott trug mit Regen und Sonnenschein seinen Teil zu den Jungfernfahrten des ersten Gliederzuges «Alvra» auf der Albulastrecke bei.

Insgesamt sind sechs moderne Züge im Wert von 124 Millionen Franken bestellt.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site open days on 11 and 12 June 2016 provided the opportunity for the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) to baptise the newest «baby» of the RhB fleet. The weather gods made their own contribution, pouring down both rain and sun on the maiden voyage of the Alvra, the first articulated train on the Albula line.

In all, six modern trains, worth a total of CHF 124 million, have been ordered.

echtzeitig zur alpinen Ski-Weltmeisterschaft vom 6. bis 19. Februar 2017 in St.Moritz sind vier Gliederzüge auf der Albulalinie von Chur nach St.Moritz unterwegs. Die Alvra-Gliederzüge werden bis Sommer 2017 ihren Betrieb schrittweise aufnehmen.

«Alvra» ist übrigens rätoromanisch und bedeutet «Albula».

Mehr Bedeutung für die UNESCO Welterbe­ strecke «Damit gewinnt das Reiseerlebnis auf der als UNESCO Welterbe ausgezeichneten Albulalinie weiter an Be­ deutung», verkündete RhB-Direktor Dr. Renato Fasciati im Beisein von Gästen aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Tourismus sowie Besucherinnen und Besuchern der UNESCO Welterbe­ tage.

Die Schweizer Unternehmung Stadler Rail AG aus Altenrhein im Kanton St.Gallen fertigte die Alvra-Gliederzüge mit grosszügigen Niederflureinstiegen mit Schiebetritt, behindertengerechten Toiletten, klimatisierten Fahrgasträumen sowie einem modernen Informationssystem.

Im Freizeitabteil kommen Familien voll auf ihre Kosten: Die moderne Bestuhlung mit Tischen im Berghütten-Stil lädt zum Picknicken oder zu Gesellschaftsspielen ein. In der Spielecke – ein Novum bei der Rhätischen Bahn – können sich die Kinder verweilen und die in einer KrokodilLokomotive integrierte Rutsche entdecken. Genügend Stauraum für Sportgeräte und ein grosses, rundum verglastes Panorama-Fotoabteil mit elektrischen Senkfenstern ergänzen das Angebot.

our articulated trains are now running on the Albula line from Chur to St.Moritz, in good time for the Alpine World Ski Championships to be held from 6-19 February 2017 in St.Moritz. The staged introduction of the Alvra trains will be completed by the summer of 2017. «Alvra» is a Romansh word meaning «Albula».

Raising the profile of the UNESCO World Heritage Site line «This further enhances the experience of travelling on the Albula line, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,» the Rhaetian Railway Director, Dr Renato Fasciati announced to an audience comprising invited guests from the worlds of politics, business and tourism, as well as visitors to the World Heritage Site open day.

NEUER BAHNHOF IN ST.MORITZ NEW STATION AT ST.MORITZ

The Swiss company Stadler Rail AG from Altenrhein in the canton of St.Gallen manufactured the Alvra trains, which boast a range of features such as accessibility boarding systems with sliding steps, disabled toilet facilities, air-conditioned carriages and a modern information system.

A play compartment for children that includes a crocodile train with a slide is a new feature for the Rhaetian Railway.

With generous storage space for sports equipment and a large, fully glazed panoramic photo coach with electric windows, the trains have something for everyone. There are 63 seats in first class, 217 seats in second, 13 folding seats and four wheelchair spaces.

Für die alpine Ski-Weltmeisterschaft vom 6. bis 19. Februar 2017 in St.Moritz erstrahlt das Bahnhof-Areal in einem neuen Outfit. Der Bahnhof von St.Moritz ist der bestfrequentierte der Rhätischen Bahn: Jährlich steigen über eine Million Fahrgäste aus aller Welt hier ein oder aus. Die Bahnhofsanlage wurde saniert und ausgebaut.

Der neu entstandene Kopfbahnhof zeichnet sich durch schienenfreie Zugänge, fünf Perrongleise und verschiedene Abstellgleise aus. Unterirdisch sind neue Räume für die technischen Anlagen und weitere Nutzräume entstanden.

St.Moritz station and its surroundings are undergoing a revamp in time for the Alpine World Ski Championships, to be held from 6-19 February 2017. The station is the busiest on the Rhaetian Railway – every year, over one million passengers from all over the world board or leave the trains here. Following a programme of renovation and extension, the new-look terminus has rail-free access routes, five platform tracks and a number of sidings.

Below ground, new space has been created for technical facilities and additional service rooms.

Like my baby

David Wiegratz, Sie sind Alvra-Projektleiter bei der Rhätischen Bahn. Welche Bedeutung hat der AlvraGliederzug (AGZ) für Sie persönlich?

Ein Projekt wie der AGZ kann nicht als One-Man-Show gestemmt werden. Es ist vielmehr das Ergebnis von vielen klugen Köpfen und geschickten Händen eines grossen Projektteams, sowohl bei der Rhätischen Bahn wie auch bei Stadler Rail. Trotzdem: Der AGZ ist so etwas wie mein Baby. Denn als Projektleiter bin ich vielleicht derjenige, der sich am intensivsten mit dem AGZ beschäftigt hat. Und zwar seit seiner «Zeugung» im Frühjahr 2009, als das RhBProjektteam zum ersten Mal zusammenkam und in einer Reihe von Workshops herausfilterte, wer die Kunden für den neuen Zug sein und welche Bedürfnisse sie haben würden.

David Wiegratz, you are the Alvra project manager at the Rhaetian Railway. What does the Alvra articulated train (AGZ) mean to you personally?

A project like the AGZ is never a one-man show. It is more the result of a meeting of clever minds and skilled hands in a large project team, both at the Rhaetian Railway and Stadler Rail.

Nevertheless, the AGZ does feel rather like my baby. As project manager I am probably the one who has been most closely involved with our new addition, ever since its «conception» in 2009, when the Rhaetian Railway project team first came together and in a series of workshops determined who were the likely customers for the new train and what their needs would be.

Hat Ihnen diese Entwicklung nur Spass gemacht – oder auch Kopfschmerzen?

Wenn ich auf die vergangenen sieben Jahre zurückschaue, hat mich der AGZ so stark beschäftigt wie ein Kind von der Geburt bis zur Schulreife. Entwicklung und Bau des AGZ haben Freude gemacht, zwischendurch aber auch Kopfweh verursacht. Ich bin froh, dass wir den AGZ nun «einschulen» konnten und, dass er sich während der laufenden Betriebserprobung an sein zukünftiges Leben als modernes Transportmittel gewöhnen darf.

Und welche Erwartungen haben Sie an diesen neuen Zug? Ich glaube, dass wir einen guten Mix in der InnenraumAusstattung gefunden haben: Unsere kleinsten Kunden können sich auf der Rutschbahn im «Krokodil-LokomotivenLook» austoben, während dem Erstklass-Fahrgast eine angenehme Reise in einem Fahrgastraum mit besonderem Beleuchtungsambiente und ergonomisch gestalteten Sitzplätzen geboten wird. Mit dem AGZ werden wir die Attraktivität der UNESCO Welterbestrecke weiter erhöhen.

Was this development all enjoyment or did it involve some headaches along the way?

When I look back over the last seven years, the AGZ took up as much of my attention as a child from birth to starting school.

This development process has brought me immense pleasure, but also involved some growing pains. I’m pleased that we have now been able to send the AGZ out into the world and that the forthcoming operational test phase will enable it to settle into its future life as a modern mode of transport.

What are your expectations of this new train?

I believe we have found a good mix in the design of the interiors: our youngest customers can have great fun in the «crocodile locomotive», while first-class passengers can enjoy a pleasant trip in a carriage with special atmospheric lighting and ergonomically designed seats. The AGZ will further increase the attractiveness of the UNESCO World Heritage Site line.

Granted, even on the Gornergrat the sun isn’t always shining. But now this needn‘t prevent visitors from having themselves photographed against some outstanding panoramic backdrops. This is made possible in the «Matterhorn PhotoShop» on the Gornergrat by green-screen technology with several photographic subjects and a range of historical costumes.

Kostüme wie anno 1865 An diesem Ort ist der Blick frei zum Matterhorn und die umliegenden Berge. Der mehrsprachige Fotograf Alessandre hilft beim Ankleiden: «Für Männer, Frauen und Kinder stehen mehrere Kleidungspaare aus der Zeit der Erstbesteigung des Matterhorns zur Verfügung.» Auf einem Podest können sich die Gäste mit Eispickel positionieren. «Wenn das Wetter rund ums Matterhorn gut mitspielt, können wir Originalaufnahmen machen; ansonsten besteht die Möglichkeit, diese computergesteuert im Matterhorn PhotoShop zu bearbeiten.»

«Sitzend oder liegend» Im 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, dort wo sich Geschäfte und Restau­ rants befinden, ist gleich beim Haupteingang rechts der Standplatz vom «Matterhorn PhotoShop». Filipe, auch er sehr sprachgewandt, berät die Kunden bei der Auswahl der Sujets und führt sie dann in den danebenliegenden Greenscreen-Raum, wo man sich «sitzend, stehend oder liegend» in Position begeben kann. Selbst wenn es draussen regnet, stürmt oder schneit – die Aufnahme mit dem Gast erscheint bei besten Bedingungen mit Matterhorn und Umgebung sowie mit der Gornergrat Bahn. Auch Gruppenaufnahmen sind realisierbar.

Die Greenscreen-Technik … … ist eine farbbasierte Bildfreistellung, wo Personen und Gegenständen nachträglich auf eine reale Fotoaufnahme, hier die Umgebung vom Matterhorn, kopiert werden.

In this location the views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains are uninterrupted. Polyglot photographer Alessandre Soares helps visitors to change. «We offer a range of matching costumes for men, women and children from around the time of the first ascent of the Matterhorn.» Subjects are invited to pose with an ice axe on a small platform. «If the weather on the Matterhorn cooperates we can take original pictures; otherwise we have the option of processing the pictures electronically in the Matterhorn PhotoShop.»

«Seated or reclining» The «Matterhorn PhotoShop» stall can be found by the main entrance of the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, to the right of the foyer where the shops and restaurants are located. Filipe Almeida, also an excellent linguist, advises customers in their choice of subject before leading them to the green-screen room where they can pose in a «standing, seated or reclining» position. Even when it’s raining, stormy or snowing outside, the customer’s portrait is shown against perfect conditions on the Matterhorn and its surroundings, including the Gornergrat Railway. Group photos can also be arranged.

The green-screen technique This is a colour-based composition technique, in which people and objects are retrospectively superimposed on a photographic background, in this case the Matterhorn scenery.

Die liebe Freundin Frida Wer hierher kommt, darf nicht erstaunt sein, wenn Anni-Frid «Frida» Lyngstad von der Popgruppe ABBA an einem Tisch ein Dinner geniesst. «Frida und ich sind Freunde», begründet Dan Daniell. Das stimmt: Zum 150-jährigen Jubiläum der Erstbesteigung des Matterhorns schrieb Daniell einen Song – wie schon 1990 zum 125-jährigen («Matterhorn»). Anfang 2015 war sein Album «Lebe Deinen Traum» bis auf das neue Jubiläumslied «1865» fertig. «Meine Produzenten kamen nach Zermatt und richteten in einem Hotel ein Tonstudio für die Aufnahmen ein. Livekonzert für die Gäste Ursprünglich hat Dan Daniell in Genf Koch gelernt; seit 30 Jahren führt er nun das «Chez Heini», wo er, der auch schon in den USA und in Europa gesungen hat, am Schluss des Abends jeweils ein kurzes Livekonzert mit Matterhorn-Impressionen für seine Gäste darbietet.

Seine Kreativität lebt Daniell auch in der Freizeit aus, schreibt tiefsinnige Erzählungen und neue Rezepte oder haucht seinen Erfindungen, den niedlichen Schwarznasenschafen Wolli und seiner Freundin Blüemli, Leben in Kinderbüchern ein – beides sympathische Werbeträger des Zermatter Gornergrats, wo auch Daniells eigene Schafe weiden. Ein Ziel hat der Lebenskünstler allerdings noch: Er war bisher nie auf dem schönsten Berg der Welt – dem Matterhorn!

Daniell’s gratin potato dish is a celebrity in its own right, and his soups are stylish creations to die for. Deep gratitude – every day, Dan Daniell looks out from his house to the Matterhorn and feels grateful that he lives in Zermatt.

Diners shouldn’t be surprised to see AnniFrid «Frida» Lyngstad of pop group Abba enjoying a meal at one of the tables.

«Frida and I are friends,» Dan Daniell says. And it’s true – to celebrate the 150year anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn, Daniell wrote a song, just as he did in 1990 for the 125-year anniversary («Matterhorn»). At the beginning of 2015 his album «Lebe Deinen Traum» (Live Your Dream) was complete except for the new anniversary song, «1865». «My producers came to Zermatt and set up a recording studio in one of the hotels. I asked Frida to call by and give her opinion on the songs,» Daniell recalls. «She said she wasn’t coming to

listen – if she was going to make the trip, then she’d like to sing too. We made the recording together, with the additional help of a choir – I was honoured.» The profits from the CD are donated to his children’s charity.

Live concert for the guests Dan Daniell originally trained as a chef in Geneva, and has sung in the USA and across Europe. He has been running Chez Heini for 30 years now, and always rounds the evening off with a brief live performance to give a flavor of the Matterhorn to his diners.

Daniell also carries his creativity over to his leisure time, when he writes thoughtful stories and new recipes, or breathes life into his creations, the cute black-faced sheep Wolli and his friend Bluemli, in a series of children’s books. Both characters are beloved mascots of the Zermatt Gornergrat, where Daniell also keeps his own sheep. And yet Daniell still has one unfulfilled dream on his bucket list, for he has never set foot on the most beautiful mountain in the world – the Matterhorn!

Following the footsteps of the Past The well preserved village centre is of national importance. Here can be seen a row of stately homes in the Rococo style.

Typical for Andermatt are the traditional wooden houses standing on stone built ground floors. Open arches and freestanding stone stairs also characterise the village.

The cobbled Gotthard road with its distinctive granite slabs inlaid down the middle of the road recall the times when the legendary Gotthard Post coach rumbled through Andermatt.

Follow the traces of those eventful times by taking a village tour. Using the discovery map, that is available from the Tourist Info Andermatt in German, English, Italian, French, Chinese and Japanese, the valley museum, the historical village centre and many other places of interest are easy to find.

Die Teufelsbrücke ist in rund 15 Minuten vom Bahnhof Andermatt aus zu Fuss erreichbar. Wer im Sommer einen Tiefblick in die Schöllenenschlucht erhaschen will, sollte den Rundweg Schöllenen unter die Füsse nehmen. Während dem rund 30-minütigen Spaziergang erleben Sie die Schöllenen hautnah zwischen senkrechten Felswänden und ergattern einen Blick auf die rauschende Reuss.

or those who prefer Winter the largest skiing region in Central Switzerland, with its 120 kilometres of groomed slopes, offers much more: How about a winter walk through the picturesque village, a snowshoe tour through untouched nature, ice skating, sledging or a snug sleigh ride?

In Summer guests can discover a varied and diverse countryside with numerous mountain lakes, small glaciers and imposing lateral valleys. At the centre of numerous Alpine Passes the Andermatt Holiday Region is the ideal departure point for mountain or road bikers. Hikers will discover that there are 16 mountain refuges in the region. Connoisseurs can discover the region by horse drawn coach, with the Post coach or with the nostalgic steam railway on the Furka Mountain route.

Devilish Myths In the legendary Schöllenen Gorge with its well known and notorious Devil‘s Bridge take in the unique view of one of the most famous gorges in Switzerland.

From the Andermatt railway station the Devil‘s Bridge can be reached by foot in just 15 minutes. In Summer, for those who wish to delve deeper into the gorge, the Schöllenen loop-track can be explored by foot. In this 30 minute walk you can experience the gorge as it cuts through vertical cliffs and look down on the rushing waters of the river Reuss below.

ZU FUSS DURCH DAS UNESCO WELTERBE ON FOOT THROUGH THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE

Wanderungen im UNESCO Welterbe der Rhätischen Bahn (RhB) in der Landschaft Albula/Bernina sind zauberhaft. In zehn Tagen entlang zehn Etappen und mit einer 40- bis 42-stündigen Wanderzeit sowie auf einer Wegstrecke von rund 131 Kilometern geht es von Thusis bis nach Tirano/Italien – oder umgekehrt.

Hiking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) in the Albula/Bernina landscape is a magical experience. The trail covers ten stages in ten days, and with a total of 40-42 hours’ walking over a distance of around 131 kilometres leads from Thusis to Tirano in Italy – or vice versa.

he hiking trail follows the route of the UNESCO World Heritage Site railway as closely as possible, giving hikers access to the Rhaetian Railway and other public transport at any time if they wish to continue their journey by other means. It’s fascinating – where else does a crossing of the Alps pass over two watersheds, between two language zones and three distinct cultural regions?

A long-distance trail As Stefan Barandun puts it in his Germanlanguage hiking guide «Via Albula/ Bernina», «This long-distance hiking trail leads from Thusis, to the north of the Alps, via the Alte Schin ravine path to Tiefencastel and through the Albula valley, over the Fuorcia Crap Alv into Val Bever, through the unique plateau of the Upper Engadine and across the Bernina Pass into the southern Graubünden Tal

Puschlav and, last but not least, on to Tirano in the Italian Valtellina valley.» Of course, the trail can also be followed in the opposite direction, from south to north.

Arranged in ten stages that can be individually combined, it leads through a wide variety of natural and cultural landscapes, from high Alpine to subtropical zones.

Along the way there is the opportunity to see bridges, viaducts, loop tunnels and old railway stations at close quarters. If required, the Rhaetian Railway can organise the transport of luggage between hotels along the way. And the UNESCO World Heritage Site Pass enables hikers to transfer to the train at any point if their feet get too tired.

UNESCO WELTERBE RHÄTISCHE BAHN THE RHAETIAN RAILWAY UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE Am 7. Juli 2008 wurden die Albula- und Berninalinien der Rhätischen Bahn in die Welterbeliste der UNESCO (Organisation der Vereinten Nationen für Erziehung, Wissenschaft und Kultur) aufgenommen. Damit gehört die Rhätische Bahn zu einer der elf Welterbestätten in der Schweiz. Zwei Gründe waren ausschlaggebend:

On 7 July 2008, the Albula and Bernina lines of the Rhaetian Railway were listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). This makes the Rhaetian Railway one of eleven World Heritage Sites in Switzerland. There were two main reasons behind the listing:

Laufend werden die Daten von Wetterstationen studiert und mit Lawinendiensten abgesprochen. Aus Realp, Andermatt und Sedrun informieren ihn Kollegen über die Schneeverhältnisse in diesen Gegenden. Kompetent vergleicht Monn zudem die Resultate von Vertretern von Gemeinden, Kantone und der Skigebiete, die ihm vorliegen.

Colleagues from Realp, Andermatt and Sedrun keep him informed about the snow conditions in those areas. He expertly compares the data with the figures submitted to him by local authorities, cantons and ski areas.

«This exchange of information is essential, as it enables us to analyse the current weather, snow and avalanche conditions and take the appropriate measures. I only send the teams out onto the tracks once I’m sure the avalanche risks will allow it,» Guido Monn says.

Snow in focus from October onwards Schnee ab Oktober im Fokus Für die MGBahn beginnt der Winter bereits Mitte Oktober, denn dann müssen alle personellen und technischen Vorkehrungen für die demnächst einsetzende Schneeräumung getroffen werden. Alle Markierungen entlang der Strecke sind genau platziert. Schon Anfang November kann der erste Wintereinbruch erfolgen. Auf die Teams und die Schneeräumungskompositionen mit Fräse und Pflug allein auf der Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn-Strecke und für den Glacier Express warten dann harte Zeiten.

«Die Sicherheit für unsere Fahrgäste und Teams steht an erster Stelle», betont Guido Monn. Erst im April werden die Wintergeräte eingelagert – und die Bahnstrecken erstrahlen im frühlingshaften Sonnenglanz.

«Our first priority is the safety of our passengers and teams,» Guido Monn stresses. The winter equipment is finally put away for the year in April, when the railway lines gleam in the spring sunshine.

ieser Ruhm kommt nicht von ungefähr, liegt aber scheinbar im Blut. Denn bereits Grossvater Ludwig Hatecke, dessen Familie seit 1864 im Engadin lebte, erlernte den Beruf als Metzger 1915 in Frauenfeld im Kanton Thurgau. Die zweite Generation mit Anton Hatecke, der Vater des heutigen Inhabers Ludwig, führte die Metzgerei Hatecke weiter.

Erfolg ohne Geheimnisse Aus dem Erfolg macht Ludwig Hatecke kein Geheimnis: «Qualität, Fleiss und Kreativität bilden die Basis. Bei Führungen kann man uns gerne über die Schultern schauen.» In den puristisch ausgerichteten Geschäften steht das Fleisch im Mittelpunkt. Sogar die Homepage erscheint stilvoll und stellt nur das Fleisch ins Zentrum.

Gutes Fleisch bedingt eine gesunde Herkunft. Hatecke stellt hohe Ansprüche an die Bauern und Tiere aus der nahen Region: «Gesunde Erde, genussvolles Gras und gesunde Tiere sind das Wichtigste» und fügt bei: «Gras fressende Kühe, statt mit Futtermitteln gemästete, geben feines Fleisch, das reich an Mineralstoffen, Vitaminen und ungesättigten Fettsäuren ist.» Zusatzstoffe kommen nicht in die Verarbeitung; geräuchert wird nur selten. Gewürzt wird, wenn überhaupt, mit englischem Meersalz, MadagaskarPfeffer und Knoblauch.

Kein Werbegag Die Trockenfleischspezialitäten vom Rind und Hirsch, wie der dreieckige Salsiz, eine luftgetrocknete, Rohwurst, und der Engadiner Bergkristall, bestes Bündnerfleisch vom Rind, gelten weltweit als Spitzenprodukt.

Die dreieckige Form ist kein Werbegag: «Salsiz wird ohne Schweinefleisch magerer und trocknet schneller aus.

Back in 1915, his grandfather Ludwig Hatecke, whose family has lived in the Engadine since 1864, learned the trade of butcher in Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau. Anton Hatecke, the father of the current proprietor, continued the butcher’s business into its second generation.
