“CHEERS TO MANY A LOVELY CRUISE!” Savannah Buffett Honoring Her Dad, Jimmy Buffett’s Legacy
Charming, engaging and loving all things Buffett, daughter of legendary Jimmy Buffett, Savannah Buffett was in Tampa to christen Margaritaville at Sea Islander. Let’s keep the party rolling for all Parrot Heads by showcasing the newest ship. Savannah Buffett is named Godmother of the ship and METRO got an exclusive opportunity to chat with her to discuss the ship and its inaugural sailing.
“I’m beyond excited to be named Godmother of Margaritaville at Sea Islander and look forward to rendering the right concoction of love and luck so she may plow the seas amidst smooth, untroubled waters in search of that one particular harbor,” exclaimed Savannah Buffett. “As a descendent of captains and boat builders, I accept this honor in tribute to the legacy of my seafaring ancestors. Cheers to many a lovely cruise!”
From acting and literature to music history and photography, Savannah Buffet has delved into a myriad of disciplines, drawing inspiration from her father’s diverse range of talents. Throughout her career, she’s worn numerous hats, serving as a creative and musical consultant, hosting her own radio show on SiriusXM’s Radio Margaritaville, and co-authoring two children’s books with her father, “Jolly Mon” and “Trouble Dolls.” Amidst her array of achievements and passion for discovery, Savannah holds her lifelong bond with her father as her most beloved treasure. Margaritaville at Sea has redesigned all 1,105 staterooms with all new furnishings and custom styling reminiscent of the sand, sea, and sky. Islander will be docked at Port Tampa Bay and offer four to seven-night cruise to Key West, Cozumel and Progreso.
METRO: What would Jimmy think of this ship?
Savannah Buffet: Jimmy embraced growing up, not old, and this ship is perfect to have fun, and ideal for multi-generational family vacations.
METRO: What do you think of the the Islander?
SB: I’ve had a chance to walkthrough, and it recently crossed the sea from Belfast, Ireland where she received a complete makeover. She traveled up through Port Everglades to her home in Tampa. The finishes, the beauty of the ship, her size and the entire crew have been wonderful. It takes a village. Jimmy always said, “that you are only as strong as the crew.”
METRO: What do you think are some of the favorite things your dad would like on the ship?
SB: Dad would get a kick out of the details including the flip flop in the atrium. He loved mini-golf and would enjoy playing. He also enjoyed a good steak, and would appreciate his namesake steakhouse, JWB Prime Steak and Seafood as a signature dining option.
METRO: What is next for you?
SB: I’m continuing the legacy of Margaritaville with dreams and vision. Jimmy will never be forgotten and the myth that he created. It’s a true family affair and the sea is in our veins. I want to work on writing travel essays, travel more and see more places.

Colorful and Tropical Landscapes “Florida Highwaymen” Showcased
at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
Step inside the cool space of Selby Gardens to enjoy the colorful artwork created by the Florida Highwaymen this summer.
The legendary Black landscape artists known as the Florida Highwaymen emerged in the 1950s in the agricultural communities of Fort Pierce and Gifford, Florida. Largely self-taught, these talented artists produced colorful scenes of Florida’s unique landscapes that appealed to residents and tourists alike. Their iconic images captured the natural beauty of the Sunshine State prior to the impact of increased urbanization.
They were prolific painters, who sold their artwork from the trunks of their cars during the post-World War II boom because they were unable to exhibit through traditional means due to the color of their skin. While making ends meet, they also made a significant contribution to the genre of Florida landscape painting.
“The Highwaymen represent a group of very talented and beloved artists,” said Jennifer Rominiecki, president and CEO of Selby Gardens. “Their works collectively capture colorful scenes of Florida’s unique landscapes with universal

appeal. To appreciate their art in our botanical setting is an experience perfectly suited to our bayfront sanctuary during the summer.”
This exhibition celebrates the artistic achievements of the Highwaymen and makes connections between their remarkable story and the experience of the African American community in Sarasota in the 1950s and 1960s. The story of the Highwaymen is, in many ways, one of art triumphing over adversity. These enterprising individuals turned to painting as an alternative to a life of manual labor, as experienced by many African Americans under the Jim Crow laws that enforced segregation in Florida and other Southern states during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Denied representation by commercial galleries on account of their race, the artists sold their works door-to-door from the trunks of their cars along main thoroughfares such as U.S. Route 1 and State Road A1A.
This innovative sales method is the inspiration for the name Highwaymen, first applied to the group by gallerist Jim Fitch in 1994. The important contribution of this group to the cultural life of the state was formally acknowledged when 26 Highwaymen were inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 2004.
Long overlooked and under appreciated by the arts establishment, works by The Highwaymen can now be seen in museums across the country.

CHILL BROS. ICE CREAM
A Sweet Treat To Beat the Heat
The word “chill” has deep meaning for the family behind the famed, local scoop shop. Not only is the founders family name Chillura, but their passion is chill by nature, that being Ice Cream. Noticing a demand for the refreshing sweet treat, the three Chillura Brothers and a Chillura Sister served their homemade ice cream to their neighborhood. They received such praise that they were eager to perfect their craft. The middle Chillura brother, Max set out to Bologna, Italy to learn the art of making ice cream.
Upon Max’s return, he had many learnings to implement into the product to make it even better. They developed a truly all natural, American-style ice cream made from scratch. The passion, care and the best ingredients are what makes this ice cream truly special.
An idea generated the next big step in the journey. It only made sense to have a dedicated site to both make and sell the delicious sweet treat. They went on to purchase and renovate a historic building in Ybor City. The addition of a full-scale ice cream kitchen provided the ability to serve really good Homemade Ice Cream.
Take pleasure in knowing that the ice cream has no unnatural properties. The quality ice cream has various flavor profiles available using international and locally sourced ingredients. This combo has set them apart from other ice cream shops.
Incorporation of the work of the best food artisans that the Tampa Bay area community has to offer is a neat detail that may not get the recognition it deserves. Plant City strawberries, Polk County orange blossom honey, Buddy Brew coffee, and fresh zested Florida oranges are a familiar staples allowing a sense of connection to the savored flavors.
The Chillura siblings have out done themselves with this concept and the community support is apparent. Boasting five locations now, it’s truly a Tampa Treasure.

Margaritaville at Sea Islander
Preview Sailing Voyage |
By Evan Parag
Fun in the sun, where it’s always 5 o’clock aboard the newly renovated Margaritaville at Sea Islander. Embarking on the VIP preview journey allowed METRO a glimpse into what’s to come. Departing from its new home, Port Tampa Bay, the Islander shined sailing into the Gulf of Mexico. With breathtaking views of the water and the Sunshine Skyway bridge as a backdrop, the ship prompted thoughts of all the future picturesque scenes to be enjoyed by the sailors.
Check-in and boarding the ship was effortless and fun as the crew was jubilant to welcome passengers on the ship. The ship is ideal to provide lasting memories for couples, families and friends. Guests were greeted with a champagne toast and welcomed aboard.
Upon entry into the tropical inspired stateroom, it was quite apparent that one truly becomes transported on an island getaway. Bright, yet simple, colors and comforting accommodations set the vibe to start and conclude each day.
After getting settled in the room and recalibrating the mindset, it was time to enjoy a libation at the Flip Flop Bar. Choosing this bar came natural as it was the focal point of the ship boasting a 14 story tropical atrium. The drinks were cold, tasty and bountiful as camaraderie energized the ship.
Before dinner, grabbing a bite proved to be the right choice as the Port of Indecision Buffet
provides copious options of both hot and cold items. Nourishments to satisfy all appetites, no matter how big or small.
Wandering the top deck prior to dinner, allowed a peek at the outside amenities. Near the bow is Dis ’N Dat Activity Zone featuring a customdesigned mini golf and cornhole challenge courses, plus pickleball at sea. The three pool layout provides
fun and relaxation for all guests.
Dinner aboard the preview sailing consisted of a private dinner at the Islander Dining Room led by Eric Neuwirth, Margaritaville at Sea’s Vice President of Food and Beverage. During which, he spoke to the inspiration for setting the menu at each of the culinary outlets.
The Miso Glazed Salmon and
Chocolate Espresso Ice Box Cake were chosen favorites of the dining experience.
Post dinner activities included drinks and dancing, first at the Havana Daydreamin’ Sports Bar & Lounge before making way to the Hot, Hot, Hot Night Club to finalize the nights festivities.
Margaritaville at Sea Islander is now setting out on four- and
five-night adventures to Key West and Mexico. In 2025, the Islander will lengthen their journeys providing guests with more options, a six- and seven-night voyage to tropical hotspots, Belize, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. The Islander can accommodate 2,650 passengers and spans 12 decks of island adventure. Come Monday, it will be alright aboard the Islander. M

Summertime Sizzle Summertime Sizzle Summertime Sizzle
By Valerie Romas
“In the tapestry of seasons, summer weaves the threads of joy and adventure.”
—Luna Brightwater
Lush landscapes, salty air and blue skies surround us as we enjoy everything Florida has to offer. With summe r being almost year round, many of us spend as much time as possible cooling off by the pool or at the beach. With so many ways to enjoy outdoor activities, the need for multiple swimsuit options is also a necessity. In this issue, we highlight a style option for every ‘fun in the sun’ location.
Retro Revisited
A classic makes a comeback-warm, fun and playful. A stylish string bikini is a beach lover’s staple. reminiscent of a simpler time, this 1970s favorite has become as popular as distressed jeans and a band t-shirt. Its youthful and effortlessly cool style makes it as epic today as it was decades ago. Add a straw hat with some leather detail for a ‘ride into the sunset’ kind of moment.
Dippin Daisys bikini, $90, Wet Products, Beach cowboy hat, $20 — Reno Beach Surf Shop; Stack of bracelets of brown agates, electroplated stainless steel beads and mustard tassels open cuff, $30 each — Erika Williner Designs
High Saturation
For those who love to shine as bright as the sun-mixing every color under the rainbow is a fun choice. A streamlined one-piece swimsuit that features pink, plum, orange, turquoise and yellow is a confident collaboration. Mix it back to a coral necklace and straw clutch to complete this color combo.
O’Neil, Reina Tropical Monsoon one-piece swimsuit, $100 — Reno Beach Surf Shop; Straw clutch with coral embellishment, $95, Stack of various agate bracelets, $30 each, Blue coral necklace with baroque pearls and electroplated stainless steel chain from Coral Reef Collection, $155 — Erika Williner Designs
Vitamin A, yellow bikini set, $200 – Reno Beach Surf Shop; Embroidered summer tote, $125 — RareHues; White magnesite wire wrapped open cuff bracelet, $30 — Erika Williner Designs
Art Meets Fashion
Traditional swim cover-ups have been replaced by more interesting options such as chunky sweaters, blazers and ‘one-of-akind’ denim jackets. Our love of art and fashion meet in this Frida Kahlo inspired designer cropped jacket. Any solid color swimsuit worn with a piece like this would ensure you’d be turning heads.
Monochrome Muse
A sporty take on the classic ‘black & white’ stripe — this look never goes out of style. Mixing a multiple of striped textures in one composition is as chic as it gets. The best way is to pair a bold, wide stripe (scarf), is back to a delicate stripe (swimsuit). This keeps things interesting. Adding some denim (shorts) or shell bangles will pull the look together effortlessly.
Wild & Fabulous
A bold perspective on a swimwear trend-this combo definitely sets you apart from the pack. This mix of texture and pattern emphasizes your attraction and desire to lead. Break free of conventional norms and explore your sense of adventure pairing unexpected pieces like a swimsuit and structured jacket. Keeping accessories to a minimum here makes sense as the swimsuit and jacket are dominant pieces.
Metallic Metamorphosis
Who doesn’t love a little shimmer? This season we are obsessed with a warm, neutral two piece set that is the perfect canvas for any color palette, especially a beachy blue kimono that reflects ‘all things nature’ like clouds, butterflies and florals. Delicate details such as shell earrings and necklace craft this combination.
Vitamin A, Good Shimmer Swimsuit Set, $195.95 — Reno Beach Surf Shop; Cropped Bamboo Kimono, $135 — RareHues; Genuine shell gold dipped pendant, $55, Shell hoops, $25 — Erika Williner Designs; Sunglasses (model’s own)
Elevated Coastal Elegance A Snell Isle Vacation Condo Retreat
By Ronda M. Parag
Interior Design: Lisa Gilmore Design
Photography: Native House Photography
Nestled in the prestigious Snell Isle neighborhood of St. Petersburg, Florida, this stunning vacation condo offers an elevated coastal feel away from the family’s home in Asheville, NC. Principal Designer of Lisa Gilmore Design, Lisa Gilmore was currently working with the couples’ son on his home renovation and the couple wanted Gilmore to transform their vacation home.
The redesign of this beautiful home is a masterclass in interior design, showcasing how thoughtful use of color, texture, and pattern can transform a space into a serene and sophisticated retreat.
“The homeowners really wanted their condo to feel like a tropical paradise without having seashells all over the walls,” recalls Lisa Gilmore. “Their styled leaned more traditional, but didn’t want the condo to feel stuffy. The homeowner loves impressionist paintings, such as works by Monet and the color blue was an absolute must! So I took all of that info and really had fun.”
The first task was was painting all
the doors and trim a really rich blue. “I was so happy they were onboard with painting, as the color elevates the space immediately and doesn’t look typical with white trim work,” said Gilmore.
Upon entering the home, one is immediately enveloped in a palette of various shades of blue, reminiscent of the pristine waters and clear skies of the Gulf Coast. These hues are thoughtfully integrated throughout the home, creating a cohesive and calming atmosphere. “We had a lot of fun with fabric choices and patterns: botanicals and birds and soft hues of blush play nicely in the space,” said Gilmore. “The homeowners really have a passion and love for birds.”
The private entry right off the elevator instantly greets you with a smile. “We had the small corridor wrapped in a striking wallpaper with a really fun scalloped mirror and a custom skirted table in a beautiful bird fabric with trim,” said Gilmore.
The family room features plush seating upholstered in soft sky blue fabrics, accented by throw pillows in varying shads of blue and blush,
adding a refined touch. Custom builtins give a traditional vibe, without being to heavy and stuffy.
The cozy den features a leopard daybed that pulls out to queen size for when the grandkids stay over. When there are no guests, the room serves as a cozy reading nook in the deep blue wall color with botanical art hugging the walls. The room is anchored with a beautiful blush crystal chandelier adding an element of whimsy and elegance.
In the kitchen, the coastal aesthetic continues with white cabinetry and sleek quartzite countertops and new hardware. The backsplash adds a touch of sparkle and visual interest. High-end stainless steel appliances ensure that this space is not only beautiful, but also functional, perfect for preparing meals after a day spent exploring the vibrant city of St. Petersburg or relaxing on the nearby beaches.
“The dining room features a custom curved banquet built here locally, and has a bullion fringe trim, which really softens in visually,” said Gilmore. “We added the sconces and the homeowner found the art, which added a great touch of color to the space.”
The rug in the primary bedroom is a custom rug designed by Lisa Gilmore. “In the future, I will be launching a collection of designer rugs that I have designed and have created in India,” says Gilmore with excitement. “The primary bedroom features an Italian Murano glass chandelier which creates such a fantastic elegance!”
Throughout the home, the use of textures and patterns is masterful, creating a layered and inviting look. From the colorful plush blue covered bar stools to the patterned wall covered entry, every detail is carefully curated to evoke the feeling of a highend tropical oasis.
This Snell Isle vacation home is a testament to the power of interior design in transforming a space. By skillfully combining coastal elements with luxurious touches, Lisa Gilmore Design Group has created a home that is both a peaceful retreat and a stylish haven, perfect for enjoying the best of Florida living.

Improving Your Sleep This Summer
While Summer is typically filled with more time to relax, it also brings new challenges. Longer days in the Florida heat dehydrate the body quicker and allergies don’t help when it comes to bettering ones sleep schedule.
Addressing this challenge, Natrol, a leading sleep, mood and stress supplement brand, along with behavioral sleep specialist Shelby Harris, intend to help people gain control over their sleep and mood to be more present each day. Here are some tips to get your sleep back on track.
Consider Sleep Cycle Changes
Before trying to reset routines, consider the changes you’re hoping to make. Track the sleep you’re getting now, and pay attention to factors that may hinder your current sleep cycle, from struggling to fall asleep to tossing and turning during the night, then think about the ways you might be able to improve those hindrances.
Make Adjustments Gradually
Remember, changes don’t happen overnight. For many people, the solution
is as simple as going to bed earlier. Rather than trying to make up that extra 30 minutes immediately, it’s often helpful to slowly adjust routines. Try starting your bedtime ritual 5 minutes earlier each night to work toward your goal.
Set Aside Time to Unwind
It’s important to prioritize time to unwind before bed. Whether it’s reading a book, meditating or finding another slow-paced activity you enjoy, a calming, screenless way to slow your mind may help you fall asleep quicker.
Be Thoughtful About Light Exposure
It may seem obvious, but too much light exposure (indoor and out) at night can cause sleep issues. Be mindful of your own comfort by ensuring TVs and computers are powered down, smartphones are set aside, outdoor lights are off and curtains are drawn. Keeping the room dark can make a big difference when trying to fall and stay asleep throughout the night.
Turn to a Drug-Free Sleep Aid Supplement
If you follow consistently good
bedtime habits, but still have trouble falling asleep, try a low-milligram melatonin supplement, like those from Natrol, which are designed to help people sleep better so they can feel well-rested and ready to take on the days.
“Melatonin is not a one-stop solution to help get your sleep back on track,” Harris said. “If you are taking melatonin, finding a brand with USP Verified options, like Natrol’s 5MG Fast Dissolve Tablets, for example, is extremely important.”
Prioritize Your Wake-Up Routine
That snooze button might be tempting, but those extra few minutes of sleep may do more harm than good. Ensure you wake up feeling refreshed by sticking to a consistent sleep cycle. Whether it’s a morning stretch or simply forcing your feet to hit the floor, prioritizing movement and exposure to light can help kickstart the day.
Include these steps to optimize your sleep and prepare for the benefits. Summer is the time to better yourself, while living your best life. M

A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, Cuisine, and Mixology
ARTS CLUB Inside The Tampa EDITION Hotel
By Ronda M. Parag
Upon entering the Arts Club inside Tampa’s exclusive EDITION Hotel, guests are greeted with a tasting of the signature cocktail — Scarlet Muse. The tantalizing cocktail made with Grey Goose Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Sakura Vermouth, Lychee Liqueur and Salted Plum juice and garnished with a pickled Cocktail Onion sets the stage for an elevated experience. Under the direction of General Manager, Chris Southwick and Beverage Operations Mixologist, Tural Hasanov, the menu and the cocktails have evolved and changed to showcase the flavors of Southeast Asia. The team has even collaborated with USF to create unique
ceramics to adorn the tablescape.
We experienced a sampling of the dishes and there were a few standouts. A good starter is the Hearts of Palm Salad with green papaya, toasted peanuts and thai basil. We also enjoyed the Blue Fin Tuna Tartar and the Dan Dan Noodles. Great to share are the Shishito Peppers that have a nice garlic soy sauce glaze. Served more tapas style and good to share are the Hokkaido Scallops, Salt & Pepper Prawns and the Miso Chilean Seabass. We also like the Arts Roll — spicy tuna, avocado and hamachi. There are several dessert options including Matcha Creme Brûlée and Japanese Cheesecake Souffle. The Martini takes center stage as
the cocktail of choice at the Arts Club.
No matter how you like your martini — gin, vodka or shaken or stirred, the mixologists will careful create a smooth and delicious cocktail at the Martini Cart that can be moved tableside to expertly craft a custom cocktail.
To compliment the evening a variety of music from various genre’s including singing duos, bands and DJs will offer the best entertainment, while still allowing conversation to happen.
It’s all about culture, creativity, cuisine and cocktails that will create a sense of community at the newly re-imagined Arts Club. Be sure to stop by for an enchanting and entertaining evening. M
