Publisher’s Notes Engagement season is upon us. The recent holidays have provided a flurry of proposals, with upcoming Valentine’s Day being the third most popular proposal day, right behind Christmas and Christmas Eve. We are so excited to bring you the latest inspiration and ideas in this issue of Tampa Bay Weddings Magazine and at www.tampabaywed.com. It is our goal to spark creativity and provide the best bridal resources in the local Tampa Bay area, by showcasing the professionals in Real Weddings and Inspirations. The Real Wedding of Nadia and Shay was the first wedding ever held at the newly opened Armature Works in Tampa. The historic mixed-use building offers a backdrop of exposed brick, hardwood floors and stunning views of the downtown Tampa skyline. Some of the guests at the wedding rode the Pirate Water Taxi to reach the destination. FH Weddings & Events transformed the interior space and Andi Diamond Photography captured the gorgeous images. The happy couple of Tiffany and Tom elected to have a 1920s theme wedding and chose the Photo by Andi Diamond Photography historic beach front hotel, The Don CeSar, to host their New Year’s Eve wedding. The details are stunning and photographed by Jonathan Fanning. Thanks to everyone who submitted Inspiration Shoots. There are some very talented professionals in the local area, who will create the magic and bring dreams to reality for the wedding day. We hope you enjoy the rustic charm of 820 Haus in Lakeland, a Moroccan Inspiration shoot at the David A. Straz Center and a Once Upon A Time theme at Bakers Ranch. From the cake to the décor, the images are certainly inspiring. I recently visited the beautiful island of Aruba and recommend the location for a destination wedding or honeymoon. Surrounded by beautiful blue waters, the island offers plenty of activity from diving and snorkeling, to relaxing on the beautiful beaches. Wedding planning specialists at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino will assist in all the details, to create a spectacular day for the bride and groom and their guests. If you recently got engaged, sign up now to attend The Elegant Wedding Showcase on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from Noon - 3:30pm at the Tampa Marriott Westshore. There will be some of the best wedding resources to help guide, educate and inspire your day. To register, or for more information, visit www.TampaBayWed.com. Cheers,

Embracing Personal Style. Gown Trends| By Ronda M. Parag
C
hoosing what to wear for the biggest day of her life has to be one of the hardest decisions for any bride-to-be. It sets the tone for the entire wedding for style and décor. Regardless of how many dresses a bride will try, they say once you find the perfect gown, you just know. “This season we are seeing mermaid and trumpet style gowns making a comeback,” said Ashley DeMutiis, Regional Manager at The White Magnolia Bridal Collection. “For the last year or so, we have had a ton of requests for a-line and ballgowns in store, but the designers are really impressing brides-to-be with their exquisite laces, horsehair hems, and impeccable structure that makes a fitted gown hard to say no to.” For those that are more comfortable in pants, the Power Pant Suits and Jumpsuits are all the rage for the modern bride. From the Monique Lhullier structured tuxedo to bow-topped and flared leg pants, designers are showcasing lots of options for those who want to be comfortable. With the ease and comfort of tuxedo dressing, brides no longer may feel that they need an additional dress. Overall, many of the gowns are more informal and less fussy. With beach, backyard and garden weddings, brides want to be able to move more, without all the additional weight of a heavily beaded gown. Many brides for the rehearsal dinner and weddings are opting for a sassy party dress. “Don’t be afraid of doing something different,” said Sarah
Crotty, Lead Stylist at Malindy Elene. “Embrace the variety of colors that are in trend now. Go bold with some fun jewelry or long sleeves. Right now is the time to have fun and be a little extra on your big day.” Long sleeves are still extremely popular on the runway from simple minimalism to lacy or floral embroidery. Many photographers also appreciate the coverage that sleeves provide and less editing they will have to do at the end of the day. Off-shoulder sleeves are popular on the gowns. As part of the Casablanca Bridal collection, intricate beadwork reflects and catches the rays of sunlight in a bright and beautiful dance. The delicacy of the beadwork is juxtaposed by bold laces. Designer Rita Vinieris launched her wedding collection, Rivini, that is inspired by love of beauty, life and desire to maintain a focus on luxury fabrics, architectural draping and a meticulous fit. In terms of accessories, there is no such thing as less is more. Actually, more is more. Lace veils are shown with feathered head pieces. Floral veils are paired with tasseled earrings. Veils with beaded headbands and fresh florals on top of beaded veils are shown with gowns of all styles. For those that choose to have bare shoulders or go sleeveless, statement capes add drama without the poofy sleeves. Layer a cape over a tea-length dress or be dramatic with a hood. Whether you are searching for a fairytale princess dress or a luxurious boho style, bridal designers have unique options to make your wedding day blissful and beautiful. TBW

One Happy Island for Romance Aruba | By Ronda M. Parag

Romance abounds on the island of Aruba that is unique among the Caribbean Islands. The beautiful island has unique topography and vegetation due to the constant trade winds. With Dutch influences, Aruba is located only 16 miles from South America. Aruba is a great destination for hotels, fine dining and adventures. A recent visit to the “One Happy Island” provided an opportunity to check out the island and scout out a few romantic spots for a wedding, dining and sight seeing. The Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino offers luxurious accommodations with both all-adult and more family-centric rooms, with one bedroom suites available in the heart of Oranjestad. The private beach and the private Renaissance Island, are stunning spots to host a wedding. The pink flamingos at the private beach make for great photos and memories. The hotel offers expert wedding coordinators to create a magical day for the happy couple. From custom menus to personalized services, let the team at the Renaissance Aruba Resort plan the wedding of your dreams. Another option to stay and feel pampered is The Ritz-Carlton Aruba, located on the Caribbean island’s Palm Beach. The fantastic Spa with 13 treatment rooms, offers personalized massages and salt scrubs. The bridal party of bridesmaids, bride and moms, would sure appreciate a Girl’s Day at the Spa before the big celebration. Celebrate with family and friends aboard the Tranquilo. The private catamaran tours that are ideal for exploring the waters around Aruba. Known for its crystal clear waters, snorkeling and scuba diving are not to be missed. For a day’s adventure, the captain and crew provide delicious cocktails, snacks and lunch or even a sunset cruise. To get a feel for the island, discover a jeep tour with De Palm Tours. There are several options, but we opted for the two (squeezed in three) seater jeep for a rugged and wild discovery of the island of Aruba. It is like playing follow the leader, with the main guide forging a trail through

the landscape and all the other jeeps following along. The desert-like terrain with lots of cacti, secluded beaches, natural pools and wildlife including goats and iguanas, were amazing. As a multi-cultural destination, Aruba offers a vast selection of dining options that will satisfy the most discerning bridal party. From a romantic brunch at The Restaurant at Tierra Del Sol, to dinner on the beach at Barefoot Restaurant or Quinta del Carmen on the courtyard under the stars, many of the restaurants will cater to a bride and groom, or be willing to host a rehearsal or reception dinner. One of the most romantic experiences for dinner was at the Screaming Eagle Restaurant. Couples can have Dinner in Bed and actually dine on an elevated bed surrounded by sheer draping for privacy. The menu offers a selection of French-fusion cuisine, over 300 wines and service that is superb. If you need extra assistance and local expertise with planning a wedding, reception or even a proposal, the team at Proposal Aruba is local with all the contacts and connections to make dreams become reality. A Romantic Rustic Chic Wedding Amidst Historic Charm Nadia and Shay were the first wedding at Armature Works. They envisioned a rustic chic style for their big day, and fell in love with the historic charm of this historic building. The brick walls, exposed industrial ceiling and large windows overlooking the Hillsborough River, was the the perfect location for their dream wedding. One of their favorite memories from their wedding day was walking into the reception space before the guests arrived. They were blown away! The dream team of vendors took their vision and made it come to life.

The Bride and Groom worked from the very beginning with Christi Winsor from Winsor Event Studio and Stephanie from FH Weddings & Events, to create a wedding with a balance of elegant and agrarian elements. This inspired details like greenery chandeliers, mirrored pedestals, and lots of romantic candlelight. The roof top ceremony had a view of the Tampa skyline and was witnessed by their closest family and friends. Guests transitioned into the Theater room where they had amazing food and a band that rocked the night away.

1920s Glam-Inspired Celebration at The Don CeSar When planning their wedding, Tiffany and Tom wanted it to be an unforgettable event so they thought, what better time to get married than on New Year’s Eve weekend. They chose to have a 1920s glam-inspired wedding because Tiffany has always been obsessed with that era and what better place to have it at than the historic Don CeSar. The Don is absolutely beautiful and has the architecture and the history that went perfectly with their 20s theme.

Inspired by the 1920s Era, the décor included gold spray painted coffee beans used to accent the tables, along with simple navy linens with gold chargers. A variety of dessert shooters for a twist on a classic wedding cake. A beautiful phonograph played while guests found their place cards, which was a must at this 20s glam wedding. The romantic setting was paired well with beautiful flowers and feather arrangements from Iza’s Flowers.

Chicago Style Wedding at the Don Cesar This was a destination wedding and many of the guests traveled from Chicago, to share in the celebration. The ceremony was held at the family’s church where they are active members. Adrienne wanted to keep the ceremony elegant using only white tropical flowers. Broko, their adopted dog from Jamaica, was one of the ring bearers and sat just off the front row to watch his parents marry.

Wedding Checklist
Congratulations you’re engaged! Wedding bells will be ringing soon, but in the meantime it’s all about the planning. Here’s a helpful 12-month itinerary to make sure your big day goes off without a hitch.
10 to 12 Months This is the period of research and exploring, what kind of wedding do you want? Pretend you are a detective seeking the best of everything: style, venue, honeymoon, the works. q Schedule engagement photos q Mail out engagement announcements q Set a date q Meet clergy, especially if one of you is converting so you can start classes immediately q Start making bride/groom guest list q Decide on a budget q Decide on indoor or outdoor wedding, be sure to keep in mind weather conditions for outdoor weddings and it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan q Begin scouting locations for ceremony, reception and rehearsal dinner. q Begin researching caterers, florists, photographers, musicians and bakers q Make a list with fiancée of honeymoon destinations and songs for your first dance q Decide on members of the wedding party q Begin shopping for your wedding dress
7 to 9 Months Now it’s time to start narrowing things down. In order to have time for the details, it’s important to get some of the big stuff out of the way. q Send engagement announcement to the local paper q Order your wedding dress q Decide on venue q Choose clergy q Choose your colors q Take bridesmaids shopping for their dresses q Take mom shopping for her Mother of the Bride dress q Meet with florist and decide on flowers for venue, wedding party and reception q Meet with caterer to decide on menu and schedule menu tasting q Book photographer q Meet with musicians to discuss play list q Meet with travel agent about honeymoon q Book reception venue and make deposit
4 to 6 Months Ok, take a deep breath and relax, but not too much. Look at all you’ve accomplished; now it’s time for the details. q Finalize menu with caterer q Finalize guest list q Order wedding invitations q Start shopping for wedding rings q Make appointment with jeweler if want to custom design rings q Meet with baker to view and taste cake options q Order bridesmaids’ dresses q Shop for and order fiancée and groomsmen tuxes q Book honeymoon

q Make sure passports are current if going out of the country
2 to 3 Months Now things are beginning to take form and your dream wedding is unfolding right before your eyes. Just keep focus and have fun. q Order wedding rings q Confirm with florist all flowers for ceremony and reception q Order cake q Register for gifts q Shop and order party favors q Pick song for your first dance q Finalize play list with musicians
4 to 8 Weeks Everything is locked in, your dress is being tailored and everything is ordered. Now is the time to CONFIRM, CONFIRM, CONFIRM. q Mail wedding invitations q Order programs for the ceremony q Go with fiancée to get marriage license q Obtain, fill-out and mail all necessary forms for your name change q Pick up wedding rings and check fit q Final fitting for wedding dress and wedding party q Make appointment with hair and makeup stylist q Make nail appointment q Start shopping for honeymoon clothes q Purchase wedding party gifts q Purchase wedding gift for your fiancée q Pick up your dress and start wearing shoes around the house to ensure comfort on the big day q If traditionalist–make sure have something old, new, borrowed and blue q Plan rehearsal dinner q Pay final payment on reception hall
1 Week Can you hear the wedding bells? That’s right in just one week you’ll go from bride-to-be, to wife! Now just a few minor details before you walk down the aisle into happily ever after. q Confirm with EVERYONE, caterer, photographer, baker, florist to make sure everything is on schedule q Confirm wedding party picked up dresses and tuxes q Get everything packed for honeymoon q Pick up plane or cruise tickets and travel itinerary for honeymoon from travel agent q Hold rehearsal dinner and handout wedding day schedule to wedding party q Take bridesmaids out for brunch and a spa day for the last time as a single gal q Attend wedding rehearsal q Schedule two days for yourself, one for family and one for friends
